Wanted to take the Blitzer Beetle for a spin in the snow. But it was way too powdery, so Blitzer got stuck after 2 meters even with sand paddles. So I decided to give the Bullhead a go, but it also struggled and got stuck a few times so I stopped it. But at least I've got some nice picturese of it in the snow.

For Christmas my wife bought me an electric hot chocolate maker. There are various mixes that yo can get. Haven’t been feeling fantastic the last few days so tested myself to an 85% chocolate with a tot of spiced rum  in it. I feel better already

I need more information about this device, especially as the reviews are so great ;)

I don't like tea or coffee (yet), so an auto chocolate maker would fill that niche!

Sorted out 8 for sale. Further reduction in the collection. Needs must. They are on the sales pages if interested. Will ebay them when a selling fees deal comes around. Luckily for me, I enjoy having different chassis etc for a while, working out how they work and then selling them off. If I could just stop buying TA01/02 chassis I might find other things new.

Good day so far...

I got my Mini back from the mechanic (luckily a mechanic is considered "essential service" and he's less than 5kms away) after a little bit of "fettling." Alta 15% supercharger reduction pulley and an Alta cold air intake. Annoyingly we dyno'd it before the work but the dyno place is not considered "essential service" so finding out the power gain will be something for another day. It certainly pulls harder and feels a lot quicker. Stay tuned.

Oh, and 3 more cars run, too!

Sprayed a Metallic silver base coat on the Knight Hauler yesterday, posted today as TC seemed to be broken all day?

Anyhow the Montana Spray is nice stuff to use. A lovely finish straight out the can, very smooth, no orange peel at all. The paint is nice and thin much like Tamiya paint, so much so it took a build up of 4 coats as the grain of the plastic (the sort of swirly injection pattern) was ghosting through. All good now though. Just got to decide on the finished paint job now, not that I can do much for another week. I wasn't going to go Box art but the Montana Metallic Black is very nice 🤔

Will a candy red or blue go over the top of that, maybe?

Yesterday I took my Arrma Granite 3s out to the soccer fields again for some speed runs. I bought a Gens Ace 3s 5500mah 50c battery for it last weekend and have been stopping by on the way home every day after work. I am a little annoyed. The ESC in this truck is hitting the LVC at 3.8v per cell. A fully charged cell is 4.2v. When I put it back on charge it is only taking approx 2500mah to full. I realise 'speed runs' sap power, but I am getting 5-6 minutes out of this battery. The guys on the Arrma FB pages think this is acceptable. Riight...

Also heard a rumour that NZ won't be getting any new Tamiya until maybe April...  so won't be getting my Escort or M07 any time soon 😔

The choice of Montana Metallics are a bit limited unfortunately & I was hoping that maybe the transparent colours might show the Metallic of the silver through them but that hasn't quite worked in some trials 😬. It's a pity as they have a huge range of solid colours.

I did if fact order some blue but was out of stock, but the Dupli Colours spray over the top without reacting so is a possibility and I can get those from Supercheap Auto. Funny you mention Candy Red as that was high on the list at the start. I'm keen for a trio of colour on this now. Just a case of which ones. I've also seen a rather nice Orange/Red Colorado as well 🤔

One thing is for certain though, and I'm very much undecided at the moment 🙃

Some of the paint I have got was with the Fighting Buggy in mind as well and if I have to wait til' April for that like you in NZ that would be great timing for my Birthday 😃 Time to start putting some pictures of one on the Fridge.

The 100a blx esc in the arrma are junk, I had the same problems with mine in a typhon 3s getting 8 minutes on a 5200mah  55/100 3s lipo this in not normal, with the same batteries I get a 25 minutes runtime on my losi rock rey and traxxas rustler 4x4.

if you want to keep the arrma do yourself a favour and buy a hobbywing max10 sct esc for it, then you get longer runtimes.

I was very disappointed with mine arrma, servo is crap so is the radio and the esc, broke the suspension arm only from light bashing never broke an suspension arm on my tamiya, problems with the gears and leaky shock, I sold mine because I did not want to replace all the elektrics and other parts

It’s by Hotel Chocolate. I don’t drink much tea or coffee but love hot chocolate. It’s called a Velvetisor and is electric. Takes about 2 mins to make the most sublime drink. The company make about 8 mixes which basically raw grated chocolate of different percentages and some flavours like mint, hazelnut and salted caramel. Chocolate goes from 35% to 100% cacao. Highest I’ve tried is 85%. You don’t have to use there chocolate you can just grate up any brand. The advantage of their chocolate is it’s done just right to melt and dissolve at the temperature that machine gets to. It has a build in whisk that is connected magnetically to the motor. A rally clever bit of kit❤️❤️❤️❤️

What's the volume like on those? I was bought a Lavazza 'a modo mio' which has the same magnetic whisk idea. It's great but will only take 120ml of milk at a time so for more than one drink, a queuing system is employed followed by a quick blast in the microwave at the end! I've only tried drinking chocolate in it so far - rave reviews from wife and child -  I don't know if mine can get as hot the Hotel Chocolat machine.

Big fans of H-C in this household. My late Mother-in-law was a member of the postal 'tasting club' (this was back before they had many shops). A visit to NI would always include her holding court and doling out chocolate for review!

Again it only does one cup at a time but it’s worth waiting for. This one of the cups that come with it 3E2BC3ED-99C7-4B3F-8691-01EE0E1F04DB.jpeg.b20fd7027453463f651ce6d9616b1013.jpeg

Yep mid March apparently for Aus, so even paint now is getting harder to get, particularly the common colours

Had a little Postal Racing sortie yesterday, completed a race and then lost drive on my TA07.

I assumed a loose pinion by the noise, so as it was cold I called it a day and went back in.

Some free minutes at lunch today, so I thought I'd have a look...

Turns out the pinion was all fine, but the belt was off...

IMG_2406.jpg

Pretty sure that stone isn't a stock item!

Small nick in the belt, which may or may not be related to this incident, but not enough to look too dangerous. The dirt, grime and stone pick up is quite impressive though. I can see why some folks prefer not to run open belt drive cars for 'bashing'!

Took the opportunity of Mrs and child out for a walk to nip into the garage over lunch.

Attempted some styrene bending for a roll cage in my Mini.

4141A3BE-19CD-47F7-ABE0-E8C49A2C82AE.jpg

The main hoop ended up a little narrow (and that was the second attempt, the template was a little small) but it was fun to do and I managed to not burn down the garage.

Now to finish the interior and play around with some Blu-tack, trimming it all to fit.

Installed sway bars in one of my re re Javelins.

Besides being a pain, I am wondering whether I should have left it the way it is. My other re re Javelin (converted Turbo Optima) has sway bars and I like the way the two cars have different characters.

Still, disconnecting or uninstalling the sway bars is easy enough if i want to go back.

Had a dry day today so did a bit of rattle can work as er indoors won't let me spray indoors. The grills and light buckets were done with mini pots and an airbrush which I can get away with.

Needs masking tape removing as the ridges are silver, rubbing down and laquering but I'm well happy with the colour. It's Halfords paint and it's Citroen Wicked Red Metallic, slightly darker than box art but I really like it

I got in a quick run with the DJI spark yesterday, then finished off the evening with the first night run for the Kyosho Mini Z.

My maths tells me that's 12 cars (and the drone) so far. I also found some more shelf space in the garage for my 'beater' Bandit.

My plan for today, because it's too warm to run anything fast outside, is to run a few inside vehicles - Q32, SW-01, HBX Devastator... we'll see.
