i found some things is was looking for for quite some time: AA batteries. not the most exciting but im super excited as they are Rayovak batteries. i have a fairly good history with these batteries in the past but didnt find then in the last 5yrs locally. i had some AAA Rayovacs that i drained and put aside, i tried them again months later on and they lasted again as long as a new battery :) . got 16 AA rayovacs now and i just need to use up the current energizer batteries.

Has anyone else done this on their Beetle? Just looking for tips on painting the lenses.🙏😁

Is that an aftermarket part?  It looks 1000 times better than plain white plastic.  Where could I get those lenses?

The lenses come on the Scorcher body clear tree, I believe the original MK1’s used them but the re-re’s have solid back lights.

The lenses also came on my Black Edition Monster Beetle kit but were smoked instead of clear.

Tasty motors, did you acquire the Acto-Power recently? I'm looking for one at anything other than eBay prices.

I think I got it about 12 months ago in an already used state. Since then it's been sitting waiting for something to go into. It was sourced from Japan as I have family there which sure helps with some of these sought after items but even the Japanese are starting to pay handsomely for certain motors.

Its called French Blue. Krylon makes it.

I could only find Rustoleum version of French Blue.  Are they flexible enough? Wouldn't they chip off?

Went to the "local" (100 km) hobby shop. Was there for the first time in about 15 years. That was great, all the parts and kits and accessories. It could have spend a fortune, but luckily I am very rational.

Started pulling out all my spare parts and unfinished (and finished) projects to try and thin things out a little.

I have no idea how I ended up with so many multiples of the same thing. I have no idea how I ended up with so many wheels and tyres. I admit I had a problem, I have a problem now trying to sort it all. Quite good fun looking through boxes though:)

So today came up short even though I worked hard this week going through impossible discussion meetings for work without crashing and yet the weather gods thought it'd be funny to rain on my 1:1 weekend drive day..

For those days I pull out my RC ..  so, here is what I am working on today..

More to come..

Update.. Took a while to cut, but the opening is complete, waiting for the black rails to dry and will mount the sunroof cover (the piece I just cut out) onto the roof..

That is very brave. I don't think I would have the courage to cut that nice shell.

Soon will be time to move to next project :)

Nice.   What are you planning on doing next?

After I do the oil change on my generator after it's weekly exercise in about 15 min,  I think I'm going to start building the other GF01TR this afternoon.

Well...

I have a few projects ready to start, but almost none which can go until its end:

- Nichimo Spirit FF will require full unbuilt, and some 3D design for a new chassis and a new bumper (not even to the point where I can think about ordering a body shell to TBG)

- Hunters & Galaxy : The Galaxy needs unbuilt, cleaning and rebuilt. And among the three hunter, I would be able to rebuild the chassis now, but still missing bodyshells (I have one in not perfect state but can make it, but the two others will be more difficult).

- Hotshot : what I intend to do will require to build it up to a certain point where I will take measures for the next part of the project (for which I will be missing parts - that's the reason it was not plan for a start now but later).

I think I will go thru the Hunter and Galaxy stuff, at least sorting the parts, and build what I can build. That should free some space to attack the Nichimo Spirit FF project (I'm missing a few empty boxes to be able to start it right away)...

So round2 for today since I think I’m done with the orange GF01..

This is the other GF01TR for my other VW Beetle Billy who got his chassis stolen..by the other comical SandScorcher Beetle.. yes, hard to keep track for me too..

Update.. passed bench test, will complete tomorrow.   Running bearings, 1060, and high torque servo saver, but going to try the friction dampers first before the oil dampers I bought for it to compare side by side with my other GF01TR with oil dampers.

I have a feeling oil dampers are overrated on the WR02 and GF01/GF01TR .. my City Turbo has friction dampers and handles very well.
