Original shell (left) and new Team C racing repro on right.   Wider wheel arches. No window masking.  Overall turned out well.  Waiting for decals to arrive and paint to dry.

Masking provided by Team C was poor

@Frankster is that bobble head off a Flamingo trike?  :D

Decided my new shelf top needed more life injected..  so added checkered pattern as it should.  B)

I switched back to the Terra Scorcher's original wheels and tires. I haven't run them in well over a year, but I remember liking how they feel on snow very much.

And one the plus side, they really are blindingly fluorescent 😁

Do you drive these bodies?  Will the foam last?

I havent yet but I will do when it decides to stop raining. It actually feels pretty strong. The shoe goo seems to be good balance between adhesion and flexibility. I glued them alnong the edge and then when dry gave them another big blob of a fillet between the body and the flap. The foam is still soft and flexible too so with any luck should just bend out of the way before tearing.

Today, I gave my Lancia 037 a "sympathetic" restoration: everything was washed (if not using an ultrasonic cleaner), lubricated, and reassembled.

BbjjKUY.jpg

Under all that dirt, the car shows plenty of signs of hard use. When it drives as well as it does, though, it is hard not to push it! :D I take great pride in it being a car I simultaneously worked hard on and get to run regularly.

I even managed to get the lights working again:

04tFQdj.jpg

Saving up for a set of Pintopower's Lancia 037 light buckets as we type...

It feels good to have it clean and working again:

JJ8V1ee.jpg

And as part of my mechanical restoration efforts, I trued several comms on my treasured comm lathe:

P44rgFE.jpg

A big technological step back, to be sure, but part of the appeal of this hobby to me is to work on something. Short of going back to mechanical speed controls, this level of involvement is something I enjoy. I can hardly wait to get the car running with its refreshed motor!

I was so happy with the results of this refresh that I nearly made a thread about it :P But this thread exists for endeavours like these.

3D printing today. I made a servo mount to allow the tipper bed to tip on the GF01. The original was a hand made prototype and it was always slightly rough, just being hand cut and not really measured.

Today I fitted the 3D printed version I designed.

LpO0yyT.jpg

It involves drilling one hole in the battery cover just behind the servo

The two rear screws go into holes already in the battery cover.

OgaY6NF.jpg

The plate fits the Rx unit.

Works great. If anyone is interested, I can send the file. You'll need a drill, plastic servo arm, one short 5 mm ball end and a few nuts and bolts.

I like the mock up.  What will be the final material?

It will work for now, but my plan is to contact CMC on Shapeways and get a custom plate printed. If I can get all this to work.

My goal is to eliminate the horrendous bumpsteer of the ORV.  My sassy chassis Frog doesn’t have this problem so I’m trying to replicate the steering setup on the regular ORV frame.  Even then, unless bump steer gets worse, I’ll probably keep it just because.

Lunchie got the headlight!

Used tamiya led unit which works great and much brighter than I expected.

Need to figure out how to install tail lights since lunchbox does not come with led casing for tail lights.

Amazing work! How do you cut perfectly straight circles in styrene? I struggle with that.

Thanks!  I use an Olfa circle cutter.  Basically scoring the styrene with moderate-light force anywhere from 10-30 times per side depending on gauge.. then bend the sheet and circle pops out.  B)

When I made the grill pieces for the shop fan, I thought my thumb was going to fall off..

Durga body isn't finished yet, need painting and stickering (also mesh for the holes) but I couldn't wait to test it.

Light run, no jumps or off-roading just to test things out and I can say I build it correctly :D

Ran through some shallow standing water (it rained the night before) but nothing bad, and I can see where water will collects in that situation. Glad I'm not cutting the bottom end part of the body there.

Today I updated my TC mainsite showroom with a few ongoing projects (only one of them Tamiya) and entered the competition.

The comp this year has the theme 'Showing your age' and it was nice to review old (and more recent photos) and think about the hobby with a warm, nostalgic glow  :D

Generations.jpg

Whilst I didn't have a Tamiya as a kid, there was some RC exposure and I do have a lot of fun now with el kid and the cars and trucks (and my Dad).

Nice @Badcrumble! GL with the competition.  I am sure someone will show up with a dinosaur..

For me, going to continue working on Willy's accessories today.  I am expecting the top CF deck for my Javelin to arrive this morning so looking forward to that.  B)  That black Javelin looks so good, the CF will give it another nice twist...  I hope..

Thanks @Willy iine. I already did - my Dad's in the photo (twice)

Would you mind posting the dimensions of your coffee cups? I wouldn't mind a go at one of those at some point.

I thought I was using my Olfa circle cutter wrong - hadn't realised it takes quite so many turns to get through the material!

I made a bit of a hash of my first attempt at cutting out a wheelearch - too much pressure, unstable base, impatience....

Sure thing, the diameter is 15mm and height is 16mm.  It’s a Willy themed mug so short and fat.  :D

I finished the pod bottoms.. need to work on the lids next..

Update .. pod lids attached… will clean it up a bit after the cement dries.  :D

Next up, basket to place the pods.. but first, WFH..

Final update for today.. I will make a small table to place all of this on.  :D

Got another coat of paint on the track, but left all the cars at my friend's house over 100 miles away. Also started on a 3 lane interchange section.

H26GnTz.jpeg

Ran out of paint after doing 4 corners. So not done the straights yet but did get a little creative with the star from some Heineken packaging..

qJj3vf6.jpeg

I'm going to try and replace the other straight for a 3 lane change and run another track inside??. Maybe? Lol

Took a day off to study for a citizenship test. Ended up rebuilding my DF-01's rear shocks. And by now it would be a pity not to run it before it gets dark. Will have to catch up later :ph34r:

I kinda thought this wouldn't work, if I left both lane changers it wouldn't do a full circuit..

But I carried on regardless..... Lol

pkAP2b9.jpeg

I'll just have to make another track,

*I've got one spare bit so I have to build another complete one, ......

*Remind you of anything? Lol

It's a disease, it must be, we're all sick.

Finished Escort shell and XV-01 electrics.

Which wheels? I reckon gold mini ones with rally tyres, ideally a bit higher profile even than the rally blocks.

And I finally finished building my workbench (well, except a sand and a varnish).

I'm way more excited about my new proper made in Sheffield vise than I should be.
