I cant wait to try it out. Might as well get some option parts while I am here.

Did you notice where I bought those from? :)

Oh wow, you're going to hop yours up!  Mine is bone stock..well, besides the white wheels vs the yellow it came with.

I can't read the price tags.. did you get them directly from Japan?

Nice.  Sounds like a blast.   Yeah, I've been wanting a nitro car for a while as well.. I'd get the Inferno MP9 or 10.

So for me today, I did not organize my Akira's corner shelf, but did use my new ball tip hex driver to adjust the cambers on my Optima and Javelin.  They don't run turnbuckles so had to take the cups off and turn them.   Not bad, the hex driver itself is fantastic (Wera).

I suppose I can get the two cars turnbuckles once Kyosho has more in stock.. They just take the 38mm.

Update.. ended up I was able to source them so ordered 2 cars worth of Kyosho turnbuckles and ball ends.  B)

Ran the Hornet yesterday after work. First time this year! The fact that I get to run it is a sign that Spring is coming. It's still full of snow everywhere up North and outside of town, but in the city it's starting to thaw enough for a go.

Just the basic act of powering up this buggy and seeing the wheels spin still puts a BIG smile on my face like it did on day one 😊

What is it about the Hornet, eh? I'm not really sure, but I always wanted one.

Get.one.immediately.🐝

It is one of the best purchases I have ever done in my entire life, let alone RC, and I am not exaggerating.

It's beautiful. It works well. It runs fast. It's got scale looks. It's extremely durable. It handles like... well, a Hornet. War scars look good on it. Just fun. No guilt. Every time. All for the price of a bunch of hop-ups.

What more could you want? 😎😉

I have been toying with the idea of writing a book about the Hornet. Not merely rc related, but from a more comprehensive, philosophical point of view. Just kidding, though it would actually make sense if you ask me 😅

Not a hornet, but my wife made me a bumble bee the other week.

She's been buzzing around my pretendRCshop.  B)

Its a robust, neat looking buggy that takes like a half an hour to build not including the body, and you can find kits or used examples for $100. Worthwhile alternatives include the Rising Fighter if you don't mind trading looks for durability and more wheel options, or the Mad Bull if you want something that'll go over more terrain (and tires that won't lose their tread on asphalt).

Amazing work @Nicadraus I have been admiring your builds and trying to source some of this blue braided sleeve material. The one I found on eBay turned out to be too light colored and almost translucent :( Where did you get your from? Thanks!

Thank you! There's a lot of those at Aliexpress. Just type "braided cable sleeve". Comes in different diameter sizes

A typical 6mm can expand up to 10mm when inserting the wires. I usually order 6mm for motor or ESC wires with gauges 12-14. Same size I use for servo wires. While I use 12mm for multiple cable inserts.

@Nicadraus After seeing your fiber cable jackets (braided sleeve), now I am thinking that is a superb idea to cover up the yellow and blue motor wires off the 1060 going to my Le Mans 490 brushed motors (red black wires).  Thanks for the tip!  :D

That would look cool. :)

Almost.  The rear bumper could be about 3mm wider.  And the front could be about 3mm lower.  But it does look better than the lexan fake bumpers I had before.  At least I’m telling myself that.  Lol!

I need to find someone with a table vice so I can bend the yeah racing front skid plate up to meet the bumper.  And then I need to paint it black.  There’s always something to tweak…

Finished the BD11 today and then built the TB05R

Both are great kits but I enjoyed the TB05R build more. Tamiya just go together so well. That kit is impressive too, well worth the dollars. I'm thinking it would happily compete with carbon cars in the slower classes. While it complies with class rules, its more to the letter of the law than the spirit. It still has that slop in the steering though, the Yokomo ball joints and cups are much better in that regard

Won't make it to the club day tomorrow, I still have soldering for 2 chassis and setting up electronics in all 3, as well as tyre gluing, and I really can't be bothered after building all day

I bought a tired, second hand one for near buttons and put the AmPro front end on to see what all the fuss about buggies was (I'd never had one). Well, what fun! I'm sure there are better buggies out there but the 'slap, slap, bounce' of the Hornet is just brilliant.

Of course, the 3D printed front end eventually gave up after all the abuse we threw at it. I'm thinking of attempting some metalwork to replace it and get running again.

Working on the Jugger's pickup bed.

I want a smooth bed, so I made a plate for it and it is removable by 4 screws to have access to the bumper screws lower in the bed.
Also made light clusters for the rear LED lights, and fitted the new rear bumper. Going well so far.

This perfectly answered my question!  Thanks again for the tip, nicadraus!   Going to order some today.

For me, due to falling apart from age, I need to visit my dentist today.. my tooth broke last night as I was flossing and apparently need something stronger than balsawood and styrene to fix..

Wish me hope please..    Going to crack open my XV02-Pro later on..

I saw that the digital JX servo @OoALEJOoO recommended a while back was on sale ($13!) so bought 2.. it's a standard sized JX servo with a 0.07sec @6V performance.   Not sure if it really hits those numbers, but they are pretty quick and with 8kg, plenty of torque to maintain a true center.

I installed one from an earlier purchase on my Tomahawk and was pleasantly surprised how well it responded.  I'm thinking about running the same servo on my XV02-Pro and save the 1251MG for my future Xpress m-chassis build.  B)

Can't wait to see the XV-02 build. Are you modifying it with hop-ups? Also, have any plans of running it too?

I was using two JX servos before then switched to SPT. I found it more accurate and specs are true. But one brand that I really like is Power HD. No fuzz. What they put in the spec sheet is absolutely true as well.

Do you mind sharing where you found those at that price?  Also, I assume it the PDI-6208MG?

Sorry for the naive question, but does the Pro need hopups?   I was hoping it would be all included..

I will be driving the XV.  Actually all my cars are driven.  I am going to be doing a BL version Scorpion/TurboScorpion dedicated for outdoors down the road as well.
