Looking at  the great looking handcrafted scale items you make, you really don't need one.

The printer saves me the trouble of making stuff by hand, I do not have the skills for that kind of work.

In other news, my wife is wanting to gift me a present with a budget of $300..  I came down to 3 options.

Option1 :  M06 Beetle with servo, super mini CVA, servo, receiver, bearings. B)

Option2:  Kyosho Ultima (yeah, I'm done with vintage buggies, but this one is a critical missing piece of the puzzle for sure).. B)

Option3:  Top end black wire shelf to replace the flimsy one I currently use. (this one is well over $500, but she is okay if I chose this route)

Which one would you choose?  I'm leaning towards Option3 at the moment..but what is holding me back is I can't take this unit back to Japan when the time comes due to its size and weight..

Never met your wife but she sound great.  Can she talk to my wife…

Option 1 Beetle M-06. Something more meaningful and memorable.  Kyosho is great and the shelf is practice but add a polycarbonate beetle to your collection.  Battleship red!

Just a quick question regarding the TT-02 Porsche 911 RSR: Do I have to use the long wheel axles for this body or are the wide rear wheel enough?

Edit: Forget my question, I've just checked the parts tree. There are only the standard ones. So the question is already answered.

Good luck with your build.  Send photos

Agreed, what an awesome wife!

For me it would be the below...

I've been trying to find a nice RWD M chassis to mount a spare MK2 Escort body on for a while.
 Today, I found it !!
Now, I have to decide on how to paint the Escort....  I'm thinking like one of my many MK2s that I owned IRL.  Red Velvet Metallic 1300 Sport probably the best choice, however the arches on the Tamiya body lends itself much more to doing a race replica, although Rothmans seems too obvious, so, I'm not sure yet.

Got everything ready for a TT-02B build. I was somewhat inspired by Glenn's Project Performance, as well as the TT-02BR's announcement. I need to track down a Neo Scorcher body, which I'll order once TamiyaUSA's shop opens back up.

Wow nice dilemma, would have to be Option 1 for me I think, not that my username has any bearing on that decision whatsoever 😉

Just don’t park it on the same shelf as all the Mini’s one of them might kick it off when your not looking.

Love it!

Yes, I just need the DF03/TT02B aluminum shocks as well as the aluminum rear uprights (which I think I've tracked down)! I'm not bothering with the oil-filled diffs.

With my "staycation" nearly ending, only doing light work. Replaced some stock parts on the Comical Hopper. Actually I tore the gearbox apart to find that I already have hollow shafts in it. 🤷

I wrecked yet another CVD on my G601 - it's the only thing that seems to consistently fail on this truck, and I've tried the Tamiya and the GPM ones.

Well I was in my loft for a general tidy up today when I came across a box that was tapped up so as you do I took the tape off to be very surprised as I found a hpi rush evo nearly complete with some loose spares (I was pretty sure I sold all my rush evo stuff). The plan now is to strip clean reassemble and see what's needed to get her up and running. I know I definitely need some wheels and tyres and some fuel.

Thanks @Re-Bugged and everyone, I decided to go with the M06 Beetle.  :D  Main reason is I don't know why, but recently really gravitate towards classic Beetles and made sense to have a corsa gray one (box art) in my lineup.  I willl include Billy as driver and make another seat back for him. Hopups is very basic.. bearings which I already have, Super Mini CVA, and Tamiya's high torque servo saver.

@Frankster  I thought about battleship red, but I already have several blue Beetles so decided to go with a classic light gray color.  B)  I should have it in my hands in a few days.

As for electronics I will run off my 7PXR, 204GF-E, 1252MG, 1060 with SportTuned motor I have rolling around in my parts bin.

I ordered a couple more 1252MG's this morning to swap the servo again on my Hakosuka GTR.  The "high speed" JX servo is 0.12- 0.13sec 6V at best..which is marginally better (?) than the stock RTR servo.   But at $15, not bad at all.  1252MG is night/day faster and that is the speed I need on my little makeshift track..

We finished our twin Element Enduros bar the painting (pretty much)

20230107_160844

So, because my son is 9, and RC me is barely any more mature than that, we took them out unpainted in the mud and the rain.

20230107_170139

We had a heap of fun, but the steering spring has gone on my transmitter, so I'll have to have a go at bodging that. On a crawler it's not really a disadvantage I don't think, but I use this for everything else too. Is that a thing on the Absima CR3P? Would love to know if there's an easy fix, or any other wisdom I should gather before I crack it open?

