Over the last week or so (yes, slow progress as not much time for RC builds currently), i've managed to progress my avante 2001 build..

  • Chassis now complete thanks to the parts i received from Tamiya Era
  • Body parts all cut out
  • I printed some decals at the correct size to use as stencils - these were applied on the outside and then 'decals' painted on the inside. Just need to finish masking these areas off before hitting the final body colour.

Spent 5 hours beneath my car replacing the front/down pipe and the oil pan gasket, the former which involved bolt-out sockets and cutting nuts off with my angle grinder and the latter which involved removing the shift cable cover and transmission splash plate and the crossbar. The gasket was tedious but I had fun doing both and now my car is smooth and stealthy quiet and no more leaks.

I've procrastinated on this one since October! That gorilla is off my back now and I feel oh so good.

I also installed the swaybar kit I got for my DB01. Works great so far, really fixes the tremendous sway/body roll I was having with the TRF dampers, but I will need to test the stabilizer more to be sure.

Unpacked my new built TRF501X WE (thanks Dennis) and ordered some additional parts for it. Trying to make a Satoshi Maezumi replica :)

Today I took my DT02 for a beach bash to try out the newly fitted HPI Sandthrowers. Wasn't sure of my rim selection, so I hadn't glued them. Minor mistake...

Well despite very little time for RC of late, the Avante 2K1 body is now painted and installed - pretty happy with the result give the risks i took (permanent marker pen, and Tamiya paint pens as well as Tamiya PS spray). Some electrics to tidy and then its photo time :D

Also managed to get my new mini eRevo shell painted and decalled last night - ordered some Pro-line Road Rage tyres today so hopefully that will be sorted by the weekend too :D :D

Got to start thinking about the next project. from these three waiting in the RC shed

  1. DB-01 Durga - strip, clean, rebuild and respray
  2. Monster Beetle - already stripped and cleaned, needs a shell repair, or I'll use a spare Kamtec lexan shell
  3. NDF-01 - stripped and cleaned, needs rebuild and electric conversion.

Had some luck last time so I got from the postman:

- used Bear Hawk

- MINT Bush Devil + box + manual + decals + rollcage (NIP) + radio

Finished the rebuild from my mint Dyna Storm and then started stripping down the Bear Hawk and the Bush Devil.

Bear Hawk will get a rebuild with other dampers, lightweight rims, beerings and so on. Looking for some CVA-dampers for it by the way and a battery holder.

The Bush Devil will be rebuilt as well with beerings, dampers and electronics.

Have in mind to build them like on the pics from the yearbook.

Been restoring an Axial Wraith for the last few weeks so today I fancied a nice n easy paint job with my M03 Mini. All prepped and ready for a simple all over red paint a-la The Italian Job.

That's another job ticked off the list!

I've been struck with enthusiasm. I've primed and painted the white bits on my Marui Landcruiser body and washed my ***** Big Brute shell out, ready for it's Ivan Stewart inspired paint.

I rebuilt my Buggy Champ just under 24 hours ago... does that count?

New gears arrived today, so I swapped out the 15T/70T combination for the 20T/65T, and also managed to salvage the bearings from the gearbox; two were seized solid on the same gear, leading me to wonder how my car even worked at all!

I also purchased new shocks for the Champ; read a thread on here about the GB-01 Aeration Dampers, so I am giving them a try. Any other advice would be appreciated.

went to the track today , it was useless , as some one parked a semi with a trailer across it . so me and the missus hit the backup location. i took my short wheel based cars , the m02 and ta04ss and she the TT01e.

Installed the electrics in the A2K1 project (built from spares), and after several thunderstorms manged to get some (not brilliant ) photos..

Bought an Avante Black Special!

It was this or a guitar, having saved enough money, and while a guitar was the logical choice, my heart is radio-controlled... Very excited to begin building, and may consider a build thread, though there seem to be enough of those for this model.

Discovered (happily) that you can mount a DF03ra Evo X body through the marked holes on a TA01 if you happen to have spare TA03 bent rear mounts.

Fitted the 108mm Ansmann wheel & tyre to my latest CC01 bargain and I'm liking the slightly over sized look.

Trimmed the tub wheel arches a little as well as the lower swing arms and C-hub. With a 5mm spacer added to the shock mounts the wheels don't catch the chassis.
