Slooowww progress due to work commitments, but managed to grab a couple of hours this morning to sort a few bits out. Rear spoiler was a nightmare to fit, its out of scale and has little to no contact with the body. I installed some rod into the body to support it.

Really would like to get it finished this weekend as I have a big list of others to do before the UK weather starts making it not ideal weather to paint in.

That's looking awesome @Tobyone 👏

I'd already given up on painting for this year but this mild spell is making me think I might squeeze another one in yet 🧐

As it turns out, Gecks, I found another frame in 9/10 condition and built on that.  Most everything is retro parts from the mid 90’s to ‘08.  The Animal was just donated to a friend who owns a local bike shop, where it will be hung as a display.  Just a few more parts and this gal is ready to go. Just a few more parts and Ol’ Sup shall return to RC.

Excellent news on all fronts, love it! I'm still rocking a set of similar RaceFace cranks on one of mine (actually a BMX set up for MTB riding). Curious to hear how it rides!

Nice ProFlex. My wife still rides her original ProFlex mountainbike. Bought new around 1994. It is 100% original (except tires , brake blocks and other wearing parts).

Dang it.. I just realized the TurboScorpion  box photo has a driver in a orange/red suit, gray gloves, and yellow helmet..

Craps.. I painted mine white with red gloves.    I wasn't even thinking to look at the box when I painted the red gloves last night.   I think I will paint at least the helmet gunmetal.  oh well.. my wobbly brain fully detached last night.

That turned out beautifully, @Re-Bugged!  Wow, I likes.

I need to first look for staggered wheels and tires for mine.. and figure out which chassis I can chop up to make my street version.  Still a couple of projects ahead, so I still have time to check out vendors that sell dorifuto wheels..

Cheers Bud.
They are Tamiya’s 6mm offset on the front 50548, and 50549 10mm offset on the rear (32mm wide)

Your TS looks great 👍🏻 If anyone could handle those Decals I knew you could 😉. Driver looks good to me even if it’s not box art.
I did a driver in red with black seat belts once but had re-do it as he looked to much like Santa 🎅

These look great! Have you considered doing any of the Audi UR Quattro rims? I reckon they'd be really popular for the Audi TT02  kit. There'd be a couple of options such as the original Fuchs rims or the white spoke versions seen a bit later on. Just a thought.....

Love your work, looks great!

Everytime I think 'hey I've got some 3D skills' I see something like these. Great work and lovely renders.

Very nice job painting the engine and components.   The tips look good with that angle.    Congrats, that is one superb one-off car!!     Gorgeous

Thanks for the info on the wheels and inspiration.   I am now highly motivated to do mine in a couple of months too.  B)

First job of the day to fit new totally unnecessary bits to the DT03. I love the look of those front tyres.

Today i designed and printed a battery mount to put some more weight on the rear axle of my Midnight Beetle.

I hope the fact that its new, higher than stock, position wont affect handling too negatively.

What's thinking behind that may I ask?

More traction, bigger wheelies?

Mostly the first, ive not driven it on a high grip surface but this far it only wheelies when slamming full throttle from going in reverse.

Just finished charging a battery so im gonna go out and give it a whirl, if its way unstable i guess ill redesign the bracket holding the gearbox/swing arms to drop the battery down to the original height.

For me, pushed down all the decals once again on the TurboScorpion and making a stand for it.

Currently drying the foam boards using my high precision EWH technologies  clamping system.

You've just made me go and look at my scorpion because I think I did the same as you I didn't think about looking at the box:lol: it doesn't really matter though does it?

Haha, I mean the box is not exactly to the decals included so I suppose it's fine.  I just took the easy route and used gunmetal on the helmet..very safe and neutral color.   :D

So I finished the stand and placed the car on my shelf.   I will rearrange the cars later so that the Kyosho cars are organized in one area.

Okay next up is the dampers for my little 4x4.. :D

IMG_2022-10-29-092652.jpg.750f9ec1871d894b22946c6a63d47a62.jpg

Update.. installed the dampers.  :D

I applied some Green Slime on the o-rings on the cap.. not sure if that helps or not, but it can prevent any binding when capping down..I suppose.  It might just be in my head.. my head tells me weird things often..

I think the car even looks better with the dampers.  Again, might be just all in my head..

Got around to finishing the Slash. This was going to be a project with my niece last summer but we didn’t get time to work on it. Decided to do it myself and surprise her with it on her birthday. Just got to come up with a pink and purple (her favorites) color scheme. Not a bad first R/C for an 8 year old.

This was a joy to build. Traxxas really hit a home run with the manual,  packaging and parts fit. It’s night and day compared to the TRX-1 and Stampede I built in the 90’s. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an entry level kit.

Having originally planned on building it for both of us to use, I purchased a lot of aftermarket parts (RPM, titanium, etc.), but decided to go stock for her. Now I have  almost enough hop-ups  to do a complete separate build.

nice body for the slash. i got the stock hawaian  body RT but swapped out the body shell for illuzion BAJR desert body. i stopped 3/8" or so below the prescribed body lines to give it a slightly  better appearance. have fun painting the rear corners on your body, those angles are a bit more tricky...

The new battery position did cause some instability so i redesigned the rear mount so the batter can sit inside there instead, will go and try this tomorrow:

JfXQtlb.jpg

If i thought the motor would survive it i might have made a Y cable to get 2s2p for 10400 mah extended driving time by putting my other battery in the original place but honestly it would probably burn out unless just creeping around.

The previous, higher up, revised battery mount which gave sideways instability did however wheelie on asphalt, i hope this lower one does too.

Ill still be happy if it doesnt since not rolling over on turns is more important.

There is still space to drop the battery a little further down if i need to.

Really happy with this battery clip tho, due to the elasticity of the PLA it flexes just enough for the battery to slip in and then it locks it firmly into place.

QCIGerK.png

Have the original batter mount empty would allow me to design a different bottom part to give more clearance but since this is essentially a lunchbox chassi, not 4wd i dont think its warranted.

It would be cool to have it be a 4wd monster truck but that would require a lot of design work that im not up for.
