I want to use a 4 channel system on the Jugger to control Speed, Steering, Switch between 2 wheel and 4 wheel steering, and control lights.

Been working on a circuit to capture the output of a 4 channel receiver (test first with 3 channels as I only have those).

8Iwxvsl.jpg

When the processor captures all the channel information, I can use that data for the various functions. It's only a matter of programming from that point on...

Edit:

Ok so far so good.

The ESC needed its channel switch in reverse to operate correctly.  The processor now reverses this channel so the channel switch can be set to normal.

The steering needed the front sero reversed, so the processor reverses that channel and leaves the rear servo as-is. That works well.
The Ch3 pushbutton can alternate steering mode between either 4 wheel steering, or 2 wheel front steering. Nice!

Happy with this so far, and ordered a new radio as Austar 6-channel radio/reciever combos are half price at aliexpress today.

To do: Normal lights (easy on/off), and brake lights! (less easy??).

1BD2EEB5-6B2C-446A-8947-EA70906E6E0B.jpg Getting the Pumpkinhead ready for paint. Lots of sanding filling priming, sanding filling priming, etc. you get the picture. Hopefully should be able to get a couple of decent coats of final primer on it by the end of tomorrow.

On a slightly different note if anybody is wondering whether Pumpkin and I presume Lunchbox bodies seem to last for  so long it’s because they are tough, really tough. I ended up using a fine tooth wood tenon saw to separate the cab from the beds !!!!!

Had one of those rare bad days in the hobby today. Didn’t notice I had plugged the bullet connectors backwards on the battery. When I plugged the XT90 connectors together the esc started smoking and de-soldered both battery wires from the esc and the esc side of the XT90. Tried to resolder everything but no dice. No throttle and the esc was heating up. R.I.P. Hobbywing Xerun 120a V3 :(

Sorry to read this :( The latest XR10's are claimed to be protected against reverse connection. I have painted the + embossed circle bright red on my batteries but event then, sometimes I feel it is a matter of time until I reverse it too!

Sad news…. 2 of my cars were having steering issues.. i realized both servo saver’s adaptor are all mushed up. Turns out some of hitec servos are 24t spline.. some others are not. 4 of my cars are all using that + have several more of nib servos… Luckily i was able to order kimborough servo savers and some 25t servos… ha..

I've got those kimborough servo savers in my Schumacher's and they are brilliant for the money £5 each and I don't know if it's good quality plastic but on the face of it they just look as normal as any other but they seem to be a lot stronger?

Started to pull my TB01 apart for a thorough clean. Test fitted all the electrics beforehand and it lives!

I took my QD to the park and tested the new wheelie bar.

On the lower gear it will wheelie with ease and with the new bar hold wheelie much longer. Still need a slight redesign but working as well as I could have hoped for a home made prototype.

Did think about that but not sure. I’ve just given it a coat of Red primer so I might over spay it and rub it back and create a Rat Rod style. Originally I was going to do a custom style black and metallic green scheme but thinking about it this was going to be a rag around car so maybe a good paint job is silly!!

Spend the afternoon at the club with few people interested by CAD. I showed them how to use Fusion 360 and explained them how to model
- a simplified touring rim
HRSA8fI.png
- a simplified Tamiya TT01 rear hub carrier with 2 degrees angle...

I tried to explain them the good basis, so they go thru a good start for this. At the end, they were speaking about 3D printing and trying to get other small advise. A very good afternoon totally related to RC :-)

Tamiya Junkies track day at Robin Hood Raceway. Was still a bit parky, so mostly ran inside in the barn. Took a bit of video because I really liked the CC02 Bronco running

Ran lots of buggies. Broke some stuff. Was fun.

Installed a new motor and ESC combo in my Hotshot Re-Re.

Hobbywing Quicrun 10BL120 ESC + 3650 8.5T motor. Running it sensorless to avoid potential headaches down the line.

Also “rebuilt” my TL-01 Stadium Raider. Added in new electronics, plus swapped the stock (rare) tires for a pair of Rock Blocks.

((Looking to sell the swapped out tires and rims. Rims are rare. Slightly used, have some curb rash. PM if interested.))

Did the carbon fiber side panel for the chassis of the WO. I will bolt this using M2 hex screws which I already purchased.

How did you cut the carbon? I'm gonna make some carbon gearbox sides for a Frog gearbox to mount in my Wild One...

Finally slid the box lid off my Optima Mid kit. I was beginning to wonder if I ever would (this year at least). Its not like me to leave kits sitting around after they arrive but I've done this twice now. It was nice getting an instant reminder of the supreme quality of these Kyosho kits. Now, if only they were more readily available...

Out to a small RC track.  Brought my son and we met up with another family.  My son drive his stock TT-02B.  I drive the Sponge Bob Square Pants TA-02 and Mini Street Hornet M-05.

Bob had drift tires and it was hopeless first time out.  Car was not drifting how I imagined.  Swapped the green drift wheels with a friends TT-02SR tires and it was night / day.  Cheapo US$9 servo with a stock silver can managed a few good laps until the battery drained.  Drive was stable but on turns the inside rear wheel would lift due to the weight of the body and high center of gravity. I don’t think there is an anti-roll bar for the TA-02 and I may need stiffer springs in the front to compensate.   Overall a joy as I had a small Bluetooth speaker playing Sponge Bob theme song on auto loop. I got hit a few times but the kid grade toy body was designed to withstand abuse from kids.

Mini Street Hornet 🐝 did not do as well.  Something wrong with the diff, causing it to shimmy left and right.  Or it could be the cheap servo saver and I need to use a fixed servo horn.
