@Ministrone That looks real good.   I like that clean aluminum damper/coilover look.   I also noticed you have a front spoiler above the front towers.   Is that a custom piece you made?  Very interesting.  I image it keeps the car more level when doing fast/long jumps.

The body is a copy of ones made by JG Dart in the 1980s. The wings come with the body set.

That's cool.  Hummm..  I use to own the original HotShot back in the 80's (my best friend's dad sold it to me for like 1/2 the price with barely any run time on the car.. like new), but was probably too pre-occupied to notice the JG Dart name.

I find that they help shooting the truck far up when jumping, while at the same time still somehow doing their job. I thought about trying on some real shocks just to see how differently the truck would behave, but never really went through with the idea and may never get to do that.

I agree. The truck is a great jumper. Its the perfect balance between more complete absorption (like a re-re Blackfoot with its oil shocks) and total sporadic bounciness (like a stock Clod Buster). Its big and solid and truck-like, but still "chuck-able" in turns and not overly ponderous nor top heavy. I've run them with full oil shocks and they handle surprisingly very well, but its far more fun with the pogo-sticks. I admit to running some stealthy black Traxxas oil dampers (no springs) in the rear only in those pics (in addition to the chrome pogos) which keeps some of the rear squat in check and softens some of those high jumps without killing the character of the truck.

Prepped the Super Hotshot body ready for paint and assembled the wheels and tires.

I started (and almost finished?) the Blitzer Beetle today. First 2WD buggy I build funny enough, not counting the Scorcher. Even with tapping and SS hex screws (where I could, there are several stepped screws I couldn't replace), I've only spent 4 hours getting this far. Nice build though.

I had a brushless esc/motor set rated at 5800kv, and I didn't know what to do with it, so I dropped it in lol.

Geez @DeadMeat666, my SB feels like it’s on its limits of drivability on 4000kv!!

As mentioned previously, the stock tyres will be toasted for sure in no time, so definitely Sandpaws + Sand = 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Ordered 3 x Black Can "Sport Tuned" motors from Aliexpress (Knowing full well what they truly are) and 2 x 21T Surpass Brushed motors.

Ordered 3 x HW Quicrun 1060's and 2 x generic 1060's

So, thats 5 motors and 5 ESC's on the way, will now need some RX's for my Spektrum DX3R

i found some useful items that would usually go into the trash at work. it should make a few rc bumpers. the pieces are 2 inches thick so i can make as much as id like. i also built the robot's torso, arms and weapon last night after procrastinating for many months. i think i did the wrong thing in getting his weapon done as he is now threatening my new hobby... i only recently got the lunch box done and the tires might get slashed already... its name Deathscythe is very forbidding.

I finally finished fitting the Hi-cap dampers onto my Hotshot. I decided to keep the front monoshock, mostly for the looks but fitted with a much softer spring from a DT02 friction shock. The front is still quite soft but the monoshock allows for easy preload adjustment. I’ve not had chance to road test it yet but I love the look.

I have somehow overlooked this buggy awesomeness so please forgive me, I'm about to start stalking your posts.

Today I used a whole can of PS-2!

Mrs BC's PCR test was negative so she took el Kid away for a family visit yesterday. So aside from my house DIY tasks, I have trimmed a shell, masked it and put on the first body coat. I've mocked up the chassis for it but realised that it needs a full strip down, clean and rebuild before it can run so for now it is a 'proof of concept'.

I have a new favourite tool -

DSC_1611.jpg

I bough this Rolson mini ratchet screwdriver and some Vessel JIS bits a while ago but wasn't happy with the bits. I now have a proper Tamiya driver, large hex socket and some MIP hex drivers. I am now a very happy camper.

I built the VQS hi caps using the longest bottom ball ends I could find and bought the brackets from the Super Hotshot. The brackets were surprisingly tricky to find for such a recent re re kit, but I suppose everything is at the moment.

That's cool.  When I went to Amazon to buy more 215's for my Spektrum it told me I bought it 18 times or something and 15 times or so for the 1060.

Got some time off, so went hobby shopping. Went to my local, talked smack for a couple of hours, put the Renault R5 turbo on Layby, admired the influx of new rerelease buggies, mass of TT02s and landfreeder track thing and then left to go to the next town over as I knew the owner had a stock of Jconcept Renegades, but also chatted about other RC stuff, and found out he had some m -chassis goodies.

Unfortunately after my families trek north last weekend funds are a little low, but the other hobby shop has some more stuff I'm interested in, so may hopefully buy some more stuff next week 😎

I'm tempted by the aluminium pulleys. The plastic ones didn't feel great. What dampers are you going to use?

Also fitted all the Jconcepts rims and tyres and removed the old ESP 1" extensions (not needed with the Tributes).

I've gone for 54541 - as I got them for a fantastic price and they are the right length for the Long Damper spec kit882088801_IMG_20210728_1053072.thumb.jpg.aba769b4b53b228862d9762fc84ab2ea.jpg

Good choice, they are basically the same as the 53926 DF03 shocks except colour. I used the 53926 on my LD build

54541's are shorter than the 53926's. 54541 and 54670 are the same but different colours. 54541 are marked up as for cc01 and 54670 for gf01.
