After decades away, I've very recently bought the TT-02 Audi Quattro. I love RC Rally cars.

Today, I tried to work on the steering and ride height. Next is mounting the servo and electronics This is the progress so far.

Yup. The entire car with 30 year old dirt, too.

Nice.  Send pics of the 959.  Always wanted one as a kid.

BTW MCI Racing is selling reproduction parts for the 959.

I forgot how disappointing Hobby Town can be with Tamiya kits. Traxxas and everything else out of the ears though.

Looks like they may have some vintage/oop pro-line tires, though!

Oh my, why do you just dont read first post/page  in thread v2.0?. This post/thread was getting to long and is often broken so we agreed to make a new, its all there on first page.

My original plan was to remove V2.0 when this was up again but since it was trouble often with the old we decide to keep it, but if some (as i suspected ) insist on using old post i will just change subject and be done with this…,

Yeah, why don't you just do that eh?

So did you delete the v2.0 thread?   I appreciate you took the initiative to keep the discussion going while the admins were fixing this thread.. thanks!    :D

I wonder if this thread is going to lock up again in a month's time..

@Nikko85 Is that the Banggood truck?   Good find and looks like fun, keep us posted on how things go.  I will do one more GF01 based car before calling it (almost out of display space, so..)

(Glad to see the thread up and running again)

Ordered new Sand Viper (DT-02) and Dark Impact (DF-03) shells for custom paint jobs. It'll take a while for the shells to arrive and then get mailed back out for the paint job, but I'm excited.

@msgimartin Besides the new rere Egress and Porsche, what other cars do you own?   ^_^

For me, I did not do anything RC again today..    I am itching all over for RC, but just ran out of time doing house chores and minor music room setup change.  I have to go back to work tomorrow (working from home) so between breaks I will open the XR311 and check out what I need to do to prep the body.  :D    I hope the office remains closed this month because omicron is out of control in the USA..    and will probably worsen in the coming weeks.

Ordered a Wild Willy 2 today.

Colors considering:

-Baby blue

-Orange

-White

-Fluoro Green

-Light light green

-Tiffany

All of those together ;)

Actually I saw a great one recently that had a metallic blue at the front blended to metallic red at the back with matching alloy wheels. It was a thing of beauty!

Plenty of cars paint jobs make or break them but I actually don’t think I’ve seen a bad WW.

I'm trying to create an over all theme between all of my Tamiyas so I'm trying to stick in the contemporary color range/80s fluorescents where it's appropriate or they make good accents.

Schemes I like -

-Gulf racing

-Petronas

-Martini

Anything retro and and classic will inspire my color choices.  Stuff like this.

But since this will be a tropics/beach themed Willy - I'll be going more toward something like this:

I also don't want to use a color I've already used if I can avoid it.

@JeffSpicoli nice! I look forward to seeing what route you go with it. Given it’s a hard shell I guess there are far more options than when you are painting lexan.

It's hard for me to not use Tamiya's paints since I'm kind of an OEM snob.  But at some point I'll run out of colors :)

Today iv'e fitted my Bigfoot shell on the Clod.

Sadly it sits a bit lower in the Back because the Bodyposts are lower for the clods lowered bed.....

Also, did not realise that I needed 1050s for the alum rear hubs when the bearing set only has 1150s for the stock hubs. Can't understand why they do that, had the same exact problem with the Tamiya alum front hubs for the M-05 as well although this time, the YR fronts are OK taking 1150s but not the rear.

That is weird, you would think they would take the same bearings as the kit originals. Maybe the Aluminium needs a bit more meat?

Everything I’ve built has taken 1150’s & 850’s, that was until my first TT02 I’ve just put together, 3 different size bearings in that chassis.
