Duly noted and appreciated. Shame as the have some great stuff.

It might be worth buying a set of something just to see what it’s like and what you would have to do to make it work. As I said some of it is due to white backgrounds that should be clear or visa versa

Continuing on with the @nicherotors Wheeler chassis.  :D

Amazing design!

Going to assemble some CVA Mini’s next.

Update.. will work on the chassis next after a break.. aka work.

IMG_2022-6-16-085911.jpg.6e2f494c4863348cc7c3b79bacd33be6.jpg

Update.. electronics installed, passed bench test.  B)

Next going to install the custom wheel hubs and wheels/tires.

Man.. Amazing design mounting the front wheels with nicherotor hubs to the front drive axles.  :D  This is how these wheels turn into actual drive wheels.

The top two custom hubs are for the rear with proper offset in case I want to run 4 front wheels and tires to get the nonstaggered set up.  Awesome!

IMG_2022-6-16-145016.jpg.4880b6a8873c2bf4f01235b319425446.jpg

Update.. actually I must have read wrong because I COULD NOT run the rear wheels on this chassis.  I can only run 4 front wheels as the rear wheels are too deep.

Good thing I’m a hoarder cause I would not have been able to finish the build without more front wheels and tires..

IMG_2022-6-16-150420.jpg.0c2aba2b41c4b6aaedd8269e1326a777.jpg

Update.. so I ran out of M2 screws to mount the hubs onto the back of the front wheels (5 each) so got some longer ones and cut them to length to make them work.

Took it out for a test drive and the car drives very well.  With the TorqueTuned with 19T pinion is a bit slow so will install a SportTuned motor later on.  :D

Really no adjustment needed on the alignment, will adjust damper height accordingly once the body and accessories are on the chassis.

IMG_2022-6-16-170610.jpg.c10d752216cfd4239dcab67eef1a1119.jpg

Final update for the day.. great job @nicherotors!!!  Holy awesome!

More to do tomorrow.. like front bumper install, rear valance with exhaust pieces, etc etc.  :D

Having been inspired by this

2022-06-16_02-29-11

And this:

2022-06-16_04-21-13

As well as this:

2022-06-16_02-29-52

I put the finishing aesthetic touches to this:

2022-06-16_02-35-21

2022-06-16_02-32-54

And also added a few extra bits to it's predecessor:

2022-06-16_02-34-08

Next I will turn my attention to the chassis, which has the 4WS and widened rear track mocked up, but is otherwise still an XB M-03 full of bushings.

That looks beautiful Sgt 🫡

The 934 wears that Martini scheme so well....I think it's my favourite Tamiya shell, it just looks so good in so many different liveries 😍

@Juhunio: I love your 30th anniversary Porsche with the Gulf color scheme :)

I hope Tamiya will be for the 50th anniversary model more creative and brings not again an TA02 SW Porsche 934 only with a different color scheme.

I’d like to get one of those Anniversary cars with a dual deck CF with full options.

They should include everything in those cars, no?

Yes, they should. But no, they don't  The 40th / 45th still need quite a few hop ups to be added. Well, they don't technically need them, but they definitely need them, right?

Saying that, the 30th Anniversary is pretty much fully loaded, with the whole chassis made out of carbon fibre or blue aluminium. Pretty sure everything in this picture came with the kit, except the stabilisers and electronics. Kit reference is 49400, if you fancy tracking one down

@Superluminal and @jonboy1 are having a TA02 RS build-off at the moment

There are carbon bits, vintage bits, brass collars, vast dollars, hop ups, punch ups, two tribes and blatant bribes!

One of them is better than the other. Couldn’t possibly say which one though 😂

That's some top shelf rhyme! Superb

Theres going to be some fierce competition by the sound of it, we might need to form a team @jonboy1 (obviously mine will be carrying yours to start with until you get the those stabilizer bars sorted - then POW!!!! Kidney punch :P:D)

@Juhunio - that's super kind of you to say that mine is better. Obviously I agree with you, what with mine having the FRP chassis and gold low friction dampers, (oh, and the adjustable turnbuckles which @Superluminal seems to have forgotten to fit ) but it's nice to hear someone validate my superiority of build ;)

@Superluminal - ok, as a great believer and supporter of charity I would be up for that. :D I may need to give you a masterclass in aligning the screw heads on your builds before we go to war though, OCD should not be ignored, especially when going into battle.

This is not ok.

Yesterday I took my Thunder Dragon out for another beach run and the pinion/spur gave out!

I think it's a combination of 2 main things. Firstly using a cheapo alloy pinion and secondly, a little sand ingress. Combined with brushless power and sand paddles that give some pretty decent bite even on soft sand!

To be honest, I kind of skipped my usual check for dirt proofing during initial assembly so that's probably a factor. I never thought to ask back then if there's any particular areas of concern in terms of dirt/sand getting in.

I'm using a sealed can brushless motor so it's nothing getting in through the motor vents. I usually put a bead of grease around the gearbox halves but I have a feeling I didn't this time. I'm also not sure how well sealed the area around the metal motor mount is etc.

Anyways, I have a nice hardened steel pinion to go in and a gear bag on the way so I can replace the spur. Once I've stripped it down and given it a good clean, I'll check for any obvious weak points and address as necessary and then reassemble with strategically placed grease to form a barrier/trap, which has worked a treat on other stuff I run at the beach.

For the last few years my "bashers" have been a re-re Blackfoot and a TXT-1 that I modded. Unfortunately the TXT can't take much horsepower and the Blackfoot was so worn out I had to retire it. Luckily I never ran the hard body, so it looks amazing on the shelf with Ampro's LED light kit. The TXT will get shelved next because they've both been replaced by the LMT :D

Of course I turned the LMT into a yard sale on day 1 by disassembling everything to make sure the build was up to snuff - I cannot overstate how impressed I am with this truck. I wish Tamiya would make a modern solid axle truck.

@Yoshimitsu Woah!  Very nice!!

So for me, cool cars always have cool exhausts so made tips for the nicherotors Wheeler muffler canister using random aluminum tube I had. :D

IMG_2022-6-17-081839.jpg.e093e5e69f245f3cd24088c7a7bb99c9.jpg

Will mount these when the black inside dries.

Update.. going to mount the valance and axle back onto the car next.  :D

IMG_2022-6-17-104308.jpg.d9928b7e996e7fe5b24755ff022a7b2e.jpg

Update.. More details on the front side.. going to work on the body post next.  :D

IMG_2022-6-17-113256.jpg.04ef55cf69652ca1a50f72da8675da66.jpg

Update.. Basically I am done with the car; I will do a few minor adjustments including cutting the drive axle that is sticking out beyond the wheel nut on the front, suspension tuning, and a few other items.. and do a proper photo shoot.  The stance is perfect with the non-staggered setup.

I love this car!  :D

Thanks again @nicherotorsfor sharing your talents!!!
