MCI decals…

That looks so much better with the decals, breaks up the red a bit. 👍 Some cockpit window outline detail in black and a driver and your sorted 😉🙂

Assembled the rest of the CC02 last night.  Had to use plastic bushes since the bearings were MIA.  Today they arrived!  I'll pull apart the axles switch the bushes out and reassemble them again tonight.  Not a big problem but I do need to remove a couple of e-clips which are never fun.

Now that it's more or less complete (servo and other electrics still need to go in) I quite like it.  Much nicer than a CC01, as it should be after this many years, and reminds me a little of the CR01 although a much less intensive build.  I believe 4WS should be possible with a second kit scavenged for parts although I'm not quite game enough to try that yet.  Bearings, metal hexes, and a steel pinion are all I've changed.  Didn't have to glue anything like the manual suggests.  I'd like a crawler motor and ESC in there but I'll run it as is for now.

Stock plastic steering link feels a bit bendy for my liking.  The receiver box needs to be attached with tape when a couple of screws would've been better.  I hope the stock driveshafts hold up as I don't think I've seen replacement steel ones that fit the short wheelbase.  Tyres are still garbage for anything requiring grip of course.  Other than that I think it's quite a good little truck.  I'll see how bad the widely acknowledged bumpsteer problem is then decide if I need to find a solution.

I'm going to be running a different body to the Unimog and it's one I haven't seen on this chassis yet.  I'll get it mounted this weekend and maybe even paint it if I can.

Looking good. I started mine today. Mine is a Unimog but I too have an alternative body in mind, a Ford Bronco.

Hey, thanks!   :D

The RadioShack chassis that came with that F100 body is still in my garage.. I completely forgot about it until this morning when I decided to install a large power strip on my steel cabinet and saw it still sitting on my mobile cart.  Not sure what to do with it.  I took a quick look at it, but it's a toy grade RC so probably will end up getting recycled..

Ha, mine too. The Intruder 4x4 radio shack was great with hobby grade gear, this looks a little lower quality. I've opened up the gearbox, and the gears are small. That being said, some parts might make spares for an actual QD, as they are so similar (For example the front bumper is not identical, but will fit a QD - I'd say around 50% of QDs have a broken front bumper, so it may be useful, particularly as the price of QDs goes up and up. Both my QD and GF01 use the RS front bumper).

Alternatively I'm going to stick a Lego base plate on it, and get it to my nephew as a Lego Truck.

I am definitely considering getting a Bronco body too.  I previously had one on a CC01 and CR01 so I should probably branch out and get a Land Cruiser instead this time.  Need to complete my Unimog first of course.

I kinda wish they woulda went all out with aluminum parts on this like the old days, yes it would have been twice the price, but I'd have paid it.

I agree. Would have been a real showpiece. Im going to shelf this one. Never had one back in the day.

Has to wait for the metal drive cups for the TA-05v2.  Surprised they are plastic from the factory when the dog bones were metal.  Progress was slow as this is my first ball diff.  I also forgot to include the belt looped into the assembly. Friday 1:30am and gotta sleep….😴

Been a busy morning with work.. but managed to swap a servo saver to a black one instead of the white one (Tamiya’s high torque servo saver) I had on the car.  This is on my latest F100.

The Dumbo ears are the fender liners for the front.  It doesn’t look so bad if you keep your eyes closed.   oh wait..

The hard felt stock I had was not as stiff like the prior lots so ended up making the fender liners out of styrene and painting them black yesterday.

Installed the bearing kit into the CC02 axles and put the electrics in.  Still need to tidy the wires but it's almost ready to run.  Servo is in the vertical mount position.  I test fitted the servo, a Savox SC-0251MG, in the horizontal position and while you could argue it fits, it's really tight and I wouldn't recommend it.  Maybe 5mm clearance from the motor.

Got the body fitted today as well.  I'm using my spare CR01 Rock Socker body.  Need to think of a new name for it since it's a trail truck not a rock crawler. Trail Nailer?

The front lines up with the stock body post dimples quite well but the rear is about 10mm out from the center of the wheelwell.  It's built as a 242mm S wheelbase so a switch to the 252mm M wheelbase would be perfect.  I might just trim the body a bit to save having to change wheelbase when switching between my planned Unimog and Bronco bodies.

I was going to leave a lexan bumper under the grille but it looks a bit clunky with the CC02 plastic bumper.  I could not run the plastic bumper as it attaches to a bumper mount with three screws that are easy to reach.

Lots of clearance for the tyres even at full articulation with this body.  It looks a bit excessive in the photos but it's not so bad in person.

I've got a couple of ideas for the paint scheme but I'm not certain what I'll do.

@JeffSpicoli This is the Radioshack Street Comber (hardshell) body posted in the photos only thread.   It’s a clone of the QD Pumpkin..  I mounted it on a GF01.

Terrible condition for RC Cars today, wet heavy snow & water pools, but i could not resist to test 2s alarm setup on my daughters C.Avante, so daughter & me went out for a Spin

I can see volt m while my daughter is driving, it stayed at 4v (each cell ofc) for a long time and for that reason works do much better in any 4wd setup as you get that extra stable punch Nimh do not have:

Find it to be a perfect RC car for Her:

But as mentioned terrible condition, the Slapps as we say in Norway sticks to the car and messes up the speed & steering :( :

Been a mixed few days. With a pregnant wife a new Covid outbreak is really the last thing we wanted. We are both double jabbed (and boosted) but we don't really want to go out mix much (to give us a chance to have Christmas with family as much as anything), with means I've cancelled on a bunch of friends or them on me. Usually this social distancing would mean lots of long walks, but at 6 months pregnant she can't really walk that far, so we are rather stuck inside.

However, I did manage to get a little RC action.

Firstly the amazing @toyolien's wheelie bar came in. I added that to the GF01 F100 (in an alternative @Willy iine's creation!)

I then played around with a 2000 mAh Li-ion battery for the MF01x stadium truck - success. The Small Li-ion has the punch of the larger Sub C NiMh pack with the size of the AA pack. The capacity isn't huge, but I may drop down to a silver can or ever 30T motor to balance it out. The Li-Ion is so much smaller and importantly lighter, so I've got less mass to move around, meaning a higher turn motor may work.

The battery holders are the ones from the kit, rotated 90 degrees and bolted in . I need to work on a way to attach them with body pins somehow (or at least one side) but as proof of concept, it's great. It does look a lot better this way, and the car weighs much less.

@Nikko85 I love the look of your F-100, nice chrome wheels and the perfect amount of decals.

Agreed, nice job on the green one, @Nikko85!

Hope things don't get too crazy before all said and done with your wife's pregnancy. I know things can get pretty crazy near the delivery date even on a normal day.    GL!!!

So for me I was supposed to take it easy today just relaxing in my pretend RC shop and maybe making a paint brush stand (something easy) while relaxing listening to music, but once I saw this I was like.. :wacko::blink:  ..oh craps, cracks from two different shrink rates..  I waited 2-3 days after painting the white to paint the blue on top, but I guess it still wasn't enough.  Luckily this is only on the left fender.

The photo's color is off as I increase intensity to show the cracks in more detail.

IMG_Dec182021at122054PM.jpg.03491c78e8b3408462b1aab975e7c1e9.jpg

Micromesh polish revealed it was pretty deep..

IMG_Dec182021at122108PM.jpg.2873335e2766db3985ed90f64c32a9ad.jpg

Sanded down to the white and resprayed.. back to deep crack-free blue. :D

And since I was already not relaxing, decided to go outside and wash my daily driver as it was 36F and sunny this afternoon.. and now doing laundry.
