Today I'm modelling front rims for my 1/24 Wild One Blockhead, using new mechanic for me. Suitable with 2x5x2,5mm ball bearings.

Every printed part moves this project forward to the tires printing.

painted the Alpine body and ancillaries. Quite pleased with the outcome. Had done some detailing with Molotow chrome from the inside. In a couple of places the chrome has bled into the blue. Should be easy to rectify. Also built myself a wrench bench!!! I often find it’s more comfortable standing up doing some tasks so I’ve built a Mini workbench that sits on the side bit of my work area. Also means I can set up my airbrush booth under it!!!

Made my first attempt in redesigning the white disc wheels on my TD4. Not completely there but I think I've got the direction. Anyway I will try other designs in the next days.

Trying to decide:

Vintage ESC vs. new ESC

After cleaning and testing - > vintage is doing fine.

Nothing wrong with vintage stuff...especially if going into an older model or vintage car?   :D

In prep for the Jack Osbourne figure to arrive tomorrow, I glued a new Willy head.  I’m going to paint this one red and place him in Willy’s work shop.  B)

Picked up some wheels that had just arrived at my LHS (impulse purchase) while on my way to physio. Installed them tonight (104 hex bolts).😬

The other wheels I ordered... ummm... might have to buy another 1/24 🤷

Last ‘off’ day for me so charged a couple of batteries and headed to the beach as it was low tide this morning. The Buggy Champ and Wild One were the cars of choice, but only the WO got a run as I’d forgotten the Tamiya to Deans connector for the BC 🙄 Plonker.
Still, WO was great, now debating going to another spot via home to drain the the other pack over a coffee.

Not exactly RC related, but worth mentioning. While I'm still quite prostrated by my back pain, it did get a little better lately, and today I was kinda able to drive. So I took my family -which is here visiting- on a nice field trip all the way to the Gilles Villeneuve museum, right in his hometown of Berthierville, Quebec.

I was aware of the museum but never been, I wanted to wait for my father to come visit to go see it together, since he's always been a huge fan of Gilles and would always fascinate me as a kid with all sorts of tales about him and his incredible driving style (my dad didn't know him in person, but he used to race cars and knew some people in common).

The museum was adorable, small and detailed and well kept, I could have stayed the whole day. It met  and exceeded all my expectations, and reminded me very much of some cute small car museums that were all over the place in Australia.

@Grastens I know you are a huge fan of Gilles and if I'm not mistaken you are also in Canada so I was wondering, have you ever been to that museum?? If not, trust me, it's definitely worth a visit!👍

And, just to end this post right: I am proud to say that I actually live on Rue Villeneuve 😄 if only that could grant me some +300 hp under the hood of my car, lol

@Ferruz I can't say I have been that way! However, add that to my bucket list!

I am hoping to find some way to run my Ferrari 312T3 on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on October 8, 2023 - or 45 years to the day of his first F1 victory. The facility has open access to the public, either walkers, runners, cyclists, etc., and with my RC car and some broken French, maybe I can convince the staff to let me run on that day!

And if not 2023, I will have lots of time to plan for the 50th anniversary in 2028! :P

Going to paint Willy’s face this afternoon.. but while waiting for the red to dry, decided to work on the body..

Yanked off Jack’s head, cut the ball joint horizontally, then drilled a hole for a long grub screw.

IMG_2022-8-19-105812.jpg.3455f8c85bdb17755956735493247544.jpg

Test fitted another Willy’s head.. :D

IMG_2022-8-19-105841.jpg.f5f41af8895513c86146490c76e1ff6b.jpg

Will paint his hands so he does not look so pale..

Update… almost there.   Will allow to dry for maybe an hour and do the decals.  :D

Sounds like a cool plan indeed! I do confirm that Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has open access to people, I've covered every inch of it myself on my cruiser skateboard a few years ago (before the RC bug bit again) and then one more time on a bike. I know that you can even drive your car on it, but obviously with some massive limiting factors involved, like 30 kmh speed limit or something of the sort, can't remember now. I am sure you'll be able to run your 312T3 anytime.

Drop me a line when you decide to follow through with the plan, I may be able to join with a suitable ride 😁

Oh and by the way, Berthierville is only a 45 min drive from Montreal, so in that occasion you might want to drive your T3 a little further all the way to the Gilles museum, I guarantee you it'll be worth it.

14E904E1-1C38-44C3-BF28-FF0D49BA1CA4.jpg Did a bit more on my stand up work station. I seem to surround myself with heaps of crap so purchased 2 IKEA drawer units so that I can tidy a lot of stuff away. The one in the middle is old. They hold A4 sized items. Same as the middle one but the other way round. I’m also looking for a better airbrush station to encourage me to use it more. Will be for winter static modelling but may be used for RC stuff!

So.. looks like I can make a few gum ball machines using these clear ornaments my wife got for me.. these are about 30mm in diameter.  :D

I have a date with my wife tomorrow to visit the artsy Michael’s store.  Going to get me some 5mm beads..in Tamiya colors, of course!

To the best of my limited ability I Finished up  the stickers today( nerve wracking cutting up 30 + yr old stickers). But worth it.
I still have to replace the front springs replace the steering links and mount the silver can. Almost finished with the rebuild. Just taking it slow

After a ridiculous amount of time/attempts, went through everything I own what feels like hundreds of times, I finally found my rc tools!! It’s a wonderful day :D. In other news.. I tried to take my super Blackfoot out the other day to do a speed run (nothing serious, just for fun. I’m curious how slow it is ) but it didn’t want to move. So I got that sorted today with a new receiver and reprogramming the esc. Also dug out my old bash/race body for it, an original Blackfoot body from my fathers truck which has seen better days and been covered with whatever decals were laying around at the time. Knowing what I know now I wish I had been a tad more gentle with it, and used the non Ford version for destroying instead, too late now though.

Also took some time to work on the decals on one of the many bodies I need to finish, just need to locate the hardware to mount the wing and other bits now

Working on my Aqroshot i just noticed that there is a manufacturing defect on the casing of one of the rear dampers, its a void that is about 4x4 mm, taken out of the threads so the there wont be a proper seal.

gocs7y2.png

I bought it through amazon so i guess im contacting them but its a real buzzkill.

EDIT: Ok, got 16 bucks back as im not in the mood to send the nearly fully built kit back to get another one.

Are CVA parts trees available separately? :)
