Finally opened my td4 and started the build, didn’t get too far but better than nothing. Probably finish it tomorrow

That was me this morning.. I started the diff on my Evo (step1) and before I got to even tighten it, suddenly work related calls for hours.. and it's Good Friday today, should've been off.  Luckily things calmed down this afternoon so was able to get most of the chassis done.  :D   Although, I started getting work related texts and calls again after 5pm..  but hey, my work pays for my RC so..

Tomorrow I'm going to paint the side wall text and do the decals while the ink dries.. I hope to have the car completed by end of day tomorrow.    Hope you finish yours too, @ImALlama !!  GL!

Everyone says the TF Evo drives better than the Egress.  Can you confirm as you have both

Sure, I will drive them back to back.  The Evo is a tad more modern with the saddle pack NiCd slots on the chassis so it’s not a 1989 design, more like a 1997.. maybe.  I’m really digging the fiber tape slots.. fantastic!  :D

I am running ball diffs and front one way on both.. should be a fun comparison.

Today was my first day doing anything with my cars following a few really bad weeks at home.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone that has reached out to say hi and ask what I’ve been up to and especially to @Kol__ who made a huge effort and made me feel a bit human again. I owe you one.

On a lighter note I did a couple of hours of fiddling with my Military truck. I got a couple of decals on (still waiting for others to arrive), painted and fitted some accessories, added rear lights (care of Lego), bridge plate (thanks for the inspiration @FourthProtocol / @Fourth Protocol)  and re-fitted the canvas back properly. I’ve still not fixed the body mounts to the chassis as I’m still playing but think I will raise it some more.

Got some paint on the side wall lettering, but need to clean it up later..  the fronts have very little ledge on the edges of the text and the wobbly tip on the oil Sharpie makes it very difficult to get the paint on the ledge without running.

Should look fine at the end though..  :D

This reminds me of @Kol__'s dyed wheels.

You probably would have gotten it done quicker and with less waste to be fair, i messed up twice, had to iterate the design and reprint ;)

Styrene sheet construction is a noble art :)

Well your chassis turned out looking great so hats off to ya.  :D

What I like about styrene is it's like working with paper, but a tad bit more permanent.  If I had sheets of this stuff when I was a kid, I would've made so many things, I think.. I was so broke back then with limited allowance and budget so it was always about making something out of nothing (junk).  I guess that gave me some level of experience in that sense..  to make junk.

Update..  I think the lettering turned out okay..  I’m going to work on the decals this afternoon and tomorrow. :D

I was thinking I had some saddle packs from pre-2000, but apparently I converted all of them to side by sides..  oh well.. sport pack for now.

So today some parts for my next Project arrived…

what you think it will be? And how many parts I will be able to use?

allways tricky when you order Parts before the Car is here ;-)

I would suggest upgrading the plastic prop shafts to steel right away. Those stock ones are known to twist and snap. Also the shock towers to metal as the plastic one flexes a lot.

:)

I am doing set up right now on the Evo.. drives very well!    I am having tracking issues though after left turn (tracks right after turn) which I will fix after I finish some honey do’s..  :D

Update.. finished the honey-do list and finished setting up the Evo.  Fantastic car it is.  :D  Going to take a quick break and then start the decals.   On this car, I’m going for box art.

Thanks for the advice. Will see how it goes stock first. I came to a point that I want to build what I have stock (or only with the upgrades I already have) first and only upgrade what I feel really necessary when I run into problems or limitations with the stock parts.

See how long that intention will last 🤣
