I finally had a time to drive my XV-01 and CFX today with my friend and our kids. Went to a local RC track which was empty and we had it to ourselves the whole afternoon.

Yesterday i started and Today i finished up the front end of my (xmas gift) Blackfoot.

After some research i decided to go with m3s and nylocks in the indicated locations for more strength, drilling through holes in the uprights.

Gonna prep and sub assemble everything i am able to as i have to wait for bearings.

Doing my Christmas/staycation build and hit a snag when comes to the electrics, I forgot to swap the Tamiya connector on the 1060 to Dean's so got to walk home to solder it up.

Building my first m05. This build will have more hop ups than I have on other cars from the beginning lol. Starting from reinforced gears

I saw that in a model shop once and when I see the price, I picked up a Gundam kit instead!

Added a GT Tuned motor to my (small) collection of contemporary Tamiya motors.

I have all of them 😁

You are missing a Torque Tuned and if you want for completeness, a UGT but I don't think they are worth it over a GT.

I had a full day to myself today to work on RC. It was a blissful day but has returned mixed results.

I fitted the bling steering and rear carbon damper stay to the TD2. The steering parts look and and work beautifully. I’m not entirely sure they’re really worth the money but if you’re as daft as me I recommend.
I also rebuilt the front dampers to try and get more travel and droop. This wasn’t successful. I’ve got more clearance and a bit more travel but they’ve ended up exceptionally stiff. I’m not sure what I did wrong but I’ll have to redo them.

After all that I started on the Blackfoot 2016. This was a lot of fun and a little more unusual than I expected. I didn’t have one back in the day and haven’t built the chassis before. It all went ok until the end. I snapped the G1 brace taking it off the sprue. It’s patched up with loads of reinforced tape and I’ve ordered an alloy replacement off EBay. I guess the existence of an alloy replacement suggests I not the first to do this.
I love the finished truck. It’ll be a week or two until I get it painted but I think it might already be a favourite.

We went traditional with milk and cookies.  Kids said Santa was getting too fat and wanted add a banana 🤷‍♂️.  Missing is the carrot 🥕 which was left for the reindeer

Both great cars 😀 .   The Astute body should have been the Super Avante body with the long narrow nose cone

If you are looking for higher clearance, can you use longer threaded pushrods connecting the lower arm to the bell crank?  I don’t think this will give you more wheel travel

Thanks! I prefer the Astute over the Super Avante too.
That’s a good idea on the pushrods. I’ll look into it. 👍

Just about finished a Turbo Scorpion chassis today..

5F1EF9A3-9192-4EAB-87A7-59E1AF4F44D3.jpg

The metal parts have been lightly polished with an automotive polish/sealant to keep them shiny for a bit longer as I do with SRB’s too.
This one is such a nice build 👍🏻

Visit the not-so-local LHS and came back with a rare Losi Micro Crawler spare part, MST rally tires, Killerbody light set and a Tamiya Porsche 911 RSR kit. :)

I only wanted the Losi spare part but to justify the trip I decided to get the other stuff additionally.

Finished my egress black edition and took apart the dynatech 02h to clean and put new brushes in it (remember when that was the normal thing to do:wub:)  those motors are blisteringly quick with 2s I decided to do the under tray gold backed with black and I got quite a good match to complement the shocks and uprights it's not an absolute perfect match but close enough for me!

For me, I decided I was satisfied with the 3D printed jack stand placement so mounted them onto the shelf with mini mounting tape.  :D

The rear jackstand fits into the lower arm joint preventing any slip.. I can clumsily bump the car any time of day while on the stands without knocking the car over..
