Made a TurboScorpion poster for Collin's shop.. it's actually a cover for an ugly wall socket..

Was have breakfast this morning and saw this in the table. So got to thinking, can I make it RC? Metal shell.

Just measured it 175mm wheelbase.

Just checked, WR02 is 172mm.

Any other options for chassis?

That would be a cool project. The GF-01, GF-01CB and GF-01TR all have 174mm wheelbase. Plus, they are 4WD.

Looking at the open front & back wheel arches of that Tonka, perhaps it would still look great with a chassis slightly longer than 175mm.

The WR-02C is 185mm. A MF-01X with the smallest spacer only sits at 186mm (you'll need to cut a custom propeller shaft to make it 4WD, otherwise you can disable the front hand have it RWD).

@OoALEJOoO has covered it perfectly, the GF01 would be great. You can flip the rear arm for a longer wheelbase.

I have designed a 10mm modular spacer for the MF01x to allow for 181 mm a wheelbase too, if you can 3D print.

This is almost exactly the same wheelbase as a few of my Taiyo builds so I try to get some photos.

finally finished off my Durga.

Chassis wise I got it finished a while back, but I've been stuck on the body. I really wanted a TRF Satoshi Maezumi style paint job, but I know the limit of my skill set, and what I had pictured in my head exceeded what my hands could produce.

Eventually I found someone who looked like they could do what I was after, and so the body was posted and a few months later I got sent some pictures tagged with "what do you think?"

image4

I think you can guess my reaction.... :wub::wub:

So I'm going to do a shameless plug here - the guy is on facebook as AttackRC and instagram as Attack_RC and he is a genius with an airbrush. I have heard it myself so many times that "photographs don't do it justice" but it really is true in this case. The amount of detail is incredible and the quality is exceptional. I really couldn't recommend his work enough.

Anyway, once they came back I raced to get everything cut out and mounted. I was like a 100kg 5 year old with a box full of Haribo and Lego. :) I'd managed to get a set of TRF stickers ready in waiting and supplemented these with a few other manufacturer stickers from the components I've fitted. I might change a couple of those as the quality of them isn't up to Tamiya standard, but otherwise I am as happy as a happy thing in happy land on a special holiday.

I'll do a new showroom entry for this as the spec has changed so much with things being swapped out and replaced, but all in all I reckon this is just about my perfect Durga :)

Ooh, so pretty! But now you have to buy a second body as the runner so that amazing paint job never gets damaged :)

Great work! Looks like you had lots of fun.

Yes we did. Especially for many of us who have not raced in a while. My daughter won 3rd place in the novice class using the FF-03RR. While I ended being 10th on the pro open class. The battle was too tight. My car (XV-01) drove like a charm and the suspension set up was nearly perfect. But I had to may errors hitting the green saucers in the inside. Each saucer cost 1 sec additional to the total time.

But I didn't think about that much. I was really after the fun. :)

Have you tried rubber bands to hold the tires in place? I like to use them, not sure if it makes really a difference

The rubber bands do a good job of keeping the rubber tire pressed up evenly against the rim, so from a strength/performance aspect they work well.  What they do NOT do is make it any harder for me to spill CA all over the place making it look like junk anyway.

Thanks!  No the kit included the illustrations on the decal sheet so I just arranged it to my preference.  :D

It took me a few tires sets and a couple of years to evolve a good technique.

While this doesn't fit the "what have you done" topic, I always wondered why the on and off road RC car industry doesn't use bead lock type wheels?   If you need to keep a tire on a rim but at the same time very well may wear out the tire, wouldn't it be better to "clamp" the tire on there so you can reuse the wheel and no hassles/mess of gluing on the tires?   The RC rock crawlers have adapted to this years ago with most aftermarket wheels and even some stock ARFs.   My second car kit  (Sand Scorcher) when I got back into this hobby had bead locks so I thought that maybe this was the norm on this side too.

Guess I was wrong..... :(

I'm sure that cost, weight, and complexity are the three answers, but personally I would gladly live with all 3 of those to have beadlocks on everything.

Now someone can chime in about how "real" cars don't typically run beadlocks...

So what have you done today?

This Mercedes TL-01 was released on 17th Nov 2000. Nearly 23 years ago…….

This car is completely stock. Today I charged a NIMH up, put some AAs in the old school AcomsTechniplus. Had to re set the Servo Horn for the throttle servo. And……

I adore Tamiya Hop Ups, especially TRF stuff. I bought these shocks for my Subaru TL-01, theyre worth more than the car to be fair but hey. Theyre gorgeous.

I do not see gluing tires as a big ''issue''.

Practice makes perfect. ^_^

I am playing with my S18 Buggy, trying an 2435 8200kv, to see if it will work. Also instaled is the Traxxas 2mm pinion I got in the mail last week.

So what have you done today?

Over the weekend I added the glass shelves between the book cases in my home office as well as the four tier glass shelf in the corner.   Had to get creative.  Too many RCs!   Have few more to find room for too.

Many people have been fired over that!   LOL.

(Had a friend that use to service business printers/copiers.   He even wore the white dress shirt and tie when he did it.  He was convinced this was the number one reason the glass platen got smashed on a printer!   :o  )

Finished off my BH hotshot didn't put the racing numbers on they make it look to odd for my liking! (And I'm being polite!) Also didn't go boxart with the decals and I might put the spotlights on when I've decided wether I like them or not^_^! The original hotshot cadge did fit on really well after a bit of fettling with the front and one of the side bars cutting the guide clips off because the blockhead chassis does have the holes for them!  I still say the hotshot family of buggies have noisy gearboxes and this is no different but then it is a 30+year design!

Haven't done much rc of late, but these tooth-like polycarbonate dust covers were annoying me on the Mammoth, so I gave them a trim up.

Took the crew compartmen/middle body section off the printer and removed supports firsr thing after i woke up this morning.

HHaJht3.jpg

Ive figured out that im at least going to separate the seat backs for separate printing, broke one when removing supports.

Probably separating out the whole seats (cusion+back) to completely remove the need for supporting that section.

Other than that it turned out really good.

Started printing the front section before heading to work, unless it has any issues ill be taking it off the printer tomorrow morning.

Im a little surprised that this half a decade old, noname diy kit i3 printer is still serving so well, fans could do with replacing due to being noisy and it clicks and squeaks every now but has done two 15+ hour prints in two days without a single issue.
