Started cleaning up the Clod Buster, it’s looking much happier and have fallen in love with it again, looking for x4 new tires, doesn’t look like it’s leaving... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Made a start on the GT1

not sure if I’m saving the build for the winter months, I guess I’ll see how excited I am after the stickering!

Took the Top Force for a spin in the garden, I haven't painted the nib body yet so I threw this old egress shell on.

Then I randomly sat it on the TA04

Reminds me of a big mini 4wd!

Built the TRF Big Bore shocks and installed them on the M08. Went with the waste not/want not approach and installed the M08s CVAs on my M05 which had friction shocks 🤷‍♂️

Those shocks look a bit funny next to a silver can mate, I’ll send you my address to send them to me as they will look much better next to my Black can 😁

Hobbyrama I see @yogi-bear 😉, my S/Blitzer, Brat & Buggy Champ body + other bits came from there. Handy as my BIL lives just round the corner  👍🏻
Enjoy the build.

it was indeed Hobbyrama, an impressive hobby store, I could have easily spent a few hours there! I also managed to visit OZ-RC, they also have a lot of stock. I picked up paint for the Holiday Buggy (TS-52, candy lime green), plus a Subaru Forester Body, some PS-15 metallic red for same body and a new 5200mAh battery to try and make me do more driving.

Bu it'll be a while before I get to build those two, still have to get back to the laser cut acrylic stands first   and I have some vac forming I need to do.

I've been admiring the beauty of NOS Tamiya screws - the gold/yellow plating on them is sooo lovely!

Oh yes, something about the gold zinc plating gives those vintage chassis some extra bling 😍

Waste not/want not? What about the stacks of tires in the background? LOL

Haha 'supplies' 😁 also the M04 rears and the M05 fronts are both bald. I had 8 sets of 1:1 wheels for one car once, these are cheaper 😄

Hahaha. I have other motors, just not something 'suitable'. Looking at some of tamiyas UGT Tuned motors for the M08, and future M07 😎

A sure sign of lockdown fever.

No doubt you've got them all nicely lined up in size order and grouped by shades of gold/yellow plating 😂

What's so funny about that? :mellow:

:P

True though

Finished up installing a new Factory Works chassis on the Super Boomerhotshoterang. I normally don't like to deviate from the stock appearance too much on my models but this one has always been the exception so I went for it. The kit's fit and finish is great but it is very cramped if you use the Associated bellcrank for the steering system which reduced bump steer a good bit. The receiver is tucked up under the driver and the ESC (which I had to swap out for my small Novak XRS) is mounted just ahead of the gearbox. The battery seems moved a bit forward, which yields better balance. With the body and Super Shot underguard  fitted, it still looks fairly stock.

I agree - I've got the very similar set for the Boomerang and it's a lovely chassis. Plus Geoff at Factory Works is a true gent and very helpful.

TOTALLY USELESS, but it looks fantastic tbh...

But it looks much better so that's useful to your eyes. Haha!

I did the same to my Radiolink and Sanwa.

Something I have often wondered about steering wheels on transmitters: why do they look like road wheels? They are steering wheels! I'd like to fit mine with something that looks like a Momo, not an OZ...

Nor today but yesterday. Finally installed the bluebottle on the Manta Ray, thank you @Re-Bugged for all the hints! :D

I was psychologically prepared for a few attempts and many hours of frustration, but this time everything seems to have gone well first try, even the tuning of the TBLE02S with its single button.

Once ready, it was dark and pounding rain outside, so the test drive will have to wait til today once I'm back home from work. I can't wait!

I couldn't resist a quick livingroom run though, and that was enough to show me this is indeed another level.

Probably not the finest soldering job ever done, but it's nice and solid and it should do. Will finish it off later with some heat shrink or electrical tape.

Next thing is mounting brand new vintage spiked Eagle tires, and at this point maybe a facelift too, just to increase the tension once it's on duty again...

I took out my TT02S for a spin this morning, and the 4000kv 8.5t HW motor with the BL120 esc stretched their legs for the first time, and my, what long legs you have grandma! It ran like a bat out of heck (ahem); in fact I had to turn it down to 50% throttle just to be able to drive it a few minutes without smacking into the nearest sidewalk. 24t pinion made sure the top end was chassis-crunchingly fast if I were to hit anything. The car was VERY smooth to drive though, and I could ALMOST hold a power-slide for a second or two if I focussed. Exhilerating!

Now for some pics of what I did later this evening (hint: worked on the TT02S some more lol)....

Here is the car with the stock front knuckles:

IMG-20200804-004241.jpg

And here it is after I'd swapped in some FF03 aluminum knuckles (YR) and TB04 carbon reinforced hub carriers (Tamiya) in preparation for the double-cardan setup I've ordered:

IMG-20200804-012501.jpg

I then got to work installing a Fibrelyte upper chassis brace:

IMG-20200804-015705.jpg

....and a Yeah Racing gyro (bonus, it can be controlled via channel 3 on the transmitter! Whoo!):

IMG-20200804-022220.jpg

Finally, here is the car so far next to the excessively blingy Futaba transmitter :

IMG-20200804-030907.jpg

I can't wait to try it out with the gyro to see what difference that makes to stability.

EDIT: Bonus points to whomever can spot what else I installed. Hint, you can see the 'change' in the last pic relative to the ones before.

would that be a gyro? I've been tossing up the idea of installing one in a Sand Scorcher.

Haven't tried it yet, so I can't comment on its usefulness. I will definitely put in my two cents once I do though.

Stay tuned.... testing will be done 2 days from now.

That's a nicely modified TT02 @DeadMeat666. I'm sure it cost you a lot on that build but worth it. :)

By the way, are there any aluminum suspension arm mounts available for TT-02? If so, do you have plans on changing them?

Would those be the bumper mounted front body posts?

Decided to start building this...

IMG_6733.jpeg.8c1e1297e363b46c726528caa88f4c2b.jpeg

I bought it about a year ago from my LHS (ahhh, the memories!), a lunchtime impulse buy as it was hugely reduced due to the damaged box and it's been in the loft ever since. I wasn't that pushed on the body so sold the shell / sticker set and bought a Sand Scorcher body set instead, so it's going to be a bit of a Beetle Mash-Up!

Why thank you! It's quite finished yet, but almost there.

Sadly there are no aluminum lower suspension mounts available for the TT02S, but it does come with steel mounts on the FF and RR lower arms. I did find a decent amount of slop on both ends that I need to close to get them to stop wobbling though.
