Went camping with the family. This guy cut thru our camp and laughed at me for showing up with 22 dead batteries and 4 crawlers and nowhere to charge.

Today I replaced the 2030 brushless motor in the mini King Cab with a HW1060 and 370 motor. It won't have the same top speed, but it'll be much quieter and nicer to drive at low speeds.

For the 1/14 QD monster trucks those little brushless motors are total game changers, but for some reason on this lighter truck it just wasn't working well. When hitting an obstacle the motor would just cogg and judder the gearbox, which for some reason was less of a problem on the monster trucks. This 370 is much smoother.

It now feels much more like a nice old school top end Nikko or Tyco, probably with a similar 25 kph top speed. On a 2S li ion it'll still rip however but I've also got a 6v AA battery pack so I can compare.

My other QD buggy has the 2030 motor and 9.6 volt, and that is really fast, so I guess it's nice to have a few different types, otherwise all your cars end up the same.

Still one of my favourite trucks!

Sadly the other QD buggy I bought was a bust, so I've salvaged some spares, but put that one to rest for now.

Does mean I have a brushless motor li- ion battery, servo etc going spare, so perhaps another QD MT? Just got the total heck of it, I've got two already. Or try another toy grade conversion.

I'm all about repurposing and with the pretend RC shop going through some display updates, I decided to make a low riding display creeper/dolly for my M38's so that it does not block visibility of the shelves behind it.  I spent $0.00 on this project as the boards, screws, casters, everything I pulled from my scrap bin.. :D

My new shelves are to arrive in 2 days time, so the buggies on the floor will be properly displayed hopefully before the weekend.   Then I will decide whether I still want to do the 45th Porsche or not.

My wife suggested that the next plasticard project be to make Willy scale stanchions for the M38's.. like at museums.   :D

Decided to run a Clod on a humid, evening run. Dropped a 2s lipo in it, became slightly irritated because transmitter batteries were dead (20 minutes trying to find some charged ones), then ran the beast for about 20 minutes before realizing the wheel nuts on all four wheels had come loose.

I initially couldn't figure out why I took out one of these bouncy chunkies, but realized they are actually a lot of fun. (sounds like a desperate date, doesn't it?)

Is that the 45th anniversary,  or just the 45th Porsche you've made? Looking at the photo neither would surprise me. 😂

Hahahaha.  My collection is really not that significant.

The conclusion this time is that I am going to pass on the 45th Porsche (and all touring cars) and go back to my roots which is to make Willy and Billy related cars while doing some buggy cars as I am now.  I decided I would be spread too thin and be more tired/overwhelmed than enjoying the hobby.. and why play with RC if it's not 100% enjoyable.  :D

Update from FedEx is that I am going to be receiving my new shelves today, so after some meetings this morning, I am going to breakdown the existing shelves to prepare for the remodeling.  B)

Today i put paint on the body for my modded TT02B, the Desert Scorcher:

IMG_20220803_233523.thumb.jpg.1184eeb61dad99529f7eb0f0eebeb834.jpg

Gotta do up the wipers, paint the tail lights, add the front lights+chrome, number plate, windows and eventually the driver.

Gonna look at remixing a head with a DAK Feldmutze M41, probably just gonna change the helmet into one and essentially print a variant of the head i used on the driver of the Scorched DT02.

These things are cool aren't they! Like little caricatures of their bigger brothers, some of them crack me up. Bet they're a blast when you get a few of them on a track togetherB)

I got the 2 new shelves so assembled and wired up new lights.   I have to be honest, it took some effort and was pretty tired after the setup.   :D

The contents on the shelves will be rearranged, but just a ‘test drive’ shot to see how it looks overall.  I got all my buggies off the floor so that’s good.

Still some work to do rest of the room..

I love these. It's just perfect! I wish the big brother version looked half as good.

I dunno, I kind of regret the colour now. It's kind of already an ugly car, I feel like I made it worse giving it an ugly colour 😄

I found another pic of an Europa in NZ that was two tone, washed out yellow on top and white on the lower, which looked really cool, but I couldn't get the tape in the crevice of the front bumper that I was happy with. After half an hour of fighting it, I threw the towel and went the one colour 😄

Still more to do, (shut lines etc) but here's a progress pic.

Double post:

I also collected a TT02 Escort and L&L Sierra from my LHS as I have to build it and paint it like Australians D Johnsons #17 car.

Is that Bay hobbies? And they have L&L bodies? My Mondeo cost about $100 to get direct from L&L, how much are they from Bay?

Dunno how much, he did import about 20-30 bodies about 6 months ago I think, not sure what's left. Also some wheels and other stuff.

It's kind of already an ugly car- Wash your mouth out with soap you horrible child😂😂😂 it is a thing of real beauty 😇 it needs the ally panel along the bottom of the door. That seems to slim the body down. I think that looks brilliant. A few shut lines will as you say make a difference

I like the colour on it but feel it is let down by the window trim stickers (not the application, that looks superb!), perhaps it is the smoked glass? It has put me off getting a shell for one of my spare M04 :(

Yesterday I fitted a new ESC to my Modified Madcap (more Super Astute now than anything) and fully updated the build thread.

VMTw6JD.jpeg

Today I took it out for its first run. The thing is blisteringly fast with that motor and gear box combo, well chuffed. It tore through a 3300nimh in less than 10mins. Had a flip and broke part of the wing side, which I think was already split (shell and wing are second hand). I have some mesh tape so will use that to fix the wing and repair some other existing splits in the body shell as well.

@Kol__ That's a clean install, looks good.   Sorry to hear about the wing... hope you can fix it or source a new one.   I saw your picture in the gallery thread out in the wild.  Nice~!  :D
