Super fun afternoon. 327 laps / Full 6+ hours of trackside carpet fun. Hot race foam are the national standard, the wheels are modified to have them fit. 6,5T modified 😀

I finally finished the paint and decal refresh on my big orange clod.
The decals are MCI and I changed the orange stripe and text  for silver. I think it works.

There are the same cars available here

Oh, sorry, thought you are in the UK, which none seems to be available (based on a quick Google search).

not sure how I'm going to do a sofa

Bits of cloth, (old) tyre foam and bits of wood.

Not a sofa, but you get the idea.

Yeah, I have this rule where I only use styrene unless it is a prop like that wire loom for the shop vac or beagle..

Painted.

I still need to clean up some overspray.  Lots of masking as original body did not have paint spray protection film.  PS-22 with black backing.  Painted cockpit with PS-22 but will fill in these of area with acrylic flat black   Just wanted the driver body to be matching green.

Looks great “as is” but I have decals on standby to be installed  A8CA41F4-5B3A-4986-8F9A-E7F1A2EED6A0.jpeg.706ce08290a109f83df09c46978d9368.jpegCFE8ED05-4BB6-41AE-9061-0FEA19B86055.jpeg.5cec08ac96f29c5336d7c419481ab22e.jpegE7F3F6CD-C212-406B-B405-008515E43005.jpeg.8f78fe248879a74d448e2ef643640ff3.jpegE7B525CA-DE9D-42DB-B9E5-0A359A84841A.jpeg.54ae0354723ebb1816c6511b46e9c418.jpeg

So here I am at Nakano Broadway trying not to buy anything. I see a mini JR thunder Dragon in one stall. I got it now...

Edit, I also got another GTR 33 3-4" model car. I'm already at close limits for souvenir space so help me God...

Wubba lubba dub dub... for my sanity I'm trying not to enter every shop.

@Frankster Are you going to make that like a Willy military theme?  :D  Very nice.

Suppose to be more British Racing Green than military olive drab green.  Not finished yet 🤗

MN-45 body on a QD and GF01. From the reviews the MN-45 isn't that great, being somewhat sub WPL, but all the reviews said the body was pretty nice. Doesn't feel super strong, but not awful either. There are a couple of rough patches, but for the price I've no complaint, and there are lots of nice details. I need to add the in panel lines (would a Gundam marker do the job, never done this?) to make it pop. The wing mirrors are rubber which is quite nice.

Not a terrible fit. The GF01 has the extended wheelbase with the rear arm flip mod, making around 195 mm wheelbase. The Mn-45 chassis was advertised as having a 190 mm wheelbase, but either this is wrong, or the body doesn't quite fit the chassis as I could see this body fitting a 200 - 210 mm wheelbase a little better, but I think this still works well enough for me. It's a little comical/cartoony (esp with the cat) but I like it.

Probably going to attach it to the GF01.

@Nikko85  That looks good.  The wheel base on these comicals are pretty much eyeball okay at best so nothing to worry about there.  If the arches to wheel alignment bothers you, I would lift the body some and maybe give it some rake (lower front body positioning).  Usually helps tame it down, I think.

GL with your body mounts!

For me, since my instagram page is so empty like the contents of my skull, I decided to fill it with more bandwidth pollution of my prior projects to showcase who Willy iine is.    I am a super newb once again.

After I upload a few more pollutants, I plan to continue working on the Optima MID #2.  This time I am using Yeah Racing's CF set.. overall the quality is good, but not a big fan of the bright silver weave.  I should've noticed that prior to purchase because I would have just gotten the Kyosho CF.  I may still do that later, but for now going to finish it with the bits I have.   The set was also missing the lower sus arm tie down pieces so ordered the Kyosho CF bits for that..it looks pretty good with the aluminum though as the weave is so silverly (sp?)

Final update for today.   Will do the rest of the electronics tomorrow.  :D

I stripped down the DF03 to try and find why it’s was making such an awful noise. The culprit turned out to be a shim bashing around the rear gearbox. Noticed a broken front shock so swapped that out as well. Finally messed about with the stance just because. DC2F1484-AFB5-4613-99FA-C22054C69962.jpeg.a9314a4a535e8943bf5505d8c47f6b47.jpeg

Got my XV-01 Delta finished. Although I've decided it needs an interior, so a rally car cockpit is on its way and so I guess it's now un-finished again...!! And then I just need the sun to come out for some better photos...

@Nick-W Wow, good thing you found the culprit.  That almost looks like my metal ruler that got too close to my bare battery packs!

Car is looking good!

@AJB123 That is a beautiful blue!  Nice choice in color and finish.  Car looks fantastic.  I would be tempted to just do a smoke spray and go without an interior.. I mean, for me I am never going to be able to paint like some of the gorgeous painters here on this site.., who am I kidding.  :D  GL with whatever you decide.

Thanks! It's PS-59, backed with white, then the lower half backed with black over the white. Kind of inspired by a metallic dark blue real one that I saw parked up on the street a few years back, which just looked so good!
For sure, I am never going to be able to do an amazing job on an interior... But then I get the feeling I could easily mess up doing the smoked windows too, and that'd be even more annoying and un-fixable! (I've only ever built buggies or a Honda City Turbo before, so never smoked windows). Plus I don't want to the windows too dark, and I hate seeing the ground though the car, so I think I'll be happier with it with an interior. And the Tamiyas of my youth always had drivers!

@AJB123 That Delta looks beautiful in blue. Almost to nice to run it. Great work!

Thanks! The plan is to run it, at least a bit, but right now I REALLY don't want to roll it, so I'm holding off running it other than a quick test around the lounge!

Stripped my DT03. Will wait for the new chassis parts to arrive. Pretty much broke the whole front chassis off (was hanging on by a corner), I see how this is a common occurrence and easy to do.
