Been off the forum for the past month or so due to life taking over (quite abruptly and intensely as it does sometimes, lol). It tool me several hours just to catch up with the last 20 or so pages of this very thread! wow guys you all progress super fast on your projects :)

Lots of great stuff, loving the looks of your Terra Scorcher @Re-Bugged! Quite discrete if compared to mine ahah!

I basically had close to zero time for RC whatsoever, but managed to work a little more on the Lancia and also had a couple brief escapades with the Manta Ray in the past few days. Nothing intense or postal racing oriented, just some free running close to home to stretch her legs a little

Any better photos you can share?  I picked up a used Manta Ray and looking for ideas to paint the body.  So far thinking of black to contrast the light grey dish wheels

That CC-01's teeth look okay as if it's never been run. Obviously if there is sand, it ran, though. I wonder if the torque from the prop can flex the axle case enough to open the seam?  (I smear pool grease at the seam. It traps almost all dirt.)

Going back to the teeth, teeth on my used CC-01 came damaged because the diff case could be pushed to the left on your photo... (the guy below is putting in 2 brass bushings there so it won't be pushed.)

Are you replacing bushings with bearings while you are at it?

@topforcein is that 3M Di-Noc you used?  I use to use that stuff all the time on my 1:1 car's interior bits when they were super popular.   Your car looks good with lots of character with the overlay.

this is what it is seller of ebay must use it to make the wraps and tbh it looks real good quality you can feel the weave of the fibre

My DT02 received the same treatment as Topforce his car: a carbon wrap as protector. Bought it for 2,50 Euro a roll (enough for many more chassis and parts). The material is avaiable in matt and gloss. It has a 3D pattern. Nice and it looks almost real.

Managed to get a bit done on my SD1 build.

Completed the base and outside of the light bar as much as i could, still missing some black lines to divide those compartments up.

I´ve got some Kyosho line tape for that, but i will have to wait until my sticker set arrives. Glued some silver foil on the inside using shoe goo.

Spent some time on the electronics as well, the light bar can be switched on / off, cycled through or a light mode can be chosen. The siren can be switched on and off,  finally the rear red and blue SMDs for the STOP POLICE sign work. They can be switched on or off. Everything can be on or off at once, or each one can be switched separately.  Well happy with that, even if the radio gear setup did confuse me for a while .

Made a video of it all working, "Beware headphone users, the siren is quite loud"

The bushings will be replaced with bearings and the mod with the brass bushings is also planned.

The idea with the pool grease for sealing the axle is very good. I will think about that.

The car is for the son of my wife's cousin, he is eight years old and this will probability be his first hobby grade RC. The car once belonged to his uncle who passed away 20 years ago. It's a little bit complicated. But I thought it would be nice to keep it in the family as it is there for at least 25 years.

I will just change it from low ride to off-road style and put in a slow motor.

That looks cool. There was a wired Unimog that looked incredible, but was only 20 cm long.

Do have a look at prices before you chop up the Nikko, some of them go for good money or might be great cars in their own right.

Yes, I looked at a Nikko Hilux 1:10 that seems to go for hundreds.
All the stuff I’m buying is cheap because it’s generally got something missing or broken.

Finished the rere, I should have the gold wheels tomorrow where I will paint the sidewall lettering as well for the final photo shoot.  :D

I also have a faster servo on the way..

The lamps are painted.. matte white face and semi-gloss black housing.  It was kind of a hassle setting up the ghetto paint booth yesterday just for spraying the white faces and then re-setting up the booth this morning just to spray the black, but I guess that is what it takes for a quality finish..

I was hoping to spray the red rolling tool case too, but work is just too busy today.

It was yet  another super busy day at the office.   I am tired and eyes are shot so not the cleanest job, but will clean it up further after the paint dries.

I’ve just ordered a pack of 4 servos from Amazon and some TRF ‘O’’ rings from eBay.

Are those the violet colored 20kg servos?  ^_^

MG996R 13KG’s 4 for £22 delivered.

I figured metal geared and digital I’d give them a go 👍

They might be 10 minute wonders though 😂

At that price definitely worth a try!  :D

I see good reviews on those.   $22 delivered in the USA with 0.13 sec 6V speed.. not bad!

I must admit the stickers on this are just horrendous!!! Also the body, like a lot of L&L ‘s bodies they seem to bow outwards in the middle. A lot of scalpel work and also touching up as many of the white shadows at the edges. They are pre cut so it’s quite difficult to trim them. + they don’t actually fit in the first place. Rant over, it’s what I call a 3 metre car, ie it looks ok from 3 metres 🥸

Oh yes. Currently on the mk2 escort in place of these blue ones. I’ve got a black set as well.

We are a similar age and lived fairly close to each other BITD, did you ever see the black mini saloon completely  covered in copper coins?

I remember seeing it as Kid in a park car park near Harrow or Wealdstone.
