They are not bad chassis as it goes, although the Radio Shack Intruder chassis was much nicer - but had rubbish bodies.

That's a great colour, and will look amazing as on a GF01 - almost exactly 175 mm wheelbase.

Yeah, I should just hang onto the chassis for now..

I'm going to paint the body olive drab.. so it did not have to be the green color, it was the only one available for cheap.  $35 or something I paid.  :D

I mean, I guess with you that was an inevitability, but please just try with the green with white wheels before you paint forever! :D

Sorry I forgot who asked, but this is how I am making these little Willy figures..

This is the same torso used on Billy with the HotWheels City Turbo and good old Bob..

This is a FunkoPop figure.  I remove the head.. (no science, just pull hard)..

IMG_Dec22021at41324PM.jpg.e687524563880ace5021d44a9c0d7f38.jpg

I drill out the hand to place a scale tool.. I usually use a wrench instead of a screw driver (note JIS screw driver not PH ;) @alvinlwh), but for demo purpose this is how it looks.  I have more wrenches on the way.

I also drill a hole big enough to screw on a long set screw (grub screw) for the neck.

IMG_Dec22021at41402PM.jpg.6c0104fe91b6b3f81bf448bf8164d91f.jpg

Then screw on Willy’s (or Billy’s) head.

IMG_Dec22021at41838PM.jpg.e60405e513e564f25ef7b50c027ac4b9.jpg

Then paint to the scheme of choice..

Willy and Billy’s dad, Bob..

Special thanks to @JennyMo for the idea with her Smurf body Willy.  :D

Used a Dremel for the first time. Had to cut the screw sockets down on the front end of a Hornet chassis that are used to screw the body down on a Grasshopper, until they were level with the sides of the chassis tub, so that I could fit an NIP Parma Grasshopper/Hornet monster truck conversion kit that I scored off eBay. Metal front body mounting bracket now fitted. Wheels and tyres (from a Tamiya Brat) also in place, as are the bearings, 35T motor and all the electronics. Now I just have to fit the rear body mounts and paint and fit the Baja bug shell. Then it'll be ready for my daughter for Christmas.

I made another Edgarmon and seat to go in the 4x4 behind.

Aluminium seat with sparkly head rests and white seatbelt.

That's three made now, need to buy some more of the original Happy Meal toys to make a few more.

Finally getting back to the groove of things, I did some prep work for a pair of original 3D printed side mirrors for my City Turbo created by @nicherotors

Also a winch hook for one of my M38’s..

Will give them some paint this coming weekend.

These side mirrors are a fantastic design available at Shapeways.  Going to do another pair soon (I bought 3 pairs).

Received my TD4 after much dramatic hand-wringing on my part (see TD4 thread), and am currently modding it to take a transverse LiPO. Still a WIP:

$20 score on Craigslist…

vzGZXnq.jpg

Parma Jeep Honcho body
Big T tape and dispenser
Kyosho lexan scissors
Hudy body reamer

Rock!

70degF and low humidity this afternoon so I put my CL score to work!  And I used up a bunch of half-full cans I had under the bed…

Last bit of my PS41 bright silver on the nose, last bit of PS53 lame, and then the last bit of PS13 gold.  I got two coats out of that.

I then used the last bit of a can of PS1 white as a back. I thought it might be too bright so I backed that with the last bit of TS6 (I’m out of PS black apparently) and another coat of PS1 from a fresh can.

50yJVDA.jpg

It came out brighter than I wanted. And it’s hard to see the glitter in this lighting. It should look better in the sun.

QE0JPVv.jpg

Unfortunately, the body had some creases and other damage from being stored in a box of RC junk for over 10 years.  Oh well, I suppose I won’t feel guilty trashing it!

C8BNdYs.jpg

Here is a test fit on the Dragon. I’ll need to work out some taller body mounts, and maybe some axle extensions…

0m8RinF.jpg

And yeah, I used the Big T tape and the Kyosho scissors.  When I work out the body mounts, I’ll use the Hudy reamer.

Back to work on my 1/24 VW Karmann Ghia before the 1/10 one arrives. It had been sitting there gathering dust when I hit a "stall" building static and moved onto RC a few months back.

Was having too much fun with the new ESC and managed to explode another diff gear on the Hornet-converted Grasshopper today.

It's becoming an annual occurrence... not sure if it's due to my leadfoot driving  or just pickled old plastic?

Luckily it wasn't the same gear as last year, and for once I actually had a spare on hand, so it's already fixed!

Also made some tweaks to the Gecko Garage swaybar (a bent bicycle spoke) while everything was apart :D

Not today, but over the weekend, family crawl day with my daughter’s freshly re-vamped Element.  Maiden voyage with the Revolver motor, Hyrax tires, and Cliffhanger body.  The only stock parts left on it are the dampers, frame rails and axle housings……lucky kid.

I took the MF01x trail truck to the park.

It was rainy, but I've recently changed all the screws to stainless steel, the servo to water proof and shaft to aluminium, so I can drive in the rain without worry, and I can give a wash down when I get home.

Changing to a 170 mm wheelbase really works for this body and wheels. It's now even more sparky. The 13T pinion was great, although I still feel like I need to reduce the speed down. I've got two options, one would be keeping the Torque Tuned motor, but getting a 4 cell battery and perhaps an ESC that can work at that voltage, and volt down

Or I'll try the 45T motor again, or the silver can.

I also need to find a way to make a way to stop water getting in, all the water on the front windscreen is on the inside.

I would recommend the MF01x to anyone. It takes TL01 arms really easily and can go from 170 mm to  254 mm so you've got width and wheelbase options aplenty.

Had the kids to myself so by the time I did school run, swim club, Friday night (take away) dinner there wasn’t much time left but did quickly put together the new Yeah Racing Wheelie Bar that turned up today. An amazing amount of parts for something that essentially upgraded a roller 😆

It’s for my GF01 which is now almost fully hopped up and very over the top, but has been fun to keep adding kit! Just working out the front bumper and then I think it will be complete. Although I’ve ordered a roll bar to try too ;)

I'm not really a fan of OTT hop ups, but that looks amazing.

Yes, it’s a crazy bit of design. You can put it together to be a little more subtle with just one ‘roller’. But where’s the fun in that?

I always wanted one GF01 to be really hopped up and the other will be pretty much from the box.

Took a few quick shots while the Road Crew did some morning warmups on our Test Track…

You can say the difference is, well, “night and day”…

The photos don’t do it justice. It just glistens in the light and it sparkles as you turn it this way and that. It think with some dark accent colors it will look really nice…
