Events have conspired against me (phone packed up and I've had to re-arrange coming in to the office later this week) so I've had to rush my competition entry even more than usual! So not post-production editing as I'd hoped...

Took my daughter and the GF01 to the park today, it’s hugely satisfying having the play taken out of the steering, feels like a different kit now with it going in a straight line and smaller steering movements being recognised.

Installed the HW Quickrun BL120 esc and 4000kv 8.5 turn motor combo in the TT02S just now. I'm rethinking my perception of reality because of it.

Here it is with the decidedly normal Tamiya sport tuned 'test' setup:

And HERE it is after I'd run it in my living room at VERRRY low speed just to make sure it's making all the right noises, and that nothing seems off (nothing seemed off). And then, just for ****s and giggles, I held it in my hand and mashed the throttle for a SPLIT second. This is what happened:

Basically 3 tires instantly dislocated from the wheels, and the 4th was launched across the living room so fast that I couldn't tell where the it went. I looked around for a few minutes before I found the stray tire in the furthest corner of the room under a table.

Note to self: GLUE THE TIRES BEFORE DOING SOMETHING STUPID LIKE THIS AGAIN.

Started the laborious but enjoyably therapeutic job of customised Sand Scorcher body work.

Braved the heat, it's been hitting 45*C and 55% humidity this week, and took the Blitzer for a bash ...

spent the last two weeks machining 4 more rims for my LandFreeder. The fifth and first one I did, will be the spare. Next I'll try machining a set of wheel hubs.

 

I still have the machine a lip or edge at the back of the rim as its rubs against the hub if I tighten the wheel nut too much

Now I have the (painted) body for the M05-RA, it is time to get back on with the build.

Took advantage of a sunny day and no family in attendance over lunch to paint the chassis guards.

I started off with a used can of silver. Oops! Glad it will go under the body and not be too visible!

I would like to do that, I think this build I’m classing as maybe a reintroducing to the hobby and this next one I have planned will be the one I take some photos of, it’s the silly things that go on them that have had me annoyed at times, after much thought I’m also going to buy a motor over 4000kv for more top end speed, It’s funny how much of a short acceleration range these brushless systems have, the 3300kv seems brilliant at sharp bursts of energy and hill climbing.

Shaved some weight from the original Top Force Diff on the lathe.
Saved 3,3gr (from 11,9 to 8,6gr). Could be done a bit more, but want to keep some safety margin.

Finished my first drifter...a TT02R bought as a deal from Tamico, with a rear diff lock and added Yeah Racing steering, battery posts and suspension mounts, a Fastrax carbon battery stay and Tamiya Drift Spec wheels and tyres. First run with the Rolson tube cutter wasn't great, so saved the other 3 body posts for another day.

The ready-painted Datsun 240 body, with light kit installed, came from Seidel with help from @Mokei Kagaku and it's gorgeous (even if I did have to cut a new antenna hole); thanks man! 

Even on a test run around the small garage, this is a LOT of fun, recreating some Baby Driver moves . Out for a proper test tomorrow

Love that 240z  I've got a TT02 on the way, can't decide on a body yet though. 

I fancy an old school skyline.

This is the last of the 4 m-chassis haul to be stripped, cleaned and rebuilt.

Not really sure what direction to go with it, but found this "Islander" spec Jeep online and love it:

Problem is I can't find the side / bonnet graphics anywhere, does anyone have any pointers?

No, not fun. I took off a little off using curved lexan scissors but I think I’ll switch to a blade and go slowly. Perhaps try splitting it into two halves first.

@Badcrumble that whole leaxan part is really a challange. go way slow. the four parts that come off there are not the easiest to follow
