I'm not sure they can -I've been thinking the same thing, but I've got a hacksaw if all else fails. Though I'm not sure it's advisable seeing as I'm the one who's going to be driving it. Experience tells me they'd come in handy. But I agree the Clod body could do with shorter bumpers.

Yeah because it's one of those bodies which stand alone looks very impressive and heavy bumpers can hide it the Toyota bruiser is the same the bulky white bumpers hides what is a fantastic body

You say "hide," I say protects... If I'm driving it I'd want those bumpers, but they can easily be removed for shelf queen duty.

Yeah true! Also ugly? The Toyota hilux also looks good when it's a bit battered and rusty like you see when people have them on crawler chassis tamiya could have put a bit more effort in making it look like what's on the front of the original first Toyota hilux/ blazing blazer

I swapped ESCs from my dual rider trike and Midnight pumpkin

Traxxas XL5 from my pumpkin into the trike. TBLE 02 into Pumpkin. Now I can turn the Pumpkin off and on without ever removing the hard shell body.

Did a test of my Agrios last night on 3s with stock silver cans.  I'm using 4 LEDs for each the headlights and taillights, I think it gives a nice menacing look. With respect to Robert5000s TXT-2 build above, I can say that bumpers are definitely a lifesaver when using more power.  Aside from my turn signal indicators being opposite (oops!) actual steering direction, I had a blast.  Plenty of power and seems very robust when bashing over concrete curbs and jumps.

Let's see...

I went to the LHS (local hobby shop) and picked up some Traxxas slash body mounts which I modified to fit the Flying Brick so I could lower the front of the body for better aerodynamics to keep it from flipping over backwards at 55mph. While doing so, I decided that right behind the piece I was drilling a hole through was a good place to put my finger and incidentally drove a spinning drill bit under my fingernail and right through the top of my nail... Yes it hurt a little bit not as much as applying crazy glue to the hole to stop the bleeding... If you ever get the opportunity to apply crazy glue to an open wound, turn that crap down...

Once I got over the immense pain, I finished lowering the body and now when the Blackfoot squats at wide open throttle, the body is completely level instead of pointing at the sky and turning into a sail. Also I made some limiters for the rear shocks, not to lower the truck but to keep the swingarms from overextending during crashed and throwing dogbones which seems to have worked. I haven't made another "official" speed run with it, but I will say the during last test run the truck stayed 4 wheels down at full throttle for the first time... ever...

More to come...

First of all, your photoes should come with a drool warning. I'll have to talk to admin about sorting that.

Secondly, no doubt the bumpers are intefering with the visuals of the truck, but that stems from the Clod body being too small for the TXT2 chassi. It becomes very apparant when looking at @Killajb's Agrios, it's a much nicer fit with the original Agrios shell. And even though my intended use won't have it do much more than 6 kph I'm still thinking the protection might come in handy.

I thought the Agrios body was hideous and planned on purchasing a different body along with more monster truck-ish wheels.  However, after everything came together I realized it all seems to make sense.  Compared to the Bullhead, the TXT-2 seems far more solid and capable of being treated like a monster truck.  I don't have any worries of the metal chassis breaking under large jumps as opposed to the plastic tub chassis on the Bullhead (which I drive a bit more cautiously).  The bumpers factor into that when doing wheelies or landing from a jump causing the front end to bounce upward.

How does it work in your house? Do you need some IIPA to warm up the credit card or just dive right in?

My birthday Sand Scorcher may be put on hold, about to spend a bit (you know what that means) on the race car. New seat, harness etc, conversion from superstrut to normal suspension (cheaper in the long run, a worn lower control arm is going to cost $550 for superstrut!) and looking into uprated oil pumps so we can sustain 8,000rpm for 24 hours. I plan to spend it now so its forgotten by my birthday.

No after the last purchase I thought you may have seen this one too 😄

I had to explain this one, kids birthday are coming up and I am meant to be shelling out for pre ordered cakes and bouncy castle hire 😬

Good thing the SS is supposedly getting another run then, my bday is in July also, would love another SS, great fun on the beach!

The existing front dampers are 90mm, carried over from the purchase of the second hand chassis. Moving to 90mm at the rear would mean I could move to stock damper mounts at the rear (rather than my attempts at making some out of Delrin - I don't really have metal working facilities or experience) and continue with my Rock Beast tyre choice.

Could always help you out with designing some 3D printed ones if you want mate?

Oh yeah your right protecting the body is paramount after spending so much time and effort getting it the way you want it! Like I say it's a chassis which I have no knowledge of? So the agrios has this chassis what is the other vehicle that use it? It looks like a good representation of American monster truck chassis like the bigfoot? Which if you put the likes of the clodbuster body (Chevy pickup) on will look really good so its going to be interesting to see the finished truck👍

Cheers for the comments its very appreciated! The maroon coloured bruiser is one of those clone trucks and I actually used genuine Toyota colour (crimson spark) and MCI decals then all lacquered so you can't feel the decal ridges, the original bruiser underneath is rover metallic grey!

