The past 2 weeks were Juggernaut only. Thankfully this car is a cheap used car that is far from original to begin with, so modding it to my personal plan is no problem.

Converted the axels and center gearbox to ball bearings, always the recommended upgrade.

Mounted the axels to the chassis to get some idea on the dimensions for the axels/wheels. This Juggernaut came with a widening kit, which offsets the wheels bij about 12mm/0.5 inch.

With the look I'm going for on this car that is perfect, but I also want a larger wheelbase. So I experimented with shifting the axels  further apart.
The front axle came with 10mm longer suspension arms, and I put this in the rear position for now.
The rear axle is in the front with a temporary spacer, to shift the axle 2cm more forward, increasing total wheelbase by 3cm/1.2 inch.

With regard to wheelbase, this looks OK. The body still sits too high for my taste, so shorter (or higher mounted on chassis) shocks are next on the list.

Looks good to me!  The "Anytime Baby!" might work angled on the roof, or maybe the hood?

Gave it a try.  Font size is too big going from a buggy wing to a M-Chassis.  If only it was 10% to 15% smaller. Will install the other decals first and see how I feel about the “Anytime Baby!”

Maybe some custom stickers from MCI @Frankster? You can reduce the scale of the standard ones.

I like it with the lettering on the rear window, can imagine a racing stripe across the bonnet and roof in the side stripe colours.

I did a version for my pearl black Hornet with silvers and greys that looked quite nice.

wife said no to “anytime baby!”… may not end up using this decal at all

Look great, man! Maybe you can try to reason with your wife and keep the "anytime baby"... it is almost essential for a Hornet vibe 😄

Cool idea anyway 👌

Not today but two days ago  I ran the Manta Ray and enjoyed the freshy rebuilt rear shocks, they were due for some maintenance, nice and supple now. I had a couple close calls! Went too long on a turn and almost ended up in the water... almost! That's where the car stopped 😅

20221205-163304.jpg

Soon after, I distractedly ran over some ice that was way too thin even for the car. Fortunately it held, long enuff to snap a photo even, but the risk was quite unnecessary! 20221205-163555.jpg

Got away with it though, so good times!

Yesterday evening I went for the slushiest, splotchiest run ever with the Big Boss. It was raining over fresh snow, so it just kept packing up!20221206-153706-013-01.jpg

I could get MCI decals but want to do this car on a budget.  Also the body is not Tamiya, so no point in splurging on a knock off.

Share photos of your Hornet please 🤗

Will give it a try on the back windows as it is not as obvious as the roof.  I can always remove decal if wife is not happy 😬

@Ferruz I won’t be doing action jumps like your Hornet 🐝 😂

Done with the Durga. I wanted a color scheme that can work with both black and white-colored wheels. After taking these pics I only realized I forgot to use the body pins but doesn't matter, the velcro hold on very well

More pics in the gallery thread but here's where I put the on/off switch, hopefully the adhesive stays

Other quick mod I did after last time was cutting some parts of the wing that keep banging into shock tower

I've ordered a NIB DF-03 Avante Mk2 for Christmas from an ebay seller in Japan for £148 including postage (assume i'll get hit with customs charges).

Got a Super Stock BZ (not into BL yet), heatsink bars, steel mainshaft gear and steel 1-piece rear diff outdrives coming too.

I know many don't like the Avante Mk2 due it not being true to the Avante ethos, but I looked at it and wanted it instantly.

Currently have a TT02 and TT02 Type S, so this will be quite different.

@Elbowloh That DF03 Avante looks good.  I do not plan to get one as I'm only chasing vintage rere's, but if I was to put one together, I would get some high caps and those gold Avante alloys (with cams) and Avante tires.  It would definitely turn heads, I think.  B)

So for me, taking a break from RC and plasticard projects and just heading to the office for my money making gig.  I hope no one from my team is there today so that I can just turn around and come home early.    ..wish me hope.

Tomorrow (3 day weekend starts) I will do a quick quarterly inspection on my LiPo storage voltages and then work on swapping that top deck on the Javelin.  This weekend I plan to cut and spray the Egress body and if my Avante driver arrives, will paint that too and install the driver with fresh silver body over the weekend.  :D

Mocked up other decals for the hood.  Unfortunately the stock decals are not long enough

Another approach by cutting the portion under the “Hornet”

both don’t quite do it for me

Is UK Royal mail undergoing a strike?  My package purchased early NOV is still yet to leave your country.

I thought USPS was bad.. ouch.. wish me hope please.   lol.

So I am ahead of schedule and inspected the lipo's this afternoon.  There was one cell that was 3.78v so that one will probably require storage recharge maybe not next inspection in March, but in June.  Otherwise all other packs were stable between 3.80v and 3.84v.  :D

I store them in a dark dry secluded section in my basement's warehouse area in a fire safe bag placed inside a fire can.. so in a way it is kind of a pain to inspect them..but glad that is over for now.   I'm just going to take it easy in my pretend RC shop rest of day.  B)

Very much so. A series of days over the last couple of months. I’m waiting on a couple of domestic EBay orders that are two weeks late.
Good luck with it. I’m sure it’ll get through eventually.

Over the last couple of days I've designed (and also downloaded) and printed some parts for my TD4. I've changed the layout of the cars to a transverse shorty Lipo battery and made new radio plate and a bracket to stop the battery from sliding forward. Nothing too complicated but for the plate I need three versions until I was satisfied. The battery door and posts are from Thingiverse. I think I will print them again with different parameters to achieve a better surface. But for now I'm happy.

I’ve got a parcel from MCI, actually probably only a stiff envelope as it’s 1/24 scale stickers, that arrived in the UK on 20/11. It took 4 days to get to my local distribution centre ie 24/11. Its status remained the same until 1/12 when it changed to item received which then says parcel is being prepared to ship overseas!!! I have no idea what is going on. The average wait time to contact by phone is 60-120 minutes!!! I’ve tried to contact MCI to see if they can help but frankly I’ve lost patience with them as they never seem to respond. Suppose I’ll just have to accept the whole project as lost. Waste of about £25…..

@Busdriver Don’t give up hope yet, mines not quite as bad yet! AliExpress order of 1060’s and a new GT5 controller for the little one! It would appear to have arrived in Essex on the 1st of December and has been sitting there ever since, it’s quicker to travel from China to the UK than it is to travel 15 miles from the main sorting office to the local one!

I can only see this getting worse in the run up to Christmas, time to avoid RM like the plague!

I’ve had parcels with RM show the same tracking info as your being prepared again, I think all the RM systems are bit dodgy!

@Busdriver @Nwc100 global shipping is at an all time low, esp with government mail system.  Prices are high and delivery times long

This is where I start another project while waiting for parts for my current project 🤦‍♂️

Most decals applied.  Will leave the roof blank for now. Having funwith “Anytime Baby!” as it complete the Hornet look 😅.  Will remove decal if I get tired of the look.

Considering options for the front hood / bonnet and then trim the posts and attach the driver

Thanks, oh well.. guess I will need to wait then.  I was about to place another order to UK, but decided to pay the premium and buy elsewhere.. basically wanted to get more window nets for HotShot to use on my Javelin.  Not a big deal.
