I decided to clean up the CVA’s on the GF01-SWB as they were leaking pretty badly with the red o-rings and GreenSlime.  If they continue leaking I will swap the o-rings with TRF x-rings.

Ordered a few packages of x-rings and some other misc stuff for painting to make the freight a bit more reasonable.

Also made rear quarter panel arch liners to hide the see-through light between the body and chassis.

Going to drive the car in a little bit. :D

I did not get to the XR311 today.. too many honey-do’s this afternoon.  Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

@Frankster Nice follow up!  I'm really glad you did not rush it and prematurely peeled back the masking.  Well done, GL with the decal install.  If you like, mist some distilled water on the polycarbonate and your fingers when you install.  This way you can peel back the decal to re-aim if you need to without damaging the decal (adhesive strength drops about 50% while wet, and 100% when fully dry).  While your fingers are wet, no finger print transfers to the adhesive side.. very important while handling clear decals.   I use a silicone squeegee.

For me, finally got all my wife's work gear out of my new music room.. I noticed my rack mount BT player is not working properly so decided to upgrade to a new 1U rack mount Tascam multi-media player (Tascam CD-400U).  :D  It quickly reminded me my music gear digs into my wallet.. not as bad as my 1:1 car stuff, but ouch.

At least not as expensive as my M38's.

..

Thanks @Willy iine. Will give the wet decal application a try.

Tried my hand at dyeing some wheels for the first time. Went pretty smooth, a little bit darker than than the body, but close enough I reckon.

I’ve just purchased a rear cage for the Sand Scorcher, trying to pretend it is going to cost less that it really will by spreading the parts orders over a series of purchases 😂

Anyhow the old 540 fired up last night, so I’m going to try my hand at soldering today 😳

It's not so much the driving, it's whether step 2 of the instructions, installing the servo with 2 screws taking half an hour, is a good spectator sport. It certainly asks commitment of the spectator, but whether he is rewarded for that remains to be seen. A little like the current experience of the English test cricket fan.

Try being an Englishman living in Australia ;) I’ve never had my neighbours so keen to stop and chat to me 🤣

Ok 1st real attempt at soldering kinda went ok.

Having read a little last night about it my 30W iron doesn’t have the power to do the job, but it’s what I’ve got so I gave it a go 👍

If you file the tip of the soldering iron so that you have a shorter and larger heating tip surface, 30W should work.. but you are right, probably want 50W or more.  :D

Also at 30W, best to use it in a warmish-hot room with little to no draft.  It does make a difference.  GL!!

I have not done any work on my DT-03 charity build. They have come back and approved me using their colours so that is great for when the rain stops.

I have not started building my Gmade GS02f Christmas present to myself

I have spent a huge amount of time on a ‘66 Honda C200, I guess my heart is still 1:1 when time is limited 😂

Well done to you @silvertriple and your son!  I like how your son took the challenge to mask and apply different colors.  That's what advanced folks do.. well done.

+1

Both shells look great @silvertriple!! Your son has done a great job there, kudos!

I tried out my new el cheapo Staples plastic organiser tray on my second NIB build to date. It worked pretty well to organise the A/B/C parts bag from the kit and is something I wished I had during my first build, and is particularly handy this time around as I'm building this one across a few evenings.

Thanks guys!

I've passed the message to my son and he is happy with the feedback...

He decided not to put much stickers on the Ford GT and called it done.

And it seems he wants now to start the second kit he got for Xmas, the Super Hotshot. I'm looking forward on how he will make it...

Looks a great match in the pic. Look forward to seeing the finished article!

(orange is my favourite colour but because my son chose it for his I went another way!)

Go easy on the kerbs, rocks, furniture etc... 😂

Managed to find a window in the weather when the inside of the shed with the heaters on was just ok to spray my 2 CC02 bodies. First is the Unimog. It just had to be green, I might have to put a Matt coat on the outside cos whoever heard of a shiny Mog??? 540FE592-4604-43C6-A672-23FAEDD0E8C0.jpeg.6df7e1883b9a1562aaaedef4647ff942.jpeg

That looks awesome!  I too am not very fond of too many decals so I think it looks great.  Very clean finish.

Made the first serious attempt to adjust the SVC with the Grasshornet on snow tonight. I have tried it a couple of times gravel with the Tomahawk earlier, but I did not like it. Today it was much better. I have to give Shenlonco right, when he sais in one of the Grasshopper-videos that a gyro really changes the experience with these primitive RC's from our younger years:D.