Thank you, that's really kind of you.

Of course, I did what I always do with this truck - I threw more money at it.

I have a pair of SSD Pro-scale 90mm dampers and the stock Axial hoops on their way. @JennyMo your suggestion of the aftermarket shocks was really good, an Injora set (in the UK, allegedly) were £32 but then I found the SSD dampers for £34 from RCBitz (where of course, you can get a 5% discount quite easily). They have a good reputation (like most SSD kit) and the same diameter as the RC4WD Kings and can take springs from the Kings or Axial. If they work out OK, I'll get a matching set for the front at some point and find another home for the Kings.

I'm hoping they arrive by Monday as I have a garage day scheduled.

Had a spare fan laying around and decided to install it on my F103. Its kinda the same shade red as the trackstar motor and esc. Bit over kill but considering high gearing and no esc fan, this will prevent any overheat of the motor.

on fan is powered by the esc fan power supply, and the other big fan from the reciever. Also I have a red led in the rear spoiler. :)

Took my bravery pills and cut the L&L Mondeo body. Overall I'm not impressed with that body. The side panels between the wheel arches are out of shape after cutting (more than 15 mm to the outside compared to the original body) and the moulding lines on the front are too distinctive. I will try to salvage the original body with all the cracks and bends and take the reproduction for running.

i didnt bring any RC kit with me today in the park, had a few too many things to do first. i did go for a walk in the park to monitor the snow melt and where i can run thr TT02. the same old parking area i ran the slash in will do nicely. there are some small cracks but nothing that will cause too much instability. 3.5 traffic lanes or so wide will be enough for the drifter and 100ft long area :).

Thanks @SupraChrgd82, I did like the XD diaphragm dampers I bought but there has been a lot of trial and error in this build (mainly error) and I had clearance issues with the fairly wide bodies of the XDs.

Whilst the King dampers have a leaky reputation, they are nice and narrow for this body and chassis combination.

Is this an injora body? What chassis have you got it on?wheelbase looks great.  I have one and been wondering what to do with it. Quality for the price is impressive.

Not as much what I’ve done, more what I’m planning to do. Hopefully the xtraspeed carbon kit has the holes drilled in all the right places, not to keen to fabricate stuff.

So my other set of 85mm shocks came in today. I rebuilt it, replaced the o-rings and put Tamiya yellow oil. Installed them in the rear. I decided to install the shocks with internal springs in front as the other front shocks have a bad leak too. These sets definitely works better. Smoother and rebound is nicer too.

I've had this set of YR aluminum servo mounts since last year as extra. I decided to use it for here.

Old set of shocks. One rear shock and one front shock are already leaking badly.

I started a little reorganization. I hate unnecessary layers of dust building up over time so am going to keep some rides in boxes. Neat and clean!

That is the Injora (and other Chinese factories) body. Good value for all the detail you get but a bit more expensive now.

The chassis is specifically for this body - it is made by GCM Racing of Canada.

Other routes are available, there are loads of build threads out there on other forums like SBG. I think this one will be a good one to follow ;).

Had a tinker with the new toy.

Firstly I pulled all the alloy hidden body post stuff off. Then I pulled the drift wheels off as two of them have yellowed badly and replaced them with new wheels and slicks i had in my spares topped off with black wheel nuts.

I also stopped at my LHS on the way home and picked up a 380 sport tuned solely for the blingy sticker 😄

I went to fit that, and noticed the rear belt was rubbing on the old 380, after downloading the manual I realised it was built with the tensioner on the top pushing down on the motor, instead of on the bottom, so fixed that and fitted the new can.

I removed the esc, and the Velcro as I plan on giving this a full strip down and rebuild later.

The biggest hurdle is the rear dampers are some aftermarket brand. The original rear ones might have been sold to someone else in a bulk lot deal, so I have to chase them down and see if I can buy them back, otherwise I will have to buy a new set of m-chassis dampers (they are similar to #54000s) and some TRF springs, to get the correct ones back on it. This also brings me to the fact the front and rear shock towers are around the wrong way, I think so let to fit the aforementioned alloy hidden front body posts.

I also gave it a good scrub and wipe down, as it was quite oily/grubby, but it is very nice condition underneath, not a mark on the carbon fibre or alloy parts 😁

Parts are hard to find, but I only need a few things luckily. It will get a proper strip down and rebuild, and cleaned properly when everything I need is in my hands.

I also have a few little hop ups planned, to keep with the theme of my other m-chassis cars. 😊

I was in two minds about this as it is far fetched from the numbered m cars, but now that I have it, I am glad I took the plunge and grabbed it and happy to have included among the others. 😁
