Painted a new fire dragon shell, no decals yet but I'll see how some might work.

Took the comical hopper out to properly stretch its legs.

Although I am not sure who was stretching their legs.

https://brixtonblog.com/2022/08/council-planning-new-artificial-pitch-in-brockwell-park/

They are going to turn my RC gravel area into a football pitch.

The article does not mention the lone man using it to drive children's toys - shoddy journalism at its finest!

In all seriousness, a  little bummed about this - I hadn't used it much with a 4 month year old, but was looking forward to using it with the kid next summer when he could toddle along, as it's always deserted and is a huge area to drive.

Is that for the lotus? I’m doing a lotus body for my M06 soon but not sure what colour to do. Was toying with Camel yellow with some blue accents as per the Lotus Camel racing colours?

Yeah for the Lotus, Oh darn are ya? That's what colour I bought too. I was adamant to stay away from the Gold Leaf and JPS liveries, and definitely not BRG, because I thought those three would be popular..  😄 was just going to be plain, no cigarette logos

It's a council in Australia - the way to get them to do what you want is to turn up at meetings with a brown paper bag stuffed full of $100 notes. Too easy (as they say).

Ah! I got the right job, in the wrong country!

No RC action for me again today.. but mapping out what furnishings I would need to modify my pretend RC shop.. mainly new display furniture for the shop and new shelving units for the lounge..calculating budget, timing, and all.

Part of me (more like most of me) wants to keep the work table in the pretend RC shop for the coziness and completeness so I am working on 2 schemes in parallel..

I use the football field at the local high school for stretching the legs on my cars and the kid.

Been working on this shell over the last few days. Got some period correct decals from a nice man on here.

They make that difference that lifts things. Good bit left to do but happy with things so far...

No RC action for me today, other than looking for something in the garage and finding RC bits that I really ought have known I had.

Going to have to buy something to organise my screws, etc to stop wasting money by over-ordering, take stock of what I have and reduce time and frustration looking for stuff I know is there somewhere.

I wanted to paint a Dual Hunter shell but the humidity was even worse than yesterday. Hoping for better on Thursday or Friday.

I have several plastic organizers with various fasteners, but one thing that has been helping me a lot is a little 'petty screw bin' (just a box my servo came in) with random screws I often use.  Just like petty cash, I take some, then replenish some when I finish a kit or body/damper set, etc.  very low tech.

Hope thing dry up for your paint session!  Good thing you didn't rush it though, humidity can be a big problem for paint projects.

I haven’t bought the paint yet!!! A friend of mine had a mustard yellow one years ago and I always liked it. I’ve got some very small 🐫 logos so maybe just on the front wings and rear end. No wing on mine. I don’t really know where Tamiya got that from? I must have seen hundreds of Twin cams and I have never seen one with that monstrosity on its tail!!!!

Oh. Well I can choose a other colour if you want to to go with the camel theme. I just googled Lotus Europa pics and the dull yellow one with the minilites was the only one that stood out. I've cut the shell but need to touch up some of the edges and my dremel and painting supplies are at work. Yeah I don't like wing either, that's definitely not going on 😄

Edit: uploaded wrong pic

Don’t not do it that colour because of me. There’s more than enough room for two. Yes Miniltes look good. I have the blue Escort ones spare??? Perhaps I could use them.

Sorry for the delayed reply... It's a MCD XR5-Max Rally car.  1/5 scale.  Electric conversion.
I'm setting it up to run on 8S.  The steering servo is powered directly from an external BEC at 8.4v, while the brake servo is running off the receiver at 6v.  Yes.... brake servo.  The car will run dual mechanical disc brakes so there is no strain on the ESC under brake load.

Replaced the springs on the DF-01 build for the newly powder coated stiffer runner springs. Whilst at it, I tapped the front and rear top shock mount points with a 3mm tap and used 24mm (22mm would've been better if I had some) screws straight through with nuts on the back, rather than the self tapping step screws.

Original self tapping step screws -

New hardware, including new collars. Nyloc nuts used on the rear and flanged serrated on the front.

New hardware fitted to the front

Hopefully this should strengthen up those mounting points and is a trial run for my Monster Beetle lower front shock mount repair and strengthen. I am usually wary of adding additional strength to areas of the Tamiya RC cars as it can simply transfer the shock into other areas and break other parts instead, which are sometimes more costly. However, as these are the end mounting points for the forces the shocks will be subjected to, I don't see any negatives to this approach ...yet:ph34r:

@bRIBEGuy 1:5 scale, wow.  Nice. :D

All this time I've been itching for an oversized outdoor buggy.. for me it would have to be nitro as it's just the thing 1:1 car guys like..the noise and mess.  :D  I'd store it in my garage and just work on the car there, drive it after shoveling snow or something like that.  I donno, just an image I've had for a long while..

For me today, just shopping around for display shelves for my pretend RC shop.. I decided to keep my work table in the pretend RC shop after all.. I just like the coziness.    However, I do plan to get a dedicated air purifier to control the plasticard dust to minimize dispersion.  I have one in the 2nd floor hallway (smaller than my cajon) to clean the air while the central HVAC on the house is not running during cooler days.  Works great.

Nitro is the worst, IMO... finicky, fussy, and too high pitched.  My last couple 1/5 buggies were gasoline, and that was actually really nice.  Easy to start, reliable, and good 'n loud.  I ran white gas to keep the smell down.  The problem was the noise though... as much as I loved it, I found myself sometimes having to drive 1-2 hours to find a place to run them without getting complaints/security/police/etc.  So this one is going electric, so I can run it closer to home.

That's totally fine.  I worked on nitro cars decades ago and it was fun...I actually like the high pitched screaming noise of those engines.    I'm in the USA and if my neighbors are okay hearing my modified WRX and STI (pretty loud), I think they can manage hearing a little RC car zooming past their house for 15 min or so.  :D  .. I think.     Especially with snow, noise is damped.

Have fun with your car!
