Speaking of M-chassis, I should build this too.. it's been sitting in my closet for a long while..

Its a competiton level dual CF deck belt drive 4WD considered to be at or near the TOPRacing m-chassis.  I have Tamiya Cooper bodies for it, but stalled ever since my last hiatus from RC..   mainly because I had to switch my make shift track and the EVA foam was too new the tires would not grip well.. but I think I'm going to give it another try once I finish the 420X and if my m-chassis runs well now that the foam is well broken in, I will check out the M08-R limited in more detail.

Lucky you, i wish I bought one when i had the chance. Tried everywhere to get one of them a while back. Wanted the 500 for my M07 and the 1000 for an M08.

One came up on here a while ago and I bought it as my wife loves old 500s (I know it is a 600 but it is the closest she would get).

It is too nice for me to cut out (badly, knowing me), paint and sticker up and then have it sit in my damp and draughty garage. I have been campaigning for a new garage but at the rate we are going we'll end up moving house before that happens!

@Willy iine see above - fantastic chassis will likely receive a cheap and cheerful body until garage facilities improve.

Nice. :D    Is the chassis itself adjustable wheelbase?  If not is it a 225?.   TIA.

Edit:  never mind I downloaded the manual. It can do 210, 225, 239.  Very versatile.   I should get another Beetle body and get this chassis too down the road.

I wondered whether this chassis has a sweet spot @Willy iine, if it is 225mm then I have the Escort body from my MF-01X as the the 4WD chassis is due a Monster Swift body. Actually, I could just go for the Escort as it is pre-painted!

Right, off to find that BA livery....

Yeah that Escort body looks good.. as shown per @Yoshimitsu     :D  I’m going to first finish the M06 Beetle my wife bought me and take it from there.

For me today, going to install these electronics onto the 420X.  I will be running my Futaba radio since on road.  B)

Update.. passed bench test and did a quick initial setup to make the sides even.  If I decide to run LiPo I will re-balance it, but for now NiMH will do.

Update.. Test drive also passed.. even with the spool the car can turn pretty well.. I suppose do more of a 3 wheel biased turn setup by reducing front droop can make it rotate even better.. but since I’m getting ball diffs anyway, will keep it as is for now.  B)

I’m going to try my Sabre Mini later today.. I think the car will drive properly now with the broken in EVA foam.  420X gripped quite well, actually.  :D

Doubt I can do as good a job as that @Willy iine but it will be an (occasional) runner rather than a shelf queen and there are some hard kerbs where I play.

BA livery ordered  - I went for the cheaper Screenprintdigital option available on the Bay of E.

I haven't been this giddy in ages!

Fortunately, it comes with a hard pinion (though I probably have a steel one in stock), drivetrain bearings (I probably have some for the hubs in stock) but maybe not a motor? Hopefully I have a new silver can in stock, I'll steal the SAVOX low profile servo I had in mind for the TD4 and I should have a new 1060 in the leccy bits box as well.

I'll have to see whether the chassis takes a standard stick pack or one of these new fangled shorty LiPo things...

Just finished the build of the TT-02 Porsche 911 RSR chassis. I've build it  stock to RWD configuration except for bearings, dampers and pinion.

I love the look of that wide rear wheels. It makes chassis looks so different to the standard wheels.

@Aerobert Looks good!  Are those kit wheels and tires or aftermarket?   I too would like to get staggered setup for my street version SandScorcher..

My 420X will run the NBR STI body so non-staggered is fine.

 Very nice!  Congrats. :D    This car is so exciting to look at.

Thanks, they are a piece of work aren’t they 😃 It will be in pride of place for quite a while I think.

Stunning. I love that you powered up the lights too.

Thank you. I was in two minds about the lights, having to drill a hole on the side of the body and seeing exposed wires. But now it’s all done there’s so much going on visually that the hole and wires pale into insignificance, especially when it’s lit up.

I reckon those are the Tamiya Fuchs wheels that come in the kit and are annoyingly expensive on their own (so speaks the man who's bought the shell to fit on something else and is convinced it can never be right without those wheels!). They are available on Tamico for a sensible price, but only if you also take advantage of a killer deal on an M-08R (and possibly a TT-02SR as well) to soak up the punitive postage. Now, where was I...

