Non Tamyia related… but today I dusted off my Gundam I built 4 Years ago…and I‘m always amazed by those details and mobility these kits have… feeling like a little boy again. I spend endless hours on that Project 🤪

Well after a while away from rc I've decided today that when I get paid next week I need to buy a project to tinker with in the dark evenings.

That beetle looks great with the red wheels @Nikko85

Thanks. I did have white ones but they went back on another car. I usually like white wheels on all cars but this kinda suits. Perfect colour match too.

I've gotta be honest the beetle body fits this QD so much better that the GF01TR it was originally on!

Finally a free afternoon! The TD2 is almost complete. A little worried I’ve over tightened the diff but I’ll check it when running and fine tune if need be.
My favourite build since coming back to the hobby, a really nice kit to put together.

Today, I ordered the remaining parts needed to turn the bunch of spare Lunch Box parts I have into a second Lunch Box.

This one will be completely standard and box art.

Everyone needs two, stock and modded, right?

Today I ordered some parts for my grasshopper and ff03, then I decided to mount my rc racks in the garage for now since I don’t really have a good spot in the house. Need to add another row or two and get the rest of my cars out of storage containers so I can have them on display

also because I was moving stuff around, I decided to take a few pics of my rc with the real car since the rc has been in the back seat area of the car for the past 23 years or so but I’ve somehow never taken a photo of the two together.

back when the model of the bike was painted, the real one had a regular swing arm and side exhaust so they matched better, maybe I should see about modifying it.

Very nice @ImALlama !!   Awesome collection indeed. B)

For me, I finally took some snaps of my Optima MID and posted them in the gallery only thread.  Please check them out if interested.  I have to say, I am a big fan of Kogawa-san's cars.. this is by far the best.  I am going to be doing another Optima MID build after I do the Turbo Scorpion next.  The Optima MID #2 will definitely be yellow with brushless setup.  :D    I ended up ordering the 15.5 LeMans motor this afternoon..  not sure if I'd ever use it, but why not.  I'll just display it with the car if I don't use it.

I also got the waterproof split-less wire loom, so I am going to see if I can make the skeleton for Willy's vac hose..  I want it in an oval shape so I need to put some sort of core inside.  Wish me hope..

Nice man.  Are you doing a new build or getting used chassis and restoring them?   I really enjoyed restoring my M38's.. it's a completely different sense of accomplishment and joy when restoring old beat up cars to new (new-ish) condition.  :D

Thanks, yeah, I did get a bit carried away..      Used sounds great.   I urge people who always build new kits to try restoring a beat up old vintage car as there is just so much character in those older cars...brining them back to life is just awesome.  B)    Looking forward to your creation!

Just a little carried away ha ha ha. I've always enjoyed used models and I like to tinker clean replace parts ect. I'm hoping I find somthing soon at a reasonable price as I find Ebay prices can be a bit silly for used rc.

I was in the livingroom setting up the Terra Scorcher for an outing today, when I accidentally pulled the throttle and sent her crashing straight onto the armchair. The sounds and visuals were quite dramatic, with plastic pieces flying all over and the car left with a dangling wheel under the front right suspension. I think I must have sat perfectly still for a good minute or two wondering how I could be this stupid, LoL, before actually going to pick up the car and check the damage.
Luckily, the only casualty was the front right knuckle. It shattered in four pieces, hence the plastic pieces flying around- but the rest of the suspension parts is unharmed. After double checking for further damage, I swiftly ordered some black aluminum replacements from RCJazz. I would have gone for plastic again no problem, but as of now the alu option was cheaper and so I went for it.
I was also able to put the shattered piece back together with glue, so I'll probably end up testing its resilience before the replacements show up!

As for today's run, the dependable Big Boss filled in for the momentarily injured Scorchy.

@berman

😎 for the truckin’ time, but a 😢 for the knee. Ouch!

I had the same thing when I started running a few years ago. The running shop in Cardiff had an in-house osteopath who diagnosed patellofemoral dysfunction syndrome, very sore but easily fixed with some home physio.

I thought I was reasonably fit cos I used to cycle around Bristol a lot, but in my case cycling did nothing for the VMO muscle above the knee meaning it was too weak for running, putting too much pressure on my knee

A few weeks off the running and lots of seated alternate-leg lifts did the trick, giving the knee time to recover and building up the VMO. Not had knee pain since 👍

Get ye to an osteopath!

Thank you! Oh no, I might have to google that, sounds sore! I haven't been for a run for 3 days and I'm getting withdrawals. I think I did the injury a week ago, I was going for my morning run but it was pitch black out, I went to cross an intersection and didn't see the drop down in the footpath to match the road and jarred my knee. When I went again the next morning, I was compensating and trying not to put pressure on it, mistake #1. I will take your advice and get to an osteo. The swelling has gone down a lot and it isn't as painful, but I cannot bend it 90 degrees. Thank you for the advice!

Sorry to hear about your knee injury @berman    Actually I fell off my step ladder on my driveway a few weeks ago while painting our exterior lamp housings (lost my footing due to dumb) on my garage wall.. I thought I broke my right ankle and knee, but managed to finish the project while limping.  I am still limping and very painful to walk up and down the stairs.  And the icing on the cake was the fire drill we had at the office where we had to walk down the stairwell several flights a few days ago.. why today, I asked.

Get well soon!

Thanks! Far out! With all the RC and honey-do's you get done, I thought you were the king of avoiding accidents. 😄 I would have opted out of that fire drill if I was in your state, and told everyone I would run if there's a real one. But I guess your work would imply even if you were injured, you'd have to escape quickly anyway 😄

Does anyone take the Tamiya racing truck and just rip it up? 😁

The owner did take it off and blast it on the layout, it was quite funny! 😄

Today I took some clangers to the park. Got a few onlookers and questions, and a couple of kids that were watching got a turn on the DT03 and the lunchie, which the parents were happy about. The DT03 certainly needs a hotter motor, it was fun but isn't fast enough in a big open area to be entertaining.

This is my first run with the Mojave. I've had a fair share of 60mph cars, but this behemoth is just an outright animal. What a fun truck, havent smiled this much in ages. Just waiting for the batteries to charge again and will hobble down to a more local park for another blast. 😁

After buying some carbon rods in lockdown I've finally decided to use it. I've decided to make a prop shaft for my tl01 I've just cut it to length just to drill the holes for the pins. Any idea what size the holes are? As I will need to buy a drill bit as I don't think I'll have any the size of the holes lol

If the diff nut is anything like the TD4 if you've got that feeling you over tightened it you probably have already stripped it! if there's one hop-up part for these buggies which is a must it's the alloy diff nut:D
