@Juhunio Could it be that the o-rings are over compressed in their chamber?   Have you tried loosening the lower cap just a smidge to allow the o-ring to decompress just a tad against the shaft?

Very light cleaning of the shaft with steel wool might help too if these are older damper shafts.  If old shafts, might be time to replace the shafts themselves..

For me, no RC (radio control), but wired control today.. been working on fixing my lawn irrigation system as there are 2 zones that appear need new valves.. the units are so old I can't find the right solenoids for them any more so will replace the entire valve.

With a voltmeter I verified that the control box is properly sending AC24v+ out each of the zone terminals so that is good.. my lawn contractor guy is going to install new valves for all the zones hopefully this week.  :D

My wife says she found a nice new controller unit for it too, with App programmability, smart weather tracker and activation, etc. will do that maybe next season.

Thanks for the tip, I rebuilt them for a 3rd time today and nothing changed  I'll slightly loosen the lower cap and give that a go

The shafts are essentially brand new, having been unused from a DF03 build and in the spares pots for a couple of years. They look spot on, but I will try to give them the steel wool treatment as a next option

Yeah, hummmm.. that is odd.  I wonder if the damper housing is not completely true (round) near the bottom.   In this case spacers inside to limit the damper from full extension might help the piston not get logged (stuck)... not sure.

I'm still faffing about with the dampers, but visually I'm calling this done

spacer.png

Ok, ok, so I couldn't stick to my 'one colour' intentions and couldn't resist a little bit of personalisation. It turned out ok, and I did stick to the 'minimal stickers' bit

spacer.png

Colours are Gun Metal and Bright Silver, backed with Black (apart from the wing where the Gun Metal acts as the backing)

spacer.png

Stickers are a mix of a monochrome TRF set and a Dual Ridge sheet for a few TT02B details

spacer.png

It's probably the least 'TRF' car to ever wear the badge, but let's not take these things too seriously, right?

Had to take the day off work today, because of a tooth that has been killing me for the past several hours. In order to distract myself from the pain while waiting for the dentist appointment, I started setting up my RC corner once again. Since the flood we had last year, all of my RC equipment has been living in bags. No shelves, no tables and no display, (well, apart from the occasional car-s- in the livingroom, lol). So it did feel good to take a few things out and put them on display again after some dusting. It's a small space, crammed and not even comparable with any of the RC rooms we often see on the forum, but still it's much better than the situation I was in exactly one year ago 😅

We are planning on moving when possible anyway, so maybe then I'll make more ambitious plans for my RC space. For now, this will do.

Thanks for the kind words  @Willy iine! Unfortunately nope the tooth is not done, turns out I'm gonna need a root canal so for now it's just pain and antibiotics 🤕

As for playing the piano, that'd be my wife :D

Oh man.. that sounds painful!  Hope you get the procedure done soon!!!

Nice, I play pretend keyboards myself.   I took private classic piano lessons when I was little and ever since middle school I’ve been playing keyboards as a hobby.

So my wired remote lawn irrigation system is now fixed!  My contractor came out in super short notice and replaced all valves for me.  Running the system now.  B)

:D :D:D:D:D:D:D:D <= my grass.

Trimmed the JConcepts Ford body for my CR-01 monster. All done with Tamiya curved scissors and only one slightly over-trimmed corner so my best effort yet. A little sanding wi help to tidy it up.

Thanks to my son I have a complex masking / paint job to do next...

Debating whether to use silver for my bumpers - they are pretty big to attempt with a Molotow pen!

ouch.... but i know your pain as i have had 5 of them done in the past quite amazing though when you look at it unless you have to have them cap'd like i had to that is the worst esp with the temp caps they use until the replacement one is made esp if you have a filling on teeth above/below the afending tooth as i had a kind of shock from the temp caps used when i had mine done plus they keep comeing off also.

hope all is fine in the end for you;)

Today ive switched out the dead servo and broken front arm on my Scorched DT02.

I also removed the travel limiters from inside the front shocks to make it longer as there is a quite a bit of space before the chassi would smack the ground or wheel would touch the archers.

To fit the change ive designed an extension to go on the shock tower so it should go together properly, printing it now to do a test fit.

Thank you! I know, this is the 3rd one for me...quite the nightmare physically and financially, isn't it??🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ oh and I wish us modelers could receive the same salary as a dentist for doing our hobby, after all both work with small finicky things, right? 😂 lol sorry I must be delirious by now, it's been two sleepless nights in a row... and today is national holiday for the folks here, so nothing is open. Fortunately another dentist was able to help me out on the phone just now so finally, after 48 hours of incessant pain, I have a prescription for some proper painkillers and an appointment on Monday. And yes, I did not mention that the "dentist" that saw me yesterday was a nice, way-too-young 20ish y old with absolutely zero experience which prescribed the wrong antibiotics -and zero painkillers and it shows now... anyway enuff of that, I don't wanna spam the forum with pesky personal issues 😅 thanks for the encouragement friends, should be getting better soon.

Jumping between projects…

Back to my second 911 RSR Safari.  First time using a body reamer.  Greatest tool since polycarbonate scissors.

Nerve racking making holes in the nose for rallye lights. I was not sure if it would look good. A8F6E517-8543-43DF-B29B-DFF75F7FE995.jpeg.d761c903a3eccdfcecedbd67c7662f07.jpeg

A double Oops afternoon.

El kid got the Monster CR-01 stuck with the throttle pinned. The plastic driveshaft demonstrated that it was the weakest link in the chain. Oops.

We fitted two new faster motors to the Dual Hunter and while they were fine with the kid, when I got my heavy handed paw on the tx, the power would soon cut out. Of course it would! I'd forgotten to consider the turn limit of the ESC when purchasing two 15T Firebolts! Oops.

Ah well, I managed to pop the driveshaft back on and a pair of used silver cans will be quicker than the pair of 55Ts that had been in the Dual Hunter previously.

This is how I received it @Frankster

BBEB1C32-B7C3-494C-B6DF-35E8DE1C79F1.jpg

And how it looks now

DSC_2876.jpg

There's quite a bit of building in one of these as the manual will testify.

In theory, this can be a crawler / scaler again by simply swapping over the wheels and locking out the 4WS using the tx. Not that I have tried it, having too much fun with it as a monster!

I also found the CR-01 fascinating and had a hankering to build one. To the point where I've a couple NIB. Not quite sure why I didn't build one of those instead of buying this used one but there hasn't been too much logic behind my Tamiya purchases!

Very nice.  I prefer monster / basher to crawler myself.  Interesting the frame is black.  All the new kits are silver.  I like the damper mod which looked odd from factory.

There is no logic to Tamiya car hobby… 🤦‍♂️

Just came back from a proper dentist. The whole thing will take a couple more appointments to be completed, but the excruciating pain is finally gone!!! After 3 horrible days and 3 completely sleepless nights, this is such a relief. Dang, nasty teeth, this has been one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life hands down, so glad at least the painful part is over -although the wallet is bound to bleed quite some more, lol-

I think I'ĺl hit the sack now

Not 100% done, just need to add the wing mirrors and final trim of the posts, but other than that I’m stoked with how this fictitious fantasy I’d like a 1:1 on the drive turned out 😁 Out of time for now so this is where I’m at…

Big thanks to @yogi-bear for the Motul stickers from my Fighting Buggy build 👍🏻 Top bloke. Came in handy for this one…

Slow and steady pulling the Shogun and Ninja apart. I need to find a manual online as this will be badword to put together, in one second I’m thinking I’ve got a nice system, the next I start singing along to the music and I’ve completely forgotten what my so called system was.
