Attacked an old DT-01 chassis for a proof-of-concept LiPo installation before I do it on my newly acquired Mad Fighter basher. Easy bit of fettling that I don't think weakened the chassis (took 0.5mm off the inside of the uprights and cut down the rib across the tub to about 2cm tall). Receiver will sit under the battery and the waterproof ESC will be mounted where the original battery pack would have protruded from the chassis. Will probably use a bar between the two screw holes on either side to restrain the LiPo. Battery is central and low, so we'll see how it goes.

Ruined a perfectly good bodyshell because reaming holes for body posts is apparently too hard for me. Anyone got any failsafe tips?

http://instagram.com/p/ZRaU-tTH7J/

how on earth did you manage to mess that up  i mean you can even see the pins through the clear body  . Next time DRILL a small pilot holes ( 1mm) to exactly line up with the centre of the pins - then use the reamer . We've all being there

Been converting a Bruiser driver figure to pilot my Dingo bodied CC01 and fabricating a mechanism to get his head moving with the steering servo. The tricky bit is making it so I can still remove the bodyshell without spending 10mins fiddling underneath first... but I think I've worked it out in my head, just need to apply it to the plastic now :)

Been working on the 502x, previous owner had used some kind of vinyl underneath instead of a lexan undercowl, to effect worked but once I got the plastic off the tacky residue of the adhesive was horrendous to remove :o.

Also a had a delivery from Penguin RC, a 511 Undercowl which was promptly trimed & painted to suit, just waiting for motor & esc now.

I got to try out the Bushnell speedster III today. I've had it for a while but the weather hasn't cooperated enough to take a speed car out. I took the TFR 414 since it does the best on less than ideal asphalt.
It's nice because it sits by itself on it's own tripod and captures speeds unatended for 10 minutes and shows you the highest speed it's seen. I did several passes just seeing how it all worked and managed a reasonable 42 MPH at around half throttle. It was too dusty to really go for it and one wheel and tire decided it didn't want to play anymore. I was hard on the brakes and thought I'd run over something but it was the wheel rolling away. No harm done and I even found the anodized nut it lost.

Finished off installing the electrics to the 502x

Nabbed the body and wing off the 511 (as thats getting a new shell) and trimed to suit, 5,5t motor and 60a esc, coupled with a UBEC.

First run didn't go to plan, extremly rapid little thing, however got very hot very quickly after a matter of minutes, to the point where some of the soldering connections had failed on the motor and deans connector

I took a 956 out to see how fast. It started with passes in the high 20s and lower 30s pretty easy. About half throttle saw mid 40s and I decided to push it a bit. It clocked in at 59 about 3/4 throttle and I wanted to try to break 60. Just out of radar range it caught a bit of air and blew over. There's nothing to really compare watching one of your favorite cars about 2 feet off the ground backwards and upside down at that kind of speed. It landed pretty bad but finally came to a stop right side up. It drove away from it but a screw came loose in the motor mount and it was enough for now.

I didn't have a show body on it so nothing really bad came from it.

So today I've been swearing, chasing dropped bolts around my kitchen and supergluing myself together. Amongst all that I managed to film this...

... so it's wasn't all bad! Now to clean it up and tackle the lighting!

Nice one mate . Now it needs a proper grill and headlight surrounds . And a 50 cal with top gunner figure . ;)

Gear ratio too low? Spur gear a bit too small, pinion a bit too large? Just a thought.

That would appear to be the case - bet it flew, though!

A few days ago I rebuilt my Buggy Champ - I had disassembled it in an attempt to work on that very problematic ball differential I had installed, but four screws had essentially fused the gearbox halves together. I gave up and just reassembled everything:

But today, I finally found some time over the long weekend to take my Striker out for a quality run:

The decals are peeling and the chassis tub is full of dirt, but it was a whole lot of predominantly-plastic fun out there!

I pretty much came to that conclusion as I'm running the same spec on my dyna storm without any issues. Fixed the connections last evening and ordered smaller pinion set.

Got the Vajra shell painted this afternoon - debated for far too many hours on a colour. Boxart black is boring, gunmetal was a safe (and one i normally like) choice, but felt it too dark and the Vajra deserved something a bit more daring. Its now sporting a lovely coat of Faspearl Lime Green, backed with Fascolor white and windows smoked with Fastint.

Not many Vajra around, so this one must be unique i reckon

Only the decals to go now ;)
