Got my petrol lawnmower running, which I’m really pleased about and stuck my Lunchbox on eBay.

Photos are a bit dark as it was over cast so I’ll retake these when it brightens up and I couldn’t be bothered to swap out the black sports tuned, so that’s a decent hop up but we are all good otherwise 👏

I’ll see how we go with this and then look to list the FF03 next as it close to hand at the front of the storage unit.

Well, mounted today, but was really yesterday

First run on the beach with 2 of the Lunchboxs. The video looks lighter than what it was yesterday evening when we ran. Next time will go even later :-D!
One of the light bucket decided to detach itself from the body while bashing on some ondulated side of the beach. Fixed that later on with gaffer, and it should work much better. Now, to be honest, I'm not sure I'll be able to resist to buy a big brushless combo to run on the beach with the Lunchbox, as with this wide space to run, the 540 silver can looks like heavily undersized :-D

i am sure i herd in the week that petrol lawnmowers won't run on the new e10 stuff so why not convert it to nitro fuel

Been cleaning down this eBay chassis this weekend. A Kyosho Raider ready for a rebuild as a modernised classic! Been scrubbing everything and identifying missing components this weekend. I have a second more complete chassis for next weekend. There is something satisfying about cleaning up a vintage car which is very therapeutic!

It's not the cleanest solder job, but looks like you got good coverage.

I looked at other images of this connector and it's basically a banana plug with a fancy housing.  So I would pre-tin the wires, slide the pre-tinned wire into the contact opening, and heat the contact (not the wire) to melt the solder inside without additional solder unless necessary.

Yeah I did add extra solder to fill the can properly but the heat got to the insulation and cans. 14AWG should provide better results as I can pre tin the wires and still insert them. I wasnt sure if I should've tinned the can also but if I can get away without super heating the can before the solder is sucked in to fill the can then im happy.

Got my Molex crimper in today so I can complete the task now. 14AWG wire was not possible to buy this weekend due to family get together and business hours... I do have some 14awg wires but not much in stock for the task.

Decided to use Tamiya's 3mm masking tape for curves since I had a heck of a time freehand painting Willy's Wheeler (Honda City) window trims last time.. made the window trim painting a breeze!

Also used on the kidneys or whatever these recessed areas are called..

I would not worry about pre-tinning the contacts (barrels), just the wires should be sufficient.  And it should turn out very clean once finished.

I usually buy my 14 gauge on Amazon.   They sell a red/black jacket combo in 3ft lengths and for me that works well.

thanks, how do you go about reasoning price VS wire length? amazon is asking around $30 for 5ft lengths while i can locally buy 2 25ft rolls of 14AWG wire for a few bucks less? $30 got me 50ft of 12 AWG  and delivery was instant/in person. i could try a hardware store that could sell it by the meter and see if its  cheaper that way.

The wires I buy on Amazon are going at $5.98 for 3ft (includes both red and black).. in other words, free with Amazon points.

amazon isnt showing any results for that price point, $30 minimum and ebay isnt any better. prices are better on ebay but the shipping is a price killer. gonna try the home hardware stores before i try autoparts store 2x 25feet. so far best amazon price for flexible wire 5ft is $27 free shipping.

Try searching " BNTECHGO. 14 gauge silicon wire 3ft red and 3ft black flexible 14 awg stranded copper wire" on Amazon.

I suppose if you can use up all 25 or 50ft of wire that's great, but the only time I consume more than a foot of wire is when I am making those hump back battery packs for my M38's and 5844 Pajero..

BNTECHGO is going for $27 for that set. gonna try the home depot hardware store, they can cut wires in the multiples of 1m and it under $1 for a meter. it may not be as flexible but it should do if they sell by the meter.

Busy RC day today. Started the day bidding on more f1 cars I have no need for, didn’t win any of them, not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Then started cleaning up some stuff and making a pile of things to put on the pay it forward thread, nothing exciting yet but someone might need/have a use for.

Changed my dads clod over to modern electronics, need to lengthen some wires and clean it up a bit, might put stronger servos in there too.

Then I took my f104 out for a speed run, tires kept coming unglued, grip was horrible, couldn’t keep it straight and I think it doesn’t brake, or it doesn’t have enough grip to brake. Gonna review the vids and hopefully post it on the speed thread, can’t remember if I spun out on the fast runs or not. I’ll try to fix it all tomorrow and give it another go for a better speed.

and here’s pictures of the stuff because why not

Well, we got the right front brakes assembled on the 200 today, then discovered that the dealer sold me 2 right side calipers vs one of each🤦🏻
So the right side has all the good stuff on it while the left still has all the old and in the case of the pads and rotors, very well used parts still on it.

then here’s the size differences between stock and the big brake parts, the pads, rotors, and tires are all replacement with the stock size pads and rotors being from a NAPA and the tires being slightly upsized BFG Comp 2 All Season tires and then the calipers, brackets and hoses all being what the car left Chrysler’s Sterling Heights, MI factory with in January 2012. The parts going on are R1 Concepts pads and rotors, matching what we put in the back yesterday, the dealership we’ve bought our last few cars from supplied the calipers, hoses, and most of the hardware, the brackets were sourced from the EU through a 3rd party that has one of it’s Dodge Avenger Sedan siblings, and then the anti-rattle/wear clips and copper washers for the banjo fittings were bought from local parts houses since I was a dummy and forgot to get those as I was collecting the other parts.

here’s how the big brakes look in comparison to the stock sized parts behind the factory 18” wheels.

as of right now, the car is just going to be hanging around like this until we can get the other caliper.

Luckily, I’m still working from home, so if anything, I can borrow Dad’s minivan as needed as we are still under the same roof!
