I finished the Beetle.   I am waiting for it to get a bit dark outside so that I can take pictures in the pretend RC shop without getting the lighting all mixed up. B)

Oh and yes, the lines were done with a Sharpie and hope..

Final Update.. I posted pictures in the gallery thread.. Please check them out if interested.  TIA!  B)
I will most likely not be able to post any more 1000 pixel photos on this forum due to attachment memory.. please check me out on Instagram  #pretendrcshop.

I "finished" the M05 CR-X. Again. Until the next time I do something to it.

And here I told myself this car was going to stay simple.

Pictures of a 1st gen CRX taken on the deck lid of a 3rd gen CRX. Haha.

Over the last week and today ive been poking at a printable version of Cog (T4-K9) https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/90067-exclusive-tamiya-t4-k9-dancing-dog/

Left is the initial version, it was a bit too large, using left over frog front tires as those had the right profile and a 540 motor, middle is the current iteration using lego tires with an insert to stretch them to the right proflie for the fronts, its got a 370 motor and a diff, rears for both are lego street tires of different sizes, and right is my dancing rider for scale.

BlendCog1.jpg.1ec08f4dfb05825f261f2f9713e5f827.jpg

The rear end is based on that from the OpenRC F1 and incorporates the diff that was remixed for it, the cylinder at the top is a repurposed tt02 pogo shock but its a bit stiff for this, ive got weaker spring coming so will design a smaller printable pogo stick and likely rework the suspension parts for them.

BlendCog1Rear.jpg.b5f180e8cbf243713f3397a953b0701c.jpg

On the fronts the spring rides on a tamiya screw pin that is the axle for the forks, allowing the fork to go up and down, i will likely design different forks again when i have the springs ive ordered in hand, possibly in the style of Girder forks as i think the telescopic variant would be hard to print.

BlendCog1FrontSpring.jpg.3d231add2669eaf0c64fab9092d54e9a.jpg

Here he is with a head im working, on shown together with @BWGunners artwork:

Here is a driving vid for the first, larger version, the second smaller one drives very much like it but steers better as it has a diff:

Fantastic work, that looks great.

Funny they went for dog, a big Gorilla would make much more sense with that proportions, dogs are cuter I guess.

Made a start on turning this box of bits into a heavily Hopped Up bespoke TT02

spacer.png

Got as far as front spool in place along with rear diff, prop shaft, high speed gear set and diff covers, all attached to the blue hard deck with titanium screws. So far the only bit that would actually have come with a Type S kit is the rear diff 😂

At what point does the "hop ups are a rip off" argument get flipped on its head because you didn't have to buy the kit at all?! 😁

I'm firmly on the 'of course they're not' side of that debate...I love the opportunity to piece together something personal 😊

Man, I feel ancient looking at these modern self designed 3D ways of playing with RC!     Only a matter of time regular households will be able to print metals too, perhaps.

So for me going to play with my new MiniZ EVO RWD later this morning.. but first, I realized I needed to Sharpie around the VW's tail light base so wil do that this am.

Update.. fixed.  also fixed the door hinge area too.  B)

Oh, me too. Not intending to reopen that debate, just kinda playing with it.

Lovely festival of blueness by the way. Are you building a car with no black plastic at all?

The lower arms, front uprights and hubs will be black plastic but I think that’s about it 😃

With the forward progression of age, the inverse progression of eyesight is becoming apparent. B)

Came across some cheap LED lighting a few weeks ago and got around to mounting them to the work area.

Very nice @Ray_ve  !  Pretty soon you may end up lighting up under the desk too for when bits fall on the floor.

That’s what a head torch is for!!!

That, sir, is one steady hand.

It's a method I intend to try but my sharpie lines will probably look like Mr Tickle.

The Junfac bits really do lift the model above stock spec, in terms of both looks and performance. 👍

First time being at the track!

TT-02B handled the track like a champ. Jumps really well! Also my M05 run also was fun at onroad track. (I can see tires wearing out… glad i have couple sets ready)

No casualties today though i thought i stripped tt-02b spur which ended up being lose motor mount screw (all gears are good!)

Thanks.  Actually it's not as difficult as it may seem.   I hold the pen uphigh and just gently push the Sharpie as it follows the groove.

I also used those super fine tip Tamiya swabs and dab of motor spray to erase any mistakes or Sharpie lift points to fine tune any rough lines.  For dark lines I did like 3-4 passes, for light lines 1-2 passes.  Any mistake can be removed using motor spray so it's like one can test the area and if they don't like it, just wipe off completely.

So for me, test drove my new EVO RWD and quickly realized that the rear did not grip well.. swapped the rear tires to some meaty LM 30's and noticed now the rear hops during hard turns.  So loosened the ball diff and swapped the T-Bar to CF .. now the car is planted.  B)  I love this little machine.  :D

Honestly at this level of stability, does not need to be AWD.

Today, and yesterday, I designed a thing.

It's only a small and simple thing, but it's my first thing. I also did some swearing at Fusion360, which I've never used before. I would probably have been better off with simpler software but I've done some learning.

I've no idea whether it'll print OK. And if it does, whether it'll fit OK, and if it does that, whether it'll break. It's a body post for M-08 with the holes facing front to back, as suggested by @Frankster will hopefully enable fitting my Dino body shell. Slightly annoyingly, I didn't measure the desired height, or I could've done only the necessary pin holes and a neat top.

IMG-20230209-WA0007

Edit: not "designed", obvs, just modelled it.

And my thing is now an actual real world thing. Basic but not terrible for a first attempt I think.

20230211_230252

Should be functional, anyway. Would perhaps have been better printed flipped 90° for both strength and so that its base isn't also where all the support/waste is and needs manual cutting. If I do more I think I'll try that.
