Technically this was yesterday, but I finally managed to get the bulk of a Tamiya Fire Dragon Full Strip and Rebuild completed...

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...1&sid=28719

the Lag time has been waiting for parts, and saving up a few pennies here and there to fund the project. I started off with a basket case off eBay, thinking it would be a way of getting a cheap Runner... I grossly underestimated how many parts were either broken or missing... Individually the parts were not that expensive, but put them into a big pile and it all adds up somehow....

Anyway 6 and a half hours to rebuild the chassis, gearboxes [with new CERA GREASE B) ] and its all nice, nice, nice.

Opted for non Tamiya wheels, as i want to run this once complete, and have learned to dislike odd sized Tamiya Wheels like those found on the Thundershot Series... <_< Bah! I saw the sticky slicks by Ansmann Racing and thought they looked interesting :P .

Just need to source a few bits for the Chassis Cover and Driver now, and some radio gear and its all good to go blasting about.

Nice job - the Fire Dragoin i bought 2 weeks ago, is back on eBay as parts lots - it arrived with beyond recovery body, broken chassis tub and yet another set of crack, perished and worn out tyres !

Got a set of those wheels on a Manta Ray and they're pretty good, i have them coupled to Ansmann buggy spike tyres.

Ran the ta02 BMW and the m02 Alfa, forgot to charge the camera batteries so no pictures <_<

I have a Fire Dragon NIB bodyshell that I have absolutely no interest in, I don't know why I bought it! (got it a few years ago with some other stuff). It's in the original beige Tamiya box I think. It's about time I got rid of it, it's taking up too much space. I'm open to offers LOL.

I'm still doing my 2nd (runner) 1983 style Frog (got a joblot of spare original vintage NIP rear dampers from etamiya of all places!), I'm filing the body to the cut line (hate using scissors and getting fractures in the PolyCarbonate). Going to be painting with PC brush paints again, worked great last time.

Got my Keda C40 brushless motor in my Scorcher 2010 gearcase and Turnigy 35A Car ESC and Storm 2100mAh LiFe battery for the radio box, all works great, just waiting for 5mm heatshrink tube to arrive as I'm putting a HobbyKing Deans XT plug onto my ESC wires (no way am I staying with the Tamiya connector on it).

Cheers,

Alistair G.

This afternoon i managed to get all the clean, shiney TA01 parts out of their cardboard box and reassemble them into a rolling chassis. Juts got to order a cheap body(ies) from HK and a set of drift tyres.

sold a lot of stuff on the bay... More money in the kitty for the new project <_<

mixed bag on the selling front, but i bought 8 black cva shocks and springs for £2.50 which can't be too bad

Was a bit naughty and put my half finished body on my Tundra and took it out for a spin. Was going great til I flipped it and it landed on the roof in a load of twigs. Some minor scratches, but I can buff them out before finishing off the paint... Patience is a virtue...apparently.

In no particular order I made and installed the scorcher front guard and painted the body. I added a bit of chrome to it and setup a new 2.4 radio set in it. Painted and installed the new tailgate for the pumpkin. Sorted out the radio conflicts with the 956s. Put a new ESC in the F what and drove it around a while, it's never been run and it did great. Replaced the tires on the astute and thrashed it around, I found a hidden tree stump and hit a large rock but didn't hurt anything. I put a new 2.4 radio set in the pumpkin and drove it a bit. I sorted all the spare part and put them away and charged all the cars. I also set up a dry erase board to keep track of what's in what and if any of them need attention or parts. Most of this was sorting out radios, I have 2 sets that were lost in the group that are now found. This was all in the last 24 hours. Now I'm eyeing the TT and the hotshot while I still have daylight.

Painted and fitted a replacement winch for one of my WW2's. The original got broken when me and my daughter were pratting about indoors with the WW2 and VW Type 2 - oops!

Just about finished painting the driver for the VW, should hopefully finish the whole thing tomorrow.

I finished jacking up my F-150 (TA-02T) truck with Top Force arms and driveshafts yesterday. Last night fitted it with a CR Tuned motor and 19t steel pinion, radio gear and set up and now it's ready to drive later today. Then I finished my Holiday Buggy 2010 body completely with decals and driver so it is ready to fit as soon as the chassis is built (I always do the body first  )

Started the HB2010 build including turnbuckles, some shimming and using hardly any of the kit hardware. When finished it will be more like a brushless Sand Viper with a Holiday Buggy body. I'm enjoying the HB2010 already, what a great little buggy.

This evening i cut the body and wing for my Kyosho Gallop MkII - easy you might think, but half the cut lines weren't on the ***** shell, which made it an interesting task to say the least

Yet another fault with ***** shells. My Gallop MK2 ***** shell has small bubbles / rough texture in it all over, due to not drying the Lexan properly before forming it. Never seen that in any Tamiya or Kyosho body. The cut line on my Gallop MK2 ***** shell is missing at the front and rear, and there's no cut line on the wing either.

Cheers,

Those guys are very "hit or miss". Got a King Cab body from them complete with overspray film, but when I complained about a second one not having it, I was told that they don't do overspray films?

I noticed the cut line issue with the 956s too. Good and bad, the body was so thick it was hard to mask, see the mold lines. The overspray film is put on before they get it as raw stock and explains some of the hit and miss.

What I did today was run the M05, mostly forward but the tires are too good. Instead of sliding the rear it grips and rolls. It does come all the way over and it's easy to get up on 2 wheels. Picked up the case and displayed the BT. Oh and the rear shocks showed up for the M05 and were installed. I need to wash off the Hotshot, it's waterproof and tested, talk about a water dog. Ice, snow, water and mud and brings bits of it all back with pieces of lawn stuck everywhere. Fixed the set screw for the front arm on the bug with a helicoil. I was thinking of getting a boat but I'll just get a better battery for the Hotshot.

No markings at all for the front 'number plate' that is actually cut from the rear of the mould, easy to sort this one though using the relevant sticker from the decal sheet. It's a very deep and narrow shell so I suspect it's very awkward to achieve good quality and retain cut lines. My other ***** shells (egress, vanquish, manta ray) and undercowls and wings have all been pretty good. In comparison I've only bought one kamtec lexan shell and that's far from perfect, and varies in thickness a lot!.

The same faced with my Avante 2001, Egress & vanquish bodies, very faint lining ..my eyes popped out loooooool

i wrote to them, and they will do sharp lining for their bodies :)..

I think with the new Bodies version, the lines are sharp and clear

Wat i faced also, is the Antenna hole is not accurate . Hope they fix this soon

thanks
