Funny thing happened to me tonight. I walked into my local pub and a chap I vaguely know said "I like your mk1 escort. I've got the Lancia. Decals are a nightmare!". My XV-01 Escort is 200 miles away. I had posted it on a mountain bike forum I'm on infrequently, and he'd linked the name to me. Maybe some old reference to local riding. Made me chuckle. His partner bought him a TT-02 for Christmas and he's loving it. So I've pointed him the way of the hairdryer and the soapy water!

I was looking at that charger. Well, SKYRC T100 which looks the same. You're pleased with it?

100% happy with it. Previously i had a cheapo charger from amazon, and it was bulky, noisy (fan was louuud). This one is so much smaller, charges 2 batteries (upto 4s lipo), and quiet. If i need another charger, i will definitely get this unless i need to charge 4s+ lipo.

@lsear2905 I bought one of these HK specials ages ago to use on my Bruiser (when I get around to building it, only had it 10yrs this year )

The issue I have is that the carbon shift gate I have wont fit over the sticks, and no matter what I’ve tried, I don't seem to be able to remove them, I thought they would just unscrew.

Do the ones on the Flysky unscrew?

I did check Hobbyking, but most of them were sold out... and I don't like dealing with Hobbyking, anyway.

I'll let you know when it arrives if they unscrew, but as I said I want pretty basic functions - up/down on both sides for the Trail King, and up/down on one side, left/right on the other for sailboats.

You wouldn't believe the odd things I've been searching for on the internet; bananas, blue shells, bombs!

For me taking a jab at drifting using a basic RWD RTR.. mainly to see whether I like this category or not.  If yes, will probably get a nice competiton Yokomo, but if not, will just dress this one up a little and move on.  I will give it 1000 rounds before I make up my mind.. this is my minimum practice cycle.

I swapped the receiver to run off my 7PXR.  I have gyro gain setup to run off ch3.. and it's setup to intervene very mildly.

IMG_2023-1-25-075637.jpg

Update.. I think I started seeing some level of control.. wish me hope please..

I tuned off gyro completely and using dual rate.. there is almost no grip with these plastic tires so locked steering does no good for me until I can get the super Dori-dori angles.  End point similar to touring car setting.. so for me, I could probably just get away running a touring chassis + drift wheels/tires.. which could open up a possibility for M08R with drift tires.. hummm..

Final update for today... after 18 rounds or so, I think I am at a point I get frustrated when I mess up my drift.. so this means I am getting better and not too hopeless.  :D   I will keep practicing this week.. and next.. and next.. and..

I also put some primer on the GF-01 racing teapot pickup shell:

@Room335  Quick question for you.. I want to get some alloys for the Fantom and was wondering which size tires I need to buy for both front and rear.  Would you please let me know?  TIA!

Here you go...I tried searching the part #'s but couldn't find any dimensions. Weird.

Kyosho EFTH005W Rear Wheel: Rim Diameter ~36mm, Tire Width ~35mm

Kyosho EFTH001W Front Wheel: Rim Diameter ~36mm, Tire Width ~23mm

I don't have calipers so consider these measurements plus/minus 1mm or so. Hope that helps!

Here's mine wearing a Tamiya disguise :P

Not just today but for the last two weeks I've designed and printed a exhaust for my Porsche Carrera RSR build. The exhaust itself is printed, the pipes are from polished aluminium tube. The design is highly inspired by the original exhaust but not perfectly scale. It still needs paint and probably some filler but I've made a test fit today. It is designed to fix it with two screws to the bumper mount.

And a follow up... I was out riding my bike in the woods tonight (the woods at night is my happy place. I'm strange, but more strangely I'm not alone in this bit of my strangeness) and I bumped into an old friend. He said "hey, your rc car looks great" or some such (also clocked on STW). That little red Escort 200 miles away is (weirdly) famous! Best get it a new dogbone so it can be AWD again.

It's getting quite scratched now. I sense I need to paint another one the same sometime. It's got an identity all of its own and I don't feel I can change that. Fancy-pants Lancia shell just going to be the wrong clothes, much as I love it. Sunday best only. Maybe XV-02 needs an escort shell as well. Hmmm.

Maybe I should do red, white and blue ones. The Dagenham Job.

So I have been planning to strip my vintage WO body and repaint it to blue same as the Blockhead. My paint remover arrived yesterday and today, I worked on it. The previous paint that was used was acrylic and was brushed (probably my friend who owned and gave me this didn't have a spray paint back in the 80s and decided to just use brush). I had to soak some parts with the solution for more than 3 minutes because the paint was too thick especially at some deep corners. Then some cracks showed up and one part just broke off. Dang!

Apparently, the paint stripper makes the polycarbonate weaker and brittle when soaked in longer periods. I learned something new here. Haha!

So I searched and found this on ebay.

@Nicadraus Ouch!  That sucks, but at least it looks like you got a fresh replacement.

For me today, shoved snow (well most of it was my snow thrower) and now need to head to the office for my money making gig.. cause it’s not like my pretend RC shop has any revenue..    Hope to practice some more drifting when I get back.

Back from lunar new year holidays and picked up an Open Calibra.  Not interested in the body but more on the chassis for my next build.

Thanks! The tank is a piece of A4 1mm plasticard rolled to shape and capped at each end with more 1mm plasticard.

Are you going to use G6-01 wheels and tyres or something less goofy?