Edit: update - pretty easy to access the transmitter spring. I've bodged this one to work and will order another - turns out it's available as a spare. Well done Absima.

3D printed two front suspension parts for the Juggernaut, but forgot that left and right parts should be a mirror image.....

For me, I decided I did not like the color on the Willy and Bob figure hands and Willy’s face looked a bit pale so fixed that.

Before..

IMG_2023-1-7-152427.jpg.50e9a50dc12c46282907e88909d4a3ae.jpg

After..

IMG_2023-1-7-152444.jpg.1ed6fe4e35ebac9d2fca5bb9261cd2ea.jpg

IMG_2023-1-7-152503.jpg.a2f41b957890c04018e2d9c04117aac8.jpg

Then swapped the receiver (to run 7PXR) and servo (1252MG) on my Kyosho Hakosuka GTR.. and while the electronics was fine, mechanically the suspension damping was all over the place so fixed it.

I found that the dampers were not fully filled at the factory and the oil was way too soft.   I changed to 40 wt front 30 wt rear, and swapped springs to HPI’s old RS4 factory springs.  It is significantly softer than stock.  And now the car drives properly!  :D

Most of my day was spent on the Mid build again. I'm slow, I know! But I often stretch my builds as much as possible, in the hope of squeezing all the enjoyment and  learning and fun out of them.

I'm afraid I really went full OCD on the shocks this time. I can't test run them yet, so in the past couple days there was a lot of this...20230107-185841.gif

...like, a lot:ph34r:

🤣

Luckily for me my wife doesn't think I'm going crazy, for now. Anyway, after all that mad compulsive shock squeezing (which actually feels good!! 🤪 very much like those stress relief balls) I have detected some... "humidity" at the bottom of the shock cups. I reckon the amount was about, maybe a full drop on the rears, and less than that on the fronts. Hard to say if they actually leak: it could be their own residual shock oil (it gets messy in the filling process, and I might have not cleaned them as accurately as needed after installing the springs), or even some "regurgitation" of whatever extra didn't come out during the sealing but is doing so now due to pressure when the piston compresses. Come to think of it, I think I noticed that whenever I'm done building new shocks -or servicing existing ones- some slight "humidity" does occurr in their bottom end for the first couple days, or for the first run. Then they "settle" and stay dry once cleaned.

But now I'm too obsessed to have a sound view on the thing, so time to man up and move on  time will tell.

One thing's for sure: if they dare leak, I'm not giving up!! Next thing will be substituting the O rings with some Associated ones and pack the whole shock bottom cap in green slime (which I need to get). But objectively, I'm still hoping that they will work fine like this, and that it's just me going bananas.

Enuff about that! It's now time to install the motor and the electronics. This time I tried to go for sober colors, black servo with steel accents and same for the motor. Too bad I didn't think the ESC through color-wise, I wish I got one with black cables as @toyolien did, but it's ok, no big deal. The motor looks pretty mean, I forgot about that since I got it last Summer20230106-153939.jpg

20230106-153948.jpg

Electronics bench tested today and everything is working! Yay, as I doubt I could claim anything on some gear bought almost 6 months ago.

Now, I knew it was going to be a tight spot for the ESC... but still 😳  not a task for the claustrophobic. I haven't played Tetris in forever, and this just felt like it, though at least you can bend the cables! I lost count of how many hours I spent trying to make it fit. It was harder than expected, also because I was going to sacrifice the fan to better fit the ESC, but decided against it last minute. Also, am I glad I did some thinking ahead and figured out the electronics together instead of just installing the motor a see the ESC later (they barely mention or draw the cables in the manual 😆). I would have had to take it apart again for soldering/fitting cables.

Anyway, after many attempts, I think I found the right position for the ESC.

20230107-185745.jpg

It's not attached yet, I'll do that once I solder the cables and make sure everything fits and that the servo can still "serve"!! Very tight in there indeed. I think I might even gently drill two holes in the bottom of the ESC casing so that I can fit it flush with a spacer and two bottom screws as per the manual... it would feel so nice and tidy. And once firmly set in that spot, it won't protrude any further than the battery tray:20230107-185730.jpg

That's it for today. Excited to keep going.

Thanks for reading and sorry about the extra blabber!

Today I fitted original wheels and tyres to my DF-01, added an RX, and tested and set up the electronics. Here she is, sitting next to her little, but more sophisticated brother. Now she's ready for a run🙂

Ah man that car is so sweet Willy, it's like a Japanese version of Eleanor (if you seen Gone in 60 seconds). Makes me very tempted, it's £250 in the UK.