So another semi serious question - what tyres for the wide (30mm?) rears? I'm drawing a bit of a blank there.

If it’s any help @TurnipJF always smashes my 210mm with his 225mm set up in Racing by Post 🤣. The Escort would be great on it.

The Battery compartment will take a stick pack or a full length square job to, which is what I run in mine. I haven’t tried a Shorty in there yet.

Are you sure it isn't down to his 13.5T motor @Re-Bugged:D

That's me sorted then - the easy way out with a part trimmed and painted Escort body and some third party stickers :D. At least I won't pull my normal trick of building a chassis and then waiting months until I get a day off and decent weather to paint.

Though Mrs BC might not be too pleased to see the livery this weekend after going back to long haul for the first time in 10 years :(. Perhaps I was a bit hasty with the eBay clicking...

Looks like I'll be putting my first ever LiPo in a Tamiya with my shorty 2S pack...

My order from RCMart turned up last night, with 4 items, for 2 different Mini Z 4x4 4Runners.

Grey 4Runner (a shelf queen that never gets driven, and is really only kept around for emergency spare parts) was due to get a Kyosho light set (went in perfectly) and some Yeah Racing 7mm hub adapters to run larger wheels. Small problem, the inner screws for the larger beadlock wheels interfere with the hub, so the wheels can't rotate! So, moving on to...

Red 4Runner (which has been seen on this page many times), was due to receive a new Yeah Racing aluminium steering link, and Xtra Speed alloy front axle casing. All was going well (the steering link is a lovely bit of kit) until I needed a sub 1.5mm hex key. This means that this is now on hold until I can swing past Bunnings and get a micro hex kit (1.27mm, 0.9mm and 0.7mm). I assume one of these is the size I'll need, but of course nowhere, not even in Kyosho's manual, does it say what size hex you need to remove steering links. I even got so desperate I looked up the genuine (and very pricey) Kyosho Mini Z tool set, and that only goes down to a 1.5mm hex... what the heck??!!?

All in all a very frustrating evening.

FINALLY got around to taking a few "glamour" shots of this old thing earlier. It started life as a basic Grasshopper chassis from @Bash and is now fully Hornet spec plus. I partially restickered my old Parma body which has been getting (appropriately) bashed on for a few years, but I think I might have to take it a bit easier now.

It has been parked for the last 6 months or so while I painted the wheels/tires and V8 engine, freshened up the nerf bars, and made a few adjustments to the suspension. Looking forward to driving it again! :D

So this evening I tried the Sabre Mini's on my makeshift track.  Good news is that the cars drove properly!  :D

Bad news is that the day is over.. will continue on driving my other m-chassis tomorrow.  B)

@Willy iine sounds fun! One day would love to see the makeshift track (part of the pretend RC shop). Tricky to video and drive but I'm sure you could make some styrene video rig!

Actually I was thinking about a rail (low angle) and rope way camera system (aerial shot) to make short clips for IG... it would follow the car along side and from the top.  B)

Now you're talking! When does your pretend RC shop become real and start accepting orders? ;)

Thanks. Those are the kit wheels. I've just put them on the chassis for the look. I have to take them apart again for painting.

So for me today, I'm going to try getting my WFH stuff out of the way and start the STI body for my 420X.  Makes sense as I am a WRX (19') and WRX STI (16') owner..

Wish me hope please...    small buggy bodies are okay, but polycarbonate bodies are just not my thing.    I don't enjoy doing them.  This is why I like the Kyosho RTR's.. I would rather just buy the finished bodies.

Update.. body is cut and posts postioned.  I had to use a post extender (I think it's HPI) but fits the fat posts perfectly.  Decided to use clips instead of magnets as there are many dimples Tamiya included on the body it just did not make sense to pretend it's a scale model.. because it is not.

I used 37mm radius on my circle cutter.. the arches are cleanly round.  B)

Update.. time for some black PS.  :D

Sending lots of hope @Willy iine.

Have been looking forward to seeing your results with this one. I nearly bought a body set recently, just so that I have one for one day in the future (or get someone capable to do it for me!).
