I added some upgrades to the TA02SW Porsche Vaillant, Dyna Run stock motor, high-torque servo saver and turnbuckles to replace the upper control arms front and rear. The rear control arms are quite useful to me because I wanted to reduce the negative camber and increase the contact patch a bit, the front ones are just for fun, I had the parts laying around so why not.

Went looking in my bedside drawers for some vitamin tablets and found two 29T pinions!

I needed one more for the Agrios build and they are out of stock at Modelsport. Yay!

Katsu orange finally got uncovered this morning

Finally managed to get some PS1 to get this finished up, had a bit of a learning curve with painting, masking and not doing it in the cold, and trying to cover too much too quickly!IMG-20210127-WA0040.thumb.jpeg.2778be01fbff60810cad45a83ae8caf5.jpeg

Put new bearings in the chubs of my tamiya wt-01, on bearing lost his balls:D and the rest where not so smooth anymore.

Also put in a new hobbywing max 10 esc, to replace the piece of junk trackstar esc that broke the last time I drove the truck, it has not many runs on it before it failed and I had to use a lipo alarm because the lipo cuttof was to low and a lot of times the reverse would not work, from now on I am not going to buy cheap esc's anymore, but only hobbywing esc's never had a problem with them.

I recommend the Hobbyking X car esc series. Especially 120A. It uses the same firmware as Hobbywing and same setup program. In my opinion hobbywing brushless escs are overpriced.

I had 3 of the hobbyking x car esc's 2 120A and 1 60A  all of them broke after some time so they are not that good, an  hobbywing esc is more expensive then the cheaper brands but in the 6 years I am using them I never had one that broke or failed so you get what you payed for.

I had some other brands to and the trackstar, not one of them comes close in terms of reliabiliy, easy programming and how smooth they drive, so for me no more cheap esc,  all my 11 esc's are hobbywing now.

Totally in agreement, I've got one chassis at the moment and a couple of bodies and maybe some more on the way, I plan only to really run on of them but a bit undecided what to do with the posts at the moment!

Were they in the vitamin drawer because they were considered iron supplements? :D:rolleyes:

I have the 120A for two years almost and a trackstar 80A esc also for two years.

both work great and the X Car escs setup same as the hobbywing as they are using same firmware anyway.

I think you are on a hobbywing trip and cant see the woods because of trees. :D

I am not on a hobbywing trip:D, the x car esc's you only can program the with the usb dongle a program card do not work but I had 3 x car esc's and they all died, when they work they are as good as the hobbywing, but they are not the same quality.

The trackstar 80a I did not like at all ,very limited programming, I had to use a lipo alarm because it cut the lipo of at 3.0 volt per cell that is to low for a lipo, and it was not smooth and a lot of times the reverse would not work on mine, and after 10 runs it died.

so buying cheap esc that die after a few or 10 runs are not cheaper in the end, then buying a hobbywing that after years and 100 of runs stil works.

for me the hobbywing are the most reliable and yes they are 2 times the price of an cheap one  but in the end they are worth it.

I'm getting my FIRST FF03 near the finishing stages.... spacer.png BUT!!!! After 40+ years of Painting - I completely BLEW IT because it was way too cold. 😭😭😠😠😠 ....... I'll need some strategically placed Sponsor Stickers!! 😜😂

Better luck on the Window DECKALS though... spacer.png I always cut that middle bit out, tinted or not. The clear Vinyl will NEVER look as good as the clean Polycarbonate!! 😉

.... And this is before a proper cleaning! spacer.png

Acto power Black touring special found its way into my TL01. I changed out the silvercan and MKtronics for this and a novak GT7. I miss reverse but I love the control.

Super happy with it! Need to change the plug on the ESC and neaten some wiring but its all coming together really nicely. I don't think there's much more I can do to it!

Yeah, the wheels I had on there were nice, but I always prefer these as they look better on it, have a similar flavour to Mugen NR-10's that were the optional wheel for the CRX.

Edit: these wheels were Campagnolo Magnesium wheels IRL, hence made for the Fiat Abarth.

Flipped the lower rear arms round on this M03 as I’d fitted them incorrectly many moons ago and then parked the build.

B7140313-8DBA-4A75-9BA7-44F6414C97CA.jpg

Managed not to lose any of the e-clips removing and refitting them which was a bonus.

Annoyingly, I think I have spotted an Alu pinion in there. Not quite sure how that got past me. Possibly because this was destined to be my wife’s car and therefore spend its life on the shelf!

On that basis, do I fit it with the Super Mini CVAs I found in the garage or keep them for the inbound MF-01X...? Decisions...

@Badcrumble Do you plan on USING the MF-01X? I'd say if the M03 is going to be Wifey's Shelf Queen.... Fit the Mini CVAs on the 01X. 😉

Of course if she doesn't want the M03 at all - I'LL TAKE IT!!! 😁😊😉

I got my aluminum shocks filled with Losi 40wt oil. The first shock was a bit stressing as it's new to me. Striping plastic or aluminum threads isn't good. Didn't strip any on them but I think the Teflon orings weren't sitting 100% but they were atleast 90% seated right before the threads finally seated properly. The bottom cap was tight by hand and no thread overlap/stripping. I'm not completely sure how to install the shock mounts to the TT02 as the stock ball mounts don't seem compatible the machined screws and sleeves look like they are supposed to thread into the plastic mounting holes on the chassis. I will try it when the sun rises.

Not sure what sort of tension on the spring is  ideal but 1 full rotation of the adjustment collar. I'm not sure what tension the purple springs are rated for but I used them as they came with the hop ups.

If I had any sense, I’d take this minty chassis, add my box-fresh Tamiya Mini body and stick it on eBay. I’d hopefully make enough to buy at least an M07.

Bit then Mrs BC wouldn’t get the car I had planned for her! And I hate getting rid of things... Fear of regret...

I think I’ll build the CVAs now, I’ll add some to the list of hop-ups I’d like for the ‘01X. I have a body ready for it - Monster Swift - that I didn’t use on my M05-RA.

If you really want another M03, I reckon you could build one from NIP parts for less than you pay for a second hand Tamiya Mini! Though if SWB, you’d need a body...
