I recall in the ads you were looking for a blue deck.  You also mentioned it in your weekend build as well.  Any photos of your TT02-R build? Did not know they come in different colors

Gotcha..:the ad was for the blue A parts, which I’ve now given up on 😂

I’ve got blue decks on a TT02RR (came with the kit) and TT02R (bought separately) and  have one for my Type S too

The TT02 decks came in black (standard), blue (47339), red (I think it just came with a Mazda TT02 kit but I have seen them pop up on eBay occasionally) and white (47340 and 84426, came with the white special chassis kit)

For me, with hope on my side, I painted the rear window trim and the trunk levers, rear plate lamp housings..

I really suck at masking (my vision is poor and can’t see white tape over white body very well) and ended up just freehand painting once again at the end.

So again, it took a few years off my life..

IMG_2022-6-12-145006.jpg.96d83249af94e3975cd76a17108a170b.jpg

But at least it looks presentable. :D   Later today I shall paint the turn signal base (side markers) and door handles black.   Freehand of course since masking is basically useless for me.

Wish me hope..

Final pictures for the day.. painted the hood latches, roof antenna base, side marker base, door handles, key holes..  turned out okay, I think..

Tomorrow I will paint the side window trims  and turn signals.

That looks like a lot of fun, and a great photo too 👌

Is that a South Wales beach?

Great fun! It's twitchier than ever with the paddles and brushless, virtually uncontrollable on-road lol. But on the sand it all comes together nicely and works pretty well!

It is indeed South Wales.

Finally, after like 6 months after receiving it, it's done:

20220612_164327.thumb.jpg.6eefa1ea3c4db55058291d4085f24a1a.jpg

Did a couple of laps around the house to try it out. A few considerations:

  • How many screws a model can have. I'm not looking forwards cleaning or upgrading it throughly.
  • Speaking of that, I will do exacly that since I've got a brushless motor to mount, coupled with 46p pinion and sprue.
  • The decals were a nightmare. Especially the big ones in the front, they didn't play well with the shape of the body. Lots of bubbles and wrinkles.
  • There's something I don't get with the steering. I've used CVDs for the front transmission, and I've skipped the limiters you are supposed to put if you use the basic dogbones. If you get to the end of the steering throw, there's some scratching noises going on that I don't think it's supposed to de there. Anyone had this problem?
  • The handling sure is interesting, it's really easy to initiate a drift, but it's also so easy to manage. Definitely worth the effort I've went in building this car. Hope it will deliver in the racing by post thread!

What an absolute beauty and a great choice of colours, I would never have picked them out but they work so well together.

Would love to see some more pictures.

Sorry for the confusion.   Looking sharp.  Is that anodized blue chrome on the second photo?   Did you back it with silver?   Looks sweet

Love the chrome vs tint detail on the windows. The rear wing massive.  Did you 3D print the front wheel disks?

I'm relieved, I'm coming up 1 year for my Sandscorcher body so I feel better!

More good progress in the TT02B parts-build...but first a little backwards step!

I realised I only had a TBLE-02S knocking about, so the 15T Kyosho motor had to go, replaced by a black can Sports Tuned which looks ace

spacer.png

Then, thanks to @Aerobert directing me to the body shell instructions, I was able to get the body and wing cut out, trimmed and sanded ready for paint

I think it's a lovely looking buggy, the best looking of the TT02-B shells IMO

It is definitely the best looking TT02B. Its no Boomerang or Fox, but its getting there!

No worries. Yes, it's PS-49 (sky blue anodised aluminium) backed with (I think) bright gun metal. I don't have the shell any more, I sold it to a fellow TC member a couple of months back :)

Thanks @Ferruz :D

When it came to the crunch, I decided I preferred the RR and have since sold the white one to an eBay buyer who is very happy with it

I stripped all the blue bits off it first and sold them to a fellow TC member, so hopefully they're having a second life within the community :)

Another 1/14 scale project, this time a 1/14 beetle body on a QD buggy to make a sand scorcher styled buggy.

C3wKjdm.jpeg

Unlike the king cab on a QD this didn't need any shortening of the chassis, it's a direct fit so super easy.

It can join the 1/14 king cab and Clodbuster (QD buggy and GF01 respectively) to join the 1/14 team.

Very nice. Love what you did with this design.

I had one and will be digging in my parents place looking for it this summer

Nice find with the beetle @Nikko85 it’s in great condition. Very cool.

52143357835_43f31c37b3_b.jpg

Today I got the white stripe painted on my Tandy/Radio Shack Jumbo Van, fitted to a GF01. While I was tinkering I also changed the springs on the YeahRacing shocks, I’ve gone with the softer option.

52142872351_2da3944101_b.jpg

The body is sitting high at the front as the electrics need to move a bit. I will sort that tomorrow hopefully.

Other than that I’m liking the look of this now. Today I also prepped some custom Tandy decals that I’m hoping will work when printed on a workmates’ Cricut. For now I’ve just put a Blockhead Decal on. I’m also going to try the R31House slicks on this, I think they will work well.

Thanks, the beetle was actually part of a GF01TR. Although the body is red, it had been painted, but not amazingly well with a few bits of hair/grit so I had to sand back and add new stickers. Not really sure why you'd paint a red car red to be honest. I was quite lucky with how well it sits on the QD buggy.

There's a second beetle body I've not got (that came with a QD MT) which I think I'm going to add to a radio shack 4x4.

That mini-mad van looks great - did you loose the lights, or are you waiting for LEDs?

Yes, of course, forgot you had that.

The internal light bar was broken so one was missing. I’ve ordered some cheap replacements from Tony, hopefully they will do the job.

This wrap around is critical to make the body look clean..

Cheers! I'm gonna say the picture lies a little, once you get closer it's plain to see there's some bleeding and rough edges here and there, but I know my limitations with a rattle can so I'm happy with it.
I'll try to get some more pictures up within reasonable time.
