@Kol__ That's a clean install, looks good.   Sorry to hear about the wing... hope you can fix it or source a new one.   I saw your picture in the gallery thread out in the wild.  Nice~!  :D

Cheers Willy. No worries about the wing really, she's a runner. The polycarbonate feels a little brittle, so might just be that causing it to split fairly easily. I'm just so happy with how she ran, fast as anything and the new suspension set up works a treat👍

it needs the ally panel along the bottom of the door. That seems to slim the body down. I think that looks brilliant.

Agreed. That would add a nice bit of detail.

If you were still keen on the two tone you could paint the outside of the shell, much easier to mask then lacquer.😎

I got the 2 new shelves so assembled and wired up new lights.   I have to be honest, it took some effort and was pretty tired after the setup.   :D

The contents on the shelves will be rearranged, but just a ‘test drive’ shot to see how it looks overall.  I got all my buggies off the floor so that’s good.

Still some work to do rest of the room..

Oh man that looks so good!

I dunno, I kind of regret the colour now. It's kind of already an ugly car, I feel like I made it worse giving it an ugly colour 😄

I found another pic of an Europa in NZ that was two tone, washed out yellow on top and white on the lower, which looked really cool, but I couldn't get the tape in the crevice of the front bumper that I was happy with. After half an hour of fighting it, I threw the towel and went the one colour 😄

Still more to do, (shut lines etc) but here's a progress pic.

I really like the schoolbus yellow for sporty cars.  Some race decals may break up the yellowness and add a more aggressive look.

😄 When looking at the 1:1 cars, I preferred them without the silver on the bottom, but on the real car obviously the sill is more rounded and you can see the stitch, whereas you can't on a polycarbonate body.

I like the colour on it but feel it is let down by the window trim stickers (not the application, that looks superb!), perhaps it is the smoked glass? It has put me off getting a shell for one of my spare M04 :(

They do look a little tacky. I tinted it slightly with ps smoke, I probably shouldn't have, it was only a light coat.

I though about doing that before removing the protective film. I was concerned the join would be too noticeable, especially on the bumper.

This is the car I was originally going to replicate, unfortunately I struggled masking inside the bumper so gave up.

I thought the frames looked too wide @berman but then when you actually look at photos, they are wide. So it is my Matchbox cars that are out of whack :D.

And the windows do look dark in the one that was  linked / the one you posted above so I'll just get my coat

Nice! For some reason I feel it needs Roger Moore leaning up against it in a white, large lapelled suit with a lemon yellow tieB)

For me, I had to go to the office today so not much time to do RC.. however continued on with the display shelf, like cleaning up how the cords were routed under the shelves and what not when I got home.

Still a ways to go, but making progress.

They are going to turn my RC gravel area into a football pitch.

The article does not mention the lone man using it to drive children's toys - shoddy journalism at its finest!

In all seriousness, a  little bummed about this - I hadn't used it much with a 4 month year old, but was looking forward to using it with the kid next summer when he could toddle along, as it's always deserted and is a huge area to drive.

You have a BMX track right next to it and you're worried about a gravel car park? I've been fighting the council for years for a gravel BMX track!!

In RC related news I got the Baja out yesterday to go for a drive - and it needs a new spark plug. I bought another one today (AUD$6) but the moment has now passed, and it's going to rain for the next week. Oh well, I'll go boating on Sunday - at least the boats like the rain!

The BMX track is really well used - so most days when I can get there it's occupied (and I think bikes take priority) whilst the gravel patch always empty.

However with the drought the entire park is turning into a dust bowl, so I'll have lots of space to drive. :(

Today I took a couple of my cars to the local park, to drive on tarmac and dry short grass. Just a quick blast before work.

Really happy with both of them. Going brushed on the King Cab with a 370 motor makes it a lot quieter and smoother and zero cogging. It's nicely fast now, but not insane. As fast as you'd want a small, light 1/15 scale truck to be really. 2S li-ion battery gives punch without weight. Reminds me of the way I remember my Tycos and Nikkos as a kid, but actually much nicer than they were. Although I know the QD gearbox can take a 12T brushless on 3S, it's nice to know I'm not stressing it too much, especially as these QDs don't have rear bearings!

The GF01 handles great too. I completely changed the suspension geometry with vertical shocks and got much softer springs for an old school ride. Still handles much better than a CW01 and it's 4WD but you get that monster truck feel. Extending the wheelbase by flipping the rear arm lowers the wheelies and stoppies, so it's more usable. It's got a 20T pinion and TT motor, so although it's not a speed demon, it's sparky enough. I still need to get the spacers to move the wheelie bar back, as it's in the original position, which doesn't work with the flipped rear arms.

Although they are both loosely based on Monster/Monster racer trucks there is a huge size difference! I had been tempted to use a WR02/GF01 as a base for a KC, but glad I went for the QD buggy.

They look great @Nikko85 ! What I really like about your 1/15th King Cab with its smaller wheel ratio (compared to the Tamiya King Cab) is how much it looks like the original 1:1 race truck...

Many thanks, although I have to admit that Taiyo did it best. How good were toy grade RCs in the late 80s.

I did try Sand Scorcher tires on it, which have a much closer proportion to the King Cab tires, and it is an option going forwards - but to be honest I'm worried it will roll, and as you said, there's something about being closer to the real truck that's pretty cool - I've got a number of "monster" sized trucks (in fact too many) so this is more of practical sized vehicle.

Today I'm tested new shock mounts and additional weight on my Subaru Impreza WRC TT-02. And something went wrong - in long left turn at the rear right wheel unglued tire. And rim was a little bit grinding.

Conclusion: less weight, more glue, correct tires, tougher sponge for asphalt))

By the way, shock mounts showed themselves from the best side. After a few nasty shocks to the suspension, no defects, cracks or problems. We will test further)

With new Chinese tires decided to use restored Chinese rims)

Not authentic, but not so pity if anything)

I’m auditioning several display setups.. ignoring the card board back wall which will be replaced by a matte gray wall, would you prefer with or without the tiles?

I wanted to get ghost checkers for the floor tiles, but there is none available so decided to trial black and white..

I might also consider gray or black tile boarders.. or go narrower on the red..

Another option to go without the back wall..

@Willy iine red border is... racing-looked) Grey more neutral. Tiles must have, add some old-school, or something similar. Dont know how to explain.

Thanks!   Yeah, I am trying to get the neo-retro (?) kind of vibe going on, not going for the full vintage theme.  Since these cars are race cars per se, I suppose keep the red borders..and the tiles, I too think goes well with the theme.  I just lose definition of the smaller items when picture taken from a far..

I asked my crafty wife what she thought and she agreed with my pretend-artist son that the background gray wall is required to separate and minimize destraction from the stuff behind the display..and maybe even add a wall to the side.   I have plastic corrugated sheets coming to me so will paint that drywall gray and attach to the back and sides.

Just another trial shot.. I will be adding banners, pictures, etc to dress up the walls.   With hope it might look better..
