Thanks @berman, I knew it had to be somewhere! Since getting those posts I managed to get a couple of NIP body post sprues so will switch them out for originals...maybe.

I have metal hexes and a stabiliser set located and a nice chassis brace somewhere, just need to dig through the parts stash.

The 3D printed posts are courtesy of @VagabondStarJXF of this parish.

This was going to have a Giulia but will get the Escort now. I have another stock M04 which will get the Giulia when I am brave enough to trim and paint it!

Spent a moment thinking about buying a Konghead and an Avante body to mash together into a 6-wheeled future jungle-racing beast...

Doable????

i don’t think the nose will quite cover the chassis width, but thinking it might be ok?

Or worse still, sat in its box unbuilt!

Don't worry, this is what they're made for, they aren't supposed to be static models, crashes are inevitable, otherwise there would be no need for spares :)

I reckon it was worth a try. It can't be any worse than the stock body!

Nothing much RC related really. Did a bit of detail enhancement on the Flamingo three wheeler. As stock all the engine is just a black moulding and the drivers body is the same. Also his head is mounted on a spring so he’s like the old nodding dog on the back shelf of 60’s cars. So I took his head off and painted his body. Fixed his head back permanently 70E4E0EF-7ABA-4055-92B5-01F04F6AFA7B.jpeg.1a2f89a21102efc8d298ac6246dc51c2.jpeg

then put some details on the motor

looks much better. If anybody is looking for a neat fun vehicle this is well worth the £100 odd that it cost. It reminds me of the sidecar combo only the front wheel is in the middle. I’ve also discovered that the rear wheels have 12mm hexes so will take any M series tyres!!
Also did a a bit of static stuff

this is an Airfix 1/35 scale WW2 Honey. It’s very shiny at the moment as I’ve just done the decals. Water slide decals hate matt finishes as the carrier film shows up silver. Will give a coat of Satin or Matt to seal it when it’s done.

The flying brick got new beadlock wheels, aluminum swingarm holders, and an aluminium body mount brace...

Repairs from crashes during speed runs...

The new motor and esc showed up 3 minutes after I left for work... I know what I'm doing at 1230 tonight...lol...

Had some fun with my TT02 today, has a few mods nothing fancy. Rally block tyres and a Celica ST185 Gt4 body. B) Screenshot_20210308_215219.thumb.jpg.e6e438449f70722bd4b240e76091e83e.jpg

Sunday: Plenty of boating in the morning, not much in the afternoon, just some mirco crawling on my outside track.

Monday: Ran the Summit, Konghead, Dump Truck and B5 over at my off-road track, then added lights to my (brushed) Bandit for some more evening off-road fun. Sold the Proboat Valvryn, too.

Once again not today but yesterday.

We went to yet another natural park, and I had the precise idea to enjoy Nature through my Manta Ray: thanks to the rapid changes of temperature, the top layer of snow was crusty literally everywhere. Add some plains and a frozen river to the equation, and you get a technically perfect winter wonderland for RC!

So the walk was good, but the RC part of it was unfortunately a complete failure. I whipped out the Manta Ray with the enthusiasm of a kid, to the extent that for once I didn't care about the bypassers' glances, whether I'm usually way too self conscious when driving my cars. After the usual check-ups I started driving, and in that instant the ESC fried with such an awful smell that I could perceive it in the open air with the wind.

Too bad for the ESC but whatever, the real frustration was not being able to enjoy this! Here's a poser picture, just to show what I couldn't enjoy^_^

20210308-180204.jpg

I confess, I've secretly congratulated myself for being able to spend the rest of the day walking around regardless of what happened -though my wife said I was a bit edgy, yeah no kidding :P

that seriously sucks that the ESC gave up the ghost. thats a very nice looking Manta Ray, it looks like there were more than a few edges that needed different spray angles if i can find a Manta Ray, i cant say if i would resist buying one...

i took the slash out today again, i went for an hr?? long walk/ride, i didnt get to the low power cutoff but i did get it down 0.9V to end up at 8.7V just shy of the cutoff. my brother's wife, my mom and her friend were there for a bit as i showed them the truck, the dog was interested in the truck but the stick also got her attention a fair amount. i also got a new body for the slash today, a bit of a impulse purchase but it gives variety and some better?? rollover recovery. the current slash pickup has a few minor scratches on the roof but it nothing serious.

its going to have a nice paint job but that antenna will give me headaches on which holes to drill out first. im thinking of placing the body and 4 holes then line up the antenna hole.

The aerial shouldn't be going that high - the new Slash has a 2.4Ghz radio, which means that as long as you have about 3 inches sticking out of the chassis, that's plenty.

From https://traxxas.com/sites/default/files/58034-1-OM-EN-R04.pdf, page 17:

"SETTING UP THE ANTENNA The receiver antenna and antenna tube must be properly installed before operating your model. Follow these steps to install the antenna and antenna tube: 1. Slide the antenna wire into the antenna tube to its full extent. When fully inserted, the wire should reach to approximately 1/2 inch below the tube cap. Do not leave any slack in the antenna wire. 2. Insert the base of the antenna tube into the antenna post. Take care not to crimp the antenna wire. 3. Slide the crimp nut over the antenna tube and screw it onto the antenna post. 4. Use the supplied tool to tighten the crimp nut on the post just until the antenna tube is securely in place. Do not overtighten or crush the antenna wire against the chassis. Do not bend or kink the antenna wire! Do not shorten the antenna tube. See the sidebar for more information."

so i should then cut the plastic tube then? the tube is still its full 8'' tall. i currently have the HCG tray but the low CG tray is somewhere in the future. i dont know how that may play out  though the lower tray will mean a shorter tube will still suffice?

The only Traxxas that needs it's aerial to protrude from the body is the Bandit. So yes, a shorter tube will definitely suffice - just don't fold/bend/damage the tip of the aerial.

thank you for the reply. so in that case the 3-4inch tall tube should stay inside the shell or protrude a bit? i will need to prepare the new shell and fit it first to the chassis of it has to stick out from the shell a bit.

Eventually actually bought the servos and for the XLS brushed esc! every time I buy the electrical stuff for them both I end up putting them in other things but now done for the better weather and a application for the iconic rc is hopefully going to be done for this year (if we get out of this rubbish we're in)
