Nicadraus- Does the fan suction cooler air from outside and exhaust hot air out?  Otherwise blowing hot air in confined space without water injection or some kind of cooling agent may be just blowing hot air..

Removed all the decals and turned this pile of crap into..

Something that resembles a Willy (TS28).  Will paint the interior, spare tire, misc parts tomorrow.. then work on the driver figure which is also quite a mess which makes it fun to work on.  Not to offend the original owner, I will not be posting any recognizable "before" pictures of the actual car I bought.

I normally use a stock silver can 540, Hobbywing 1060 on 2s (actually, the silver can from my NovaFox) in this thing. Recently however, I picked up a Super Stock BZ motor.  I replaced the brass bushings with bearings and dropped it in.  I'm using the 3-D printed transmission brace along with the stock transmission gears so I felt confident enough to give it a try.

Wowsers!!!  Had a great run last night.  Under normal (mid to 3/4) acceleration is brisk but not enough to overwhelm the chassis or drivetrain in any way.  Wide open from a standstill spins both rear tires briefly before taking off on asphalt (stock Blackfoot tires on slightly narrower rims have a more conical profile and the hard rubber lends to a bit of wheelspin as opposed to pulling a wheelie).  Top speed is probably what shocked me the most..  it just kept accelerating until it was at pucker-up levels of speed and I started to worry about how to slow it down.  I'm amazed that a 23T motor with such a low gear (stock Blackfoot 10T pinion) could reach such high speeds.  I'm impressed to say the least, but will shy away from any speed runs in this thing to keep the plastic shell from meeting the turf any time soon.

The WO chassis have some holes under and I placed the fan just on top of the round hole which serves as an inlet for cold air to come in. The other holes such as the switch serves as as outlet too.

Realised that the pinion on my JK is probably the wrong pitch.

So I need to go and count some teeth and then get ordering.

Sanded and painted the body interior, spare tire, misc black parts, helmet, and NOS bottle.   What a mess this body.. the previous owner used a mix of paint that did and didn't adhere to the plastic so you can imagine how much sanding was needed.

Some sections of the paint could not even withstand blue painter's tape.  This is why I call this a Rescue Willy Initiative.  :D

I’ve been busy for the last few months, but Wednesday I took the nipper out and the mad bull for some play in the garden. Racing about on wet grass was great fun, lots of sliding, we then built a ramp but unfortunately after the very first landing the car lost drive... So after a quick strip today I found a few things, the loss of drive was caused by the grub screw walking out, phew.. nothing to replace. But interesting that the Red thread lock hadn’t gone off, admittedly I didn’t clean the parts before applying it so could be that, but I thought it was anaerobic curing, so perhaps the thread clearances were just too big.. Second thing I noted was the wear on the rear axle splines (sorry the pic isn’t very good.. no macro feature)... I’ve only run for literally 1 2000mAh battery life.. soft as butter that shaft, ah well, I reapplied some token AW grease cleaned and re torqued the gear and it’s all good to go again.

Ever since I restored a Hotshot 2 I've been wishing for a rere so I could get a new rear shock tower as that was the last part that had a crack in and I couldn't replace. I had used some epoxy on it but still vary of driving her just in case.

Then just this week I had been reading about how you can make your own injection molds using resin and thought I'd have ago at that but then injection molding equipment seems quite expensive and my initial idea of melting ABS in an old pan and pouring it in doesn't seem like it'd work  .... might still have ago at making a mold out of resin though and seeing how that works out though.... but anyhow, so today, and thanks to Qbee on Thingiverse, I can now 3D print the part instead! And it works fabulously. Yes you could use carbon fiber parts, or fashion one out of aluminum, but this looks more 'correct' to me.

Part printed. Fitting tomorrow with a test drive to see how it holds up!

Dang, nice job Cynan.

I was able to resurface the roll cage corners enough that it can be reused so I was happy about that;  filed and glued Willy's arms back onto his torso.

Never mind the Cheeto's suit, that is how it came in that color.  I removed all the loose paint so it looks like crap.   Will paint him soon.

Thanks @Willy iine. How good does that Tamiya Cement work? Better than super glue or epoxy for instance?

Yes, for these hard plastic pieces this works the best from various products I have tried in the past.  It basically melts the plastic and fuses the pieces together.  It takes a while to fully cure (quick to set), but once it does the pieces become one.

It does help to sand/file the mating surfaces before applying the cement for full strength.

Dug my nicer body out of storage for my super Blackfoot, wanted it to look a lil better while sitting on the shelf. The race body has seen better days. Also got my new motor in my dump truck.

Been messing around with the 6wd clodbuster..

Legend says that the clodbuster is so tough, it doesn't climb ramps, it actually pushes the world down.

Did a bit of wiring/soldering on a boat kit I’ve had for about 4 years which has been languishing in a box unloved.

It’s a brushless outrunner powered by a 2s lipo.

it’s a Fairey Huntsman 31 my favourite boat of all time. The catch is the size!!!

I started the day getting one of my real hobby cars ready for her oil change tomorrow and first drive of the season.  I didn't think too much of it at the time, but my garage was 40F and that lead to my painting skills to take a while to fire up after returning to my RC shop.  Anyway got the fundamental facial features painted, belt, shoes and gloves.  Buckle, suit, and helmet are obviously not done yet..

IMG_Apr22021at120945PM.thumb.jpg.4209c13d29b3f90873139946021a767b.jpg

And the rear arch, hood latches..

Jerrycan belt and buckle, winch rope, NOS bottle nozzle, radio...and the wiper blade not pictured..

Will work on finishing Willy and maybe do the tails and blinkers later today.

I've restored my nearly unused Grasshopper.

I installed O Rings and a Flysky receiver.

I don't know what motor that is, but i think it's my fastest RC Car, faster than my top Force with that dyna Run Motor. I think it's a Carson Cup machine.

First time spraying a body outside - the lunchbox - and went to fast. Noticed some drips, so stopped and will pick up tomorrow and sand them away and then go slow as I should have done today.

Printed a second, finer resolution, version of the hotshot 2 rear shock tower. Ran out of black though so will have to order more... still this shows the part up more easily for photos :D and will do for a few test runs. So far so good!
