It seems the Egress black edition might be less popular than anticipated as two hobby stores here in Melbourne have called me multiple times to say they have kits available. I said I would pass but one of stores called back and asked if I wanted to pay a deposit so I could sleep on it over the weekend!

It certainly tested my resolve but I’m still saying no. I did say yes to this little reno project though ;) Another to add to the “to-do” pile 🤣

Kudos.👌

@Re-Bugged I agree with Yoshimitsu.   Everything looks fantastic and on top of that, the red ring on the wheel really adds a nice accent.  I keep staring at your photo of perfection!

It's great motivation for me to work on mine (now in secret because I don't want to show mine if it turns out like crap  haha)..  you remember what happened to my red Alfa photo after seeing yours.. silently removed from site in embarrassment.

Great job once again.  B)

Besides getting it at Tower in the USA, it is a pricy kit and I think only folks that have a collector’s passion for the Egress would want it.  Not that it’s a bad thing, but it is merely just a livery change.

I just want it as a part of my collection as I like the shape of the car and want to have that part of Tamiya’s history.

And it’s starting to look like my Black edition is going to run brushless this time..

So for me today, got off my lazy butt and waterless washed my daily driver.  Looks good again.. I can't believe my car is already going to be 5 years old next year, time flies.  I think I got like 17k miles on the odo.. the pandemic really slowed down usage as I had a FiestaST as like my secondary daily driver back then as well.

Anyway, I need to run a few errands this morning and then will proceed with the garage wash basin for Willy.  Last night I got side tracked by RC electronics purchases taking advantage of early BlackFriday sales.  :D  I think I got everything I need until Fall 2023.. next up is figuring out what shelves to get for the pretend RC shop expansion.

Yep. Like I posted previously I was very tempted but I just can’t justify it given the list of cars I want and the limited time I have to actually build!

Brushless will be good. I run 13.5 sensored brushless on mine and it’s great. Could probably go to 10T but I don’t want to stress the beauty too much!

Either way I look forward to your build.

Almost finished this, my MF01x Jurassic Park 1:12 Jeep.

I need a proper bumper and a few accessories, but it's looking good. I mean not compared to @Re-Bugged's Beetle, but we are all on a different journey.

I have finished the soldering and tidied up the electronics in the XV-01. Next up is to place the foams in the battery compartment and wait for the extreme rain to stop, then it is testing B)

Not sure if you can visualize what this stainless wash basin would look like, but this is how far I got this afternoon.

Going to make the drain and legs next.  :D

I decided to paint my Subaru body before building the xv01 it will live on, not going with box art and realized I don’t have any tape to do nice lines or make taping easier. So I just covered it all with 1.5 in masking tape and figured I’ll just cut out the lines and shapes, not going too crazy so should be ok ,  got the first color all taped off and this train wreck is ready to get started! ...then I found out I forgot to buy all the paint colors I need  Tomorrow’s turkey day and my goal is to have it done with paint by tomorrow night, soo looks like I’ll be experimenting with the colors I do have lol

For me, this evening I did a quick check to make sure I still had an Avante driver and high torque servo saver for my upcoming Egress Black build.. and I do.    .. I just need the store to ship me mine already..

Electronics is going to be the same as my regular rere Egress with 1252MG, 1060, SuperStockBZ (unless it comes with a motor), SR215.

Sucks that I need to still cut and paint the body...I was hoping they would do all that since it's a special BLACK kit.. what other color am I going to paint it?  Battleship red?

Well..  I just finished building my Avante Black Special and I'm thinking about painting it another color other than.. black.

Ordered servo saver horns for the juggernaut, and a 4WD middle gearbox for a nitro to electric conversation that I want to do on a HPI Prime 12 chassis. With brushless and Lipo, nitro is no longer necessary and much quieter and less messy.

Still waiting on a package from the UK, but it's sitting at customs for 3 weeks now. Brexit issues I guess. :P

Thanksgiving day and here I am tearing around the backyard with a Terra Scorcher.

Terra2 terra3

I bought this a little while back when I shouldn't have. I've been closing in on critical mass when it comes to my collection size and tried not to buy anything this past year except the forever backordered Optima Mid. But...I hit a rough patch. Work was up to its old tricks, pushing us harder and harder for more output. Placing cameras around the shop trained on everyone didn't help. Conversations longer than 45 seconds (timed, mind you) were considered questionable and thus had to be proven to be work-related. Violators and perceived time-wasters were hauled off for "re-education" in productivity. Fun stuff. Hence the Terra Scorcher proved to be an excellent form or retail therapy. Since my Optima Mid pre-order wasn't quick enough evidently to be in the first shipment, I decided to get what might have been the Tamiya competition at the time. It did the trick. I anticipated its arrival, had a blast putting it together and all-around felt better. Thanks Tamiya. It worked so well, that when the Mid finally showed up recently, it just sat in  the box, the ol' T-Scorcher having quenched my build thirst for the time being.

Happy Thanksgiving!  :D

So for me, I found out early am that customs has a problem releasing my Egress shipment mainly due to store improperly submitting customs documents.. it is stuck in customs.  Story of my life man, this order has been doomed from the beginning.   No worries though, I’ll figure it out even if it takes ordering additional units from another vendor.

So EWH technologies in full effect today, just evidence I am too stupid to figure this out mathematically.. but it’s okay, I’ve lived this long, I found my survival skill.

Wish me hope..

Update.. okay so I got a hold of customs through FedEx and it looks like they were able to clear my Egress with additional docs I provided.   Special thanks to FedEx.  B)   I’m like what the heck, but I am glad to see the updated delivery ETA to tomorrow to my house.. wish me hope..

Speaking of hope.. here is where I am at right now..  next up, making a J-bend..

Thanks, but its just par for the course. I questioned my superior about how bad the optics looked from the shop floor employees' perspective to which he agreed. Sure enough, in the next meeting, management tried to spin the cameras as good thing to merely aid us in our productivity levels, devoid of sinister intent. I don't think folks bought into that. What's important is the Terra Scorcher is awesome, lol.

I took my Jeep to the park. The 45T motor seems a little slow compared to the 35T (which itself seemed too fast), I'm surprised there is such a difference between them. I'll probably just use the 35T and drop the forward end point down. Doing EPA vs DR allows full backwards speed, which is can be handy as the ESC drops this to 50% and sometimes in grass you need a little power to reverse out of a situation.

I also tried it with the sand paddle tires. It'll never be a crawler but with these 82 mm tires it eats up dirt and grass really nicely. Even pretty tall thick grass gets ploughed through, and with a 13T gearing the motor stays cool.
