Thanks for the detail. I might try that on my next body👍

I'd heard backing for PS-16 didn't matter as much as you'd expect. So I'd used the wheel cut-outs from the bodyshell for test spray outs - testing additional pearl first coats and combinations of backing. For PS-16 switching straight to black was fine. For other colours I can imagine going via silver might matter.

I took out the Terra Scorcher for a night run through the fallen leaves. I couldn't see much! But the patched up front knuckle is holding on great. Good for me, as it would have been impossible to find the missing screws and pieces, had it shattered again... 😅

Car drives great just as yesterday's livingroom accident didn't happen, I think it can still take on Postal racing duties while waiting for the replacement knuckles to show up. So I placed an order for new tires as well:rolleyes:

Good to see that the trusty Terra is still working great. It is allmost sensational that at least one lower arm did not break.

I finished the Thunder Dragon this weekend. It has alu A5, universals in front,  suspension shafts throughout and I have also made sleeves for the inner mounts on the lower arms. It is finished meaning it is drivable. As the TD-body is nothing for me I have bought a Terra Scorcher body and an orange Javelin spoiler. In the end it's gonna be a Dirt Thrasher lookalike in Gulf livery.

No debut for it today, though. My wife has the grand opening for an art exhibition today, so no room for any detours on the way home from work.

@Andreas W Nice build!

Hope your wife's grand gallery event went well. One of my wife's HS friends is a professional artist..she does shows of her work at the gallery in Ginza, Japan.

For me, I have a bunch of RC stuff (bits) arriving today so looking forward that.  B) I am going to take a quick break from RC building and make another Willy garage accessory..  however it is a huge challenge and not sure how I will go about it just yet or if I can even make it.   I will let you know what it is as soon as I have some footing so that I do not embarrass myself saying it's a floor fan when it looks like a ball of crap.    .. oh wait..

Speaking of which..

So yesterday I decided to tape up the 2 windows in my pretend RC shop not that there is air leaking from the seals, but the cold glass drops cold air near the floor and being old it aches my leg.   I literally sit 2 -3 ft from the 2 windows so it can get pretty chilly in the winter.

I used a 3M window sealing kit, but the poster tape included was so old the liner would not separate cleanly.. so went to my car detailing arsenal and grabbed some Nichiban masking tape.. this is basically the same stuff as the Tamiya masking tape… I have a whole case of this stuff I got free from my wife’s friend who worked for a trading company that dealt with Nichiban.

Here’s the taped up window with mask.. can’t see the tape when the blind is closed.. which is 100% of the time.

It is night day difference with the film.  :D

I changed the pinion on the QD pumpkin back to a proper tamiya QD 10 tooth. It was quite a job as I needed to pull it from the QD motor it came on and it really didn't want to go. I ended up chewing up one end of the pinion with my pinion puller, meaning I then had to smooth that end off and do very careful placement on spur gear. Now it's super smooth so no harm done.

The pumpkin has an 18T motor and built to be bouncy fun.

The red modern Ford now has an 12T motor on 2S. It's pretty darn fast. It's got a lower cog with a lower body, so hopefully will not roll too much. I did get a small piece of the arch come off but super glue worked really well

Otherwise both pretty much the same. Will have to take them both to the park to see which one I like most, probably will come down to how wide open the space is.

No pics yet but I also started the journey to an MF01x scale JP crawler/ trail truck (actually probably trail truck...)

Thank you! Oh no, I might have to google that, sounds sore! I haven't been for a run for 3 days and I'm getting withdrawals. I think I did the injury a week ago, I was going for my morning run but it was pitch black out, I went to cross an intersection and didn't see the drop down in the footpath to match the road and jarred my knee. When I went again the next morning, I was compensating and trying not to put pressure on it, mistake #1. I will take your advice and get to an osteo. The swelling has gone down a lot and it isn't as painful, but I cannot bend it 90 degrees. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks! Far out! With all the RC and honey-do's you get done, I thought you were the king of avoiding accidents. 😄 I would have opted out of that fire drill if I was in your state, and told everyone I would run if there's a real one. But I guess your work would imply even if you were injured, you'd have to escape quickly anyway 😄

The owner did take it off and blast it on the layout, it was quite funny! 😄

Today I took some clangers to the park. Got a few onlookers and questions, and a couple of kids that were watching got a turn on the DT03 and the lunchie, which the parents were happy about. The DT03 certainly needs a hotter motor, it was fun but isn't fast enough in a big open area to be entertaining.

This is my first run with the Mojave. I've had a fair share of 60mph cars, but this behemoth is just an outright animal. What a fun truck, havent smiled this much in ages. Just waiting for the batteries to charge again and will hobble down to a more local park for another blast. 😁

I have a Losi Baja Rey Ford raptor which I imagine is quite similar only 3s though. It is my favourite rc car to drive. The size and weight seems to make them handle like the real thing, in fact in the case of the Losi the suspension basically is like the real thing. Find a nice undulating dusty track and let it rip. You won’t stop smiling for hours😁😁😁

If the diff nut is anything like the TD4 if you've got that feeling you over tightened it you probably have already stripped it! if there's one hop-up part for these buggies which is a must it's the alloy diff nut:D

Luckily I did a quick read up on here before buying so I had the alloy nut 😅. The chassis was completed tonight  and feels alright. I think it was just my lack of recent experience leading me to overthink it.
Hopefully I’ll start on the body over the week and have it all finished for the weekend. Just in time for the weather to turn 😄

Found a location for the magnetic body posts on the rear of the Lancia Delta

20221017_224817.jpg Still need to make a bracket to fix these in a more permanent way to the chassis.

Stance would be like this

20221017_224734.jpg looks like I might need to finetune the wheelbase

And stance will be like this with the chassis touching the ground (what normally wont happen while driving)

 20221017_230631.jpg

Not to sure about the A3 part sticking out underneath the front bumper...

20221017_230644.jpg maybe try to make the small "lip" at the bottom a little bit bigger

Absolutely superb are you doing it boxart or your own design? I think as time goes on people will start to appreciate this chassis (TD4/TD2) my TD4 is my go to bashing buggy because it's very good to drive it's got the alloy diff nuts in the gearboxes because the original plastic ones lasted about 10 seconds and that's the genuine truth! So that was a wise decision to do your homework before you built it I got my TD4 avante when they first appeared so had no reference to go with!

Made a bit of progress on a TA02 Street Scorcher project today in the way of a Perspex mech deck over the servo end of the tub, rather than the kit one over the battery to be Shorty LiPo friendly. I’ll need to fashion something to hold the battery in place still.

Sorry to hear that.   If you used the oil based Sharpie you can still remove it cleanly using motor spray or CRC MAF cleaner.  Hope you try it again.  GL!  B)

@Re-Bugged Chassis is looking good!  Have you considered some industrial strength hook and loop ( velcro) for the battery?  I use that stuff on my TA05 M-Four and works great.

Foam tape around the sides + your wife’s hair elastic hair tie?  I don’t believe you will going too wild over bumps in a street scorcher

Overall it turned out horrible with blotchiness.  Never had this problem before.  I ended up stripping paint back to the clear body.

Did you mix paint chemistry before full cure?  Not sure what happened there.  :(

On my white roofs I use acrylic white (brush paint) before I hit it with PS for the body colors.  I allow the paint to dry a couple of days before the PS..

Your Beetle with Billy looks fantastic!  Very cool.   B)
