1st proper post in forever 🤦

Cleaned up the TS today and listed it.

Taking the photos made me think it looks like a poor mans Avante - not a slight on either model just a notion 😊

Hope everyone is doing well 👏

Car looks great, Grumpy pants!  Good to see you back.  :D

Cut the body and put cc-02 wheels and tires on my mf-01x. Really like the look and much better offroad capability. Cant wait to try out tomorrow

That's cool!   A member on IG made a shortened CC02 and mounted a comical FJ40 (GF01) body on it.  It looks fantastic.

3D drew a new hinge for the Jugger's bed. The printer is running now so check if the fit is correct this evening.

Edit:

The hinge fits, but needs some small adjustments. Forgot to compensate an offset.
Happy with this, one step closer to a finished jugger again.

Sad day:(! Said goodbye to a stalwart of my collection it was with me even when I sold off all my collection about a decade ago when I lost all my mojo in my rc's it was the one I kept! But things change and my collection is going a different direction and it had to go together with other rc parafinalia that hasn't seen the light of day for years to make more room!

Please keep me posted which stores you decide to go.  My work has been talking about sending me to Japan next fiscal year (starts April) for on-site money making gigs (strategic meetings) since Covid has settled somewhat.  I am trying to get out of it as much as I can.  I hate traveling, I hate being in crowded space, I hate meeting people.. I wish to remain hidden under a rock..  but I am interested in checking out hobby shops.     Might even be a good son and check out how my mom and pops are doing.

My work HQ's HQ (investment firm) is located in downtown Tokyo..  It doesn't help that I am apparently good at what I do.. performance review last week scored me at one of the top performers for our business unit..  really?  I only worked where I thought they needed my help.  It wasn't like I exerted all my power.. plus, I thought one need a brain to have strategy?  You folks have seen my design capability right?..   How can this be someone with brains..

Will do! Currently I will definitely visit tamiya store/super rajicon/kyosho store…

Business travel to Japan sounds cool! I will probably have less chance of going to biz trip out side US, but would love to do that for over seas. Covid made me realized that when you get a chance to do something, just do it (buying stuff, visiting family etc.. who knows whats going to happen in the future).

Also you would know much better than me, but having more impactful work > working lots of hours (it will of course depend on job functions.. though).

I had a blast ! Except there is one issue… motor overheating after 5min or so of running which I was kind of expecting due to larger tires.. Current set up is 16t pinion (lowest for mf-01x i think?) with torque tuned motor. I would assume only way to fix is to use higher turn motor which i dont mind… any recommendations?

Only work trips I've managed to wangle have been to Belfast and Dublin. Was trying to get posted to Canada in a previous job but never materialised.

A trip to Japan would be great. I'd actually love to get posted abroad for a year or two, Canada, NZ, Australia would suit me down to the ground.

I've stuck a 13T pinion in mine. I reckon a 12T might be possible with a small mod.

I've also run 83 mm tires and 16T pinion no issues but that was on dirt, it might be the snow is causing real issues here too?

Wow I did not know you can put smaller pinions than 16t. I may try to get 13/14. I agree that wet snow also contributed to higher load. (It was so fun on the snow until it slowed down due to overheating.)

Yeah, I too would visit at least the Tamiya and Kyosho stores.  Blockhead Motors is a bit towards Narita so not sure whether I would visit them as Chiba can be a haul from Tokyo depending on allowed time.  I would fly into Haneda as the office building is only like 20-25 min away..

Agreed that we only live once, so enjoy whatever it is while we can!   I do try to present the most effective solutions in the shortest amount of time possible at work as I want to concentrate more time and effort on my RC and my other hobbies.   B)

Oh nice! I will probably skip BHM since it is bit away from where I want to stay. (Trip is not just for me lol). However, I plan to visit some rc stores in osaka area too.

Had an afternoon of fiddling with one of my MF-01X builds.

A completely pointless addition of blue stuff which required much head-scratching and some non-standard parts, but was the end result worth it?PXL_20230226_162154253.thumb.jpg.6034bbfd6205e0c55e22f9adef591bd0.jpg

Spend all afternoon on tinkering with the Monster Racers because both our boys, 3 and 6 years old now, were driving their skelters and didn't need our attention.

What a blessing!

We call them "skelters" in Dutch, no idea how they are called in English...

Oh man, I would have loved to have something like that as a kid!  Does that actually have a functioning differential in the back?

Yes, it has. And it has what they call the BFR-system for Brake, Freewheel en Reverse. And a swing arm at the front. Very clever.

The other one is basically the same, just more plastics they can break ;).
