i'm surprised at how thin this black is going on the Tacoma body, it seems like it's going on nice and even just thin 3-4 coats and I can still see through it.

Yeah, if it was a touring car low to the ground one can get away with it (also to keep the body as light weight as possible), but on a truck body you'll probably want it nice and thick.. no see-through light.

I couldn't wait.   Heh.  Will look even blingier once the protective film comes off.  I might find a similar wheel polished chrome to go for that Back to the Future Marty McFly Toyota truck look.

They're even letting you go to the hobby shop?  I thought you couldn't go out minus health care related stuff.

I’m in Melbourne, Australia. Most restrictions are removed since we reached 90% vaccinated rate a few weeks ago. We still have to wear a mask and log-in wherever we go but after more than 260 days of hard lockdown it feels like real freedom!

There are strange restrictions still in place though. Travel restrictions still apply between various states despite now being able to travel overseas! The joys of a federal v state government model!

  It's like one of those 'what's wrong with the picture?' puzzles.   Looking forward to the finished body.

I have noticed you paint before cutting the body.  Is that easier?  Never tried this before

My Weilder HSV-010 TA-05v2 underway. First time with a belt driven car.  Stopped as instructions asked for “non-organic rubber cement” for the ball diff shields!   This is new type of build for me

It's always how I've done it so I have something to clip to if I'm hanging it to dry or paint.  It's just what I'm used to doing.

I remember this stuff when I liked in Canada and US.  For some reasons it is impossible to find in HK.

Is that Tamiya's mythical 'synthetic rubbber cement'?

Does Tamiya make rubber cement?  It is the only time in instructions which did not have Tamiya model code 😅

This set is new but must have been in the shelf for a while.  Are these tires still good?  There is a white residue

Not that I'm aware of, I do use their cement with the brush, the small bottle with the orange cap I think it is.

The good news is that the gearbox is in perfect state :)

Such an interesting piece of RC history. Looking forward to the final result. Good luck with the restoration.

Heading to the shop to get my Blockhead Motors Wild One.

As if I don't have enough work to do with a N scale model railroad I'm building too.   HA.

Received an email today to say there’s a parcel waiting for me at the office. Is it

a) the servo saver and lower bumpers for my CR-01

b) an Axial SMT10 builders kit

Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait a while to find out :(
