Picked up a used 5.5T Hobbywing motor with ESC for cheap.  Wires already cut short and soldered.  I was planning to extending the wiring cables from ESC to motor but in the end found a new mounting spot nearby.476F8E2A-E4AB-430C-851B-EB92B10724B6.jpeg.9b45a1aa03a1c36908cf48d4cd1cee23.jpeg143B8177-E688-4B89-96D4-2162E8B29A41.jpeg.c556d1587c46284e9dd82e3b697e0c47.jpeg1A70C883-61E0-4608-B5DA-4C300E70A00C.jpeg.fba099b264786c2a0e9741ca9e6fb345.jpeg

With all the power I will need to glue the tires to rim.  I also need program the ESC to allow me to reverse.

Painted my 4WS 4WD Blitzer Beetle…. Flat black

Wheels painted Bright Silver and then added flat clear.  Missing chassis and rubber in this photo   Looks like a cool sled racer09EC4610-6392-447B-B159-6EB4EED5A7DD.thumb.jpeg.e4fbd2eab33f306b04d14e66616333a8.jpeg

Interesting to see how much the flat clear dulls the shine. Left is Bright silver.  Right is Bright Silver with flat clear.

@Frankster Nice Beetle!  I like that satin gold finish.  I should try that in on my WW2 wheels.  Chrome finish is cool, but satin gives it extra character, I think.

Not going to do it on mine, but now I am imagining a matte finish red HotShot with satin gold wheels..  hummmm!

Thanks @Willy iine   Long story on the history of the red body.  Will send photos of the satin wheels installed in the next day or so 🤞

Sounds great!  :D

So for me, painted the tombstones.. (I mean seat backs) according to my wife.   She said paint up R.I.P.  in prep for Halloween.

Will mask and spray the back side gunmetal in a bit.   I should be able to finish later today.

@Willy iine do you have dimensions of your seats?   It would be great if I could find someone to help draw up and 3D print locally. My Blitzer Beetle will have a Willy driver and seat backs would be a great finishing touch

It’s about 45mm in width and about 50mm in height.  I don’t have an official template.. each one is made eyeballed..  so they are all a bit different in size and shape.

You can source @nicherotors awesome seat backs he did on Shapeways for the City Turbo.  It’s a lot better looking than my half-baked-did-you-make-that-yourself--? sadness..

Thanks for the sympathy and tolerance in advance.

Yesterday actually but I finally won an EBay auction 👏👏👏 A TT01 with an SVT pickup body. The seller had a Datsun 240 rally on a TT01 running concurrently

( about 5 mins) apart. I really would have liked that but I missed it. In fact I missed the SVT but got it on a second offer. I think someone won both but realised they didn’t want both!!

Congrats!

There has been some GOOD stuff popping up on ebay over the last month or so.... with some auctions ending pretty reasonably.  Saw an MK1 Hotshot go for under $200, and a Chevy Logo Clodbuster (seeming near mint) go for ~$300.

Your TT01 will be fun, enjoy!

Cost me £99.99 which is a bit higher than I really wanted.! It’s used but the body looks immaculate.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Bit slow posting recently as this was yesterday as well. Needed to fit metal diff nut to front diff and change the motor to my shiny new one. Boy you have to dismantle a lot to get the motor out!!!13EEB5B8-1BAF-48C1-94E9-FB645416250D.jpg

Took the Frog out to see if there are any improvements after making some changes to the suspension. Managed a little longer (2 minutes?) than its first run (30 seconds) but again dogbone popped off with harder turns.

Luckily I brought a spare, the LRP Twister Buggy and drove at more or less full throttle for 30 minutes without issues.

I think it will be worth it when you get that RZ running.

I have the brace because I was turned off by the MIP price.   Would you say the ball diff is worth it?

Ya I like the adjustability of it and if I choose I could upgrade to brushless and not worry about blowing up the rear end.

So I finished both seat backs for Billy’s Land Cruisers.   I posted the yellow one in the gallery thread and working on the black one as there is so much unwanted reflection on the body panels it is difficult to get a good photo..

Anyway, I think it turned out okay considering it is only a seat back and not a full interior.. :D

BEFORE..

AFTER..

The car is usually suspended on its dedicated shelf with casters so it is easy to move around..

@Willy iinethat’s definitely worth the effort, it makes a real difference.

I used a bumper as my bench seat but I think yours is a bit more elegant! 😉

Nice!  Good idea with the wide bench seat back.  Looks like he's well hydrated too.

I looked at my M05's and I think I can clear the long steering rod to install Billy in there, but my M03 is a no go.. the ESC with fan comes up too high.

I am going to see if I can install a thin one in my WR02 Jimny next.. I need to get this truck some side mirrors too.. looks weird with no side mirrors..!

Seat backs look great on all the cars you have added, esp on the mini.

Thanks, that means a lot to me.  B)

Here is the master's work.. you can see how much nicer it is.. It's actually 3 separate pieces per seat back.  The through-hole is more oval where as mine are just circles with a slot..and the recent ones only have a physical hole on the back side due to 'budget version'

Is that a second TD4?

Looking forward to seeing how you will paint this one.

No this is the first one. I tried unsuccessfully to sell it due to its lacklustre performance but had no offers so I decided to upgrade the motor to the RZ and put the metal diff nut in the front diff ( I’d had it for yonks but just hadn’t fitted it)  so it’s the original green and yellow one.256671C8-DF3B-4FA8-8665-1CCC80E3FA22.jpg I might get a new body set as it’s cracked, a do it like a Second World War fighter ( Mustang or Thunderbolt) See what the performance is like with the new motor!!!

Sorry to hear you could not sell it.  BRG with yellow strip is nice.   Would you try a Astute 2022 shell as I hear it will fit a TD4 chassis.

By the way, what is the brushless “turn” equivalent RZ motor?  I am still new at this

Yes the TD2 body is a thought. I think I was meant to keep it. I had put a lot of money into it so I feel happier to keep it.
Im not sure about the turn equivalent in brushless terms but I’m sure some member better qualified than me will answer.
