Got to finally run my recently upgraded TT-02. This thing cooks! 13.5T brushless on 2S 90C lipo at 72/35 gears. Handles pretty bad but I have the upgraded steering set coming. I'm not racing so will see if that does it for my purposes. Couldn't floor it more than a second so need to get to a better place for some long straights and less bumps. May need some toe in in the rear to help w/ the straights. We'll see how much more money I throw at this before I say "done".

In between the honey do list I’m making a no rush completion here. But hmmmm, do I pull the motor and esc from the dn01 since it’s awaiting repairs ? 3250kv

It has been quite a while since I had been able to work on my trail truck. I found the steering horn bound on the panhard rod.

So ordered a new one which was on back order, then lockdown happened....

...the horn eventually arrived but it and the truck were in the office while I was WFH. I managed to rescue them a couple of weeks ago. Fitted the new RC4WD horn today - much better!

Went to test run the chassis and realised I don’t have the ESC and BEC - must have left them in the office. D’oh!

I also moved the servo winch to attach  below the mount plate as it had been stopping the body from sitting properly. Of course, this meant that I couldn’t refit the nice and chunky front cross-member / bumper mount! To do so will mean taking a Dremel to the mount.

I have decisions to make now -

Do I fit the GCM 3D printed sliders? To do so means cutting the body. But I’ll have somewhere to mount the ESC and rx.

Do I go LiPo? To stay with NiMH means cutting the body and making a battery box. But I won’t have the added cost of new batteries / chargers (both would be out of my reach for a while).

So it looks like I’ll be attacking the body...

Added a few more blingy bits to my CC-01 Land Rover. Still on original Shocks at the moment as i cant find anything i like or are suitable.  tried some from Amazon but they were so sticky and with minimal travel i soon removed them. Have ordered some rear aluminium suspension links and adjustable damper mounts from RCMart but still looking for Shocks.

Took my life in my hands and machined 0.1mm off  the top of the milling machine bed to remove 14 years worth of gouges. Didn't come out perfect but it's better than it was before.

With pleasure, sadly no chipmunks to bring into shot though.

Dont feel too jealous, they're only buying their time until he turns his back for too then theyre all going to jump him.

With their suspicious little black beady eyes....

Having set the world record for the most ‘Out Of Stock’ descriptions read in one day I turned my attention to painting some windscreen wipers for the SS, and dug out a static Bike kit I’d started a few years ago.

I added some more stuff to my mini rock crawler course this morning, really enjoying the challenge and convenience of it (unfortunately it is outside so it is still subject to our winter weather).

As the sun was setting I took the Konghead and Dump Truck for a run. I like the photo effects that my phone does, but as someone who enjoys photography almost as much as RC they do look a little over-processed. Still, better than my old phone.

Been to the LHS and got a body. Son follows me in, produces 120 sheets from his wallet and buys himself this Banzai. Must admit it seems OK for the brass. Everything is removable and upgradeable and a decent etronix trigger transmitter.

Interesting ESC plug there. Not seen one of those before. What format its that?

My FF-01 is 24 year old kit and it has been sitting in the shelf for display. It gets some additional upgrades once in a while but I had no plans of running it again. I decided to install some electronics and make it work. It may get some occasional "behaved" runs on the street but that's it. No racing of any kind with this baby. It has so much sentimental value for me. I installed a Holmes 27t brushed motor, 60A GoolRC ESC, SPT 4412LV low profile servo and an extra Radiolink RX I've had since last year as spare.

The story behind that - when  I started in RC in the mid-80’s (NiCD was the only battery available) the racers would use Deans 4-pin connectors because they are small and light. I have been using them since. I’m old school and still run NiMH in everything. Each pin is good to 10A, so by soldering each battery wire to 2 pins, it’s theoretically a 20A connector.

Sold my Wild One and my last spare charger and radio set.

Ordered a new radio set which will see me right for the next few years.

Thinking about my next Tamiya related items to deal with.

I’m spending most of my evening endlessly polishing scratches out of chassis plastic for the next GF-01 I’m putting together, there’s quite a difference between between straight out the bag and closing in on being polished…

Today I went out to see Munchy again, this time with the Manta Ray for a change. As usual, the furry friend was more than happy to check out the car and to pose with it in exchange for a few treats

20200524-151046.jpgSome sleek shapes lurk in the grass!

20200524-151726.jpgWhat now?? Chipmunks can be clumsy too, you know..

20200524-151516.jpgLook at all those blue hop-ups inside... too much bling for me, mate

20200524-151329.jpgWell, now that I've posed for you, I expect there will be treats coming...

20200524-150123.jpg...right??

20200524-150938.jpgYes Sir... being awesome is a full time job!

I'm fantasizing about printing out mini versions of these photos, so he could hang them as posters up the walls of his burrow 😅 He's adorable

Ran the TL-01, which ended prematurely when it shed a wheel  lost the drive pin but found the wheelnut. Discovered that the original tyres are split too. Still can't decide what bodyshell I want ot put on it, seeing as the Alfa one is damaged and you can't get the sticker set any more. It also now needs new wheels as the old tyres are glued on...

Tided up the CW-01 tyres
