Nice work!!!

Well, we’ll see how it goes..

Besides power drilling a drill bit into my thumb, the pass through hole went well..  ouch.

Using masking tape as bandaid.. I do this all the time in the garage.

Here’s how the glides will go on..  looks like  layered guacamole dip.

Losing the wing got me up to 52 kph. Going after speed is addictive, as most things RC. Do any of you know if adjusting the timing on the motor just influences the torque or also the RPM?

Trimming down the front bumper might get you a few more kph, and also reduce the chances of the nose lifting at speed. Plus I think the DT-02 looks quite good without it.

Today I finished off a project long in the making, a Nikko F10.

Sadly the ESC was fried, so I've had to use upgraded modern electronics. I managed to do this with the smallest modification to the chassis, but I have a spare chassis just in case anyone is too upset!

IOk96tS.jpg

All in all it was pretty straightforward. Bearings in everything (front and gearbox), full sized servo replacing the five wire original, and a silvercan in the back. The servo needed a bit of work, as it's a very tight fit, so I removed the mounting tabs, and too sanded down one side so it could tuck in.

It now joins my Golden Arrow..

For those who are interested, the chassis on both is a Nikko F10. They were "hobby grade" cars made by Nikko from 1985 (the year I was born) with very similar specs to the grasshopper etc. The Golden Arrow above has fully working original electronics, which do show their age (and require 4 x AA batteries as well as the 7.2 V pack) but as with most cars made in the 80s modern 2.4 GHz and an ESC really help.

I'm on the fence about keeping them - they make a nice pair, but my heart belongs to trucks and they are the wrong scale. I'll take the Nikko out for a spin on the dust field today and see what it can do!

Oh I love that Bison F10, I remember finding my cousin a 2nd hand one back in the day, so as he could run it against my Fox, not really up to the Fox, but was all he couldn’t afford at the time, it was great bang for buck I thought

Thanks.

Yes, this and the Nikko Brat were certainly contemporaries to what Tamiya were releasing at the time period.  There is an alternative history where Nikko would have made it big as a hobby grade RC producer, but I think the huge success of the 1/16 Turbo Panther meant that toy grade was more lucrative. Still, it's a nice slice of history.

They are nice cars - and the nice thing about them is, as always with Nikko, that Radio Shack and Tandy released copies where the parts are 90% interchangeable, so they are cheaper to fix than people think. However I'm a little tired of searching for whole cars to fix one part and I prefer the engineering to restoration, so despite my moniker my Nikko cars are going.

Oddly enough my "toy grade" fixation continues, as I've only got cars that are 1/16 - 1/14 scale - Tamiya versions of toy grade scale cars!

Today i joined a club ;)

After yesterday ordering a Plasma Edge 2, bearings for it, a pair of 2s lipos, a servo, a gt3b transmitter as well as some other random stuff.

From building/flying drones/planes i already have a lipo charger sitting around, as well as a fst6 transmitter but decided i want one with a wheel+trigger one.

The kit should be getting here around thursday but annoyingly enough ive just gotten an assignment that entails working 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week for a couple of weeks :/

Anyways, just saying "Hello" :)

Hello and welcome!

I hope the seven day assignment flys by so you can get to your Plasma Edge build!

Awesome work @Willy iineB)

I haven't done one of these yet, do you paint the driver first and then touch up the base afterwards? What did you use to get that weathered effect in the crease of the clothes?

It really depends on my mood, but this time I just sprayed the whole thing black knowing that I would follow up with high lights and lows anyway.

For highlights I use a dab of white with the red color I mixed, and the black is usually just straight black but thinned.  Hope this helps!

BTW.. Black gloves looked like I forgot to paint them so changed to gray.

Here’s the finished glove..with some added character..

I mean I’m no painter so it’s just adding definition vs boring single color to give it some life ..

Yet another great Escort!!!

I have been moving my 1:1 hobby cars and loads of parts out of my rental garage the last month, as it is bound for demolition. Yesterday was the last day and on the evening I had a donutparty with the Grasshornet (which has been sat in it's closet for a while). It's astonishing how well the worn out paddla-tires hold up. So many donuts over a year and still not through :-).

It is very nice, but no MK2 Escort's built at Dagenham😅
