Today i brought my wip 1/10 Opel Maultier to work as i figured id have time for a first outdoor test drive.

Other than no weight on the tracka equaling low traction it drives well.

Will be better with the bed on and a battery back there.

So you have outgrown your pretend RC shop and are going for a takeover bid on the, er, outside world? God help us all!

Kyosho Beetle box art really really reminds me of something, but I can't for the life of me figure out what. Some bee/wasp cartoon character maybe? Anyway, it's a marvellous thing. Would it be sacrilege to say that while Tamiya cars are all about the character, just once in a while Kyosho beats them hands down at their own game (Beetle; Mad Van)?

  Nono, I just wanted a vintage vibe car I can drive outdoors.  I like to keep my collection clean so did not want to introduce dirt and harvest dust (cow dung and all ) inside the house.  We are a shoe-off inside house family so cars that are driven outdoors will need to stay in the garage.. on a floor mat if dirty as my garage is mostly clean.

I'm not really into the box art for the Kyosho Beetle, so will probably just paint it a solid red this time (?) and use minimalist decal application as my blue one.

I think the entire Kyosho Legendary Series cars have excellent character, not just the Beetle.. and the quality is top notch including how they drive with that old fashioned mechanical movement.  Very cool to look at and watch.

This.. To us in Norway it is super Strange to have shoes on inside, Shoes ALWAYS goes off in the hallway there are no exceptions anywhere. What even make it stranger is that many standard Apartments etc in England ( the London classsic one where you have the stairs to the left when you enter and the  living room to the right with the fireplace) AND Wall to Wall CARPET incl the stairs.

Take your shoes off when you enter a house for crying out loud

Yeah, I know some folks change shoes to inside only shoes when they get home.. like slippers.

I’m okay with that too.  Our house is basically all wood and stone flooring so I can get it very low dust with routine dry mopping and vacuuming.  When I clean my central HVAC filter on the house every 3 months, I get maybe a dime sized dust bunny at most on the filtration system to give you an idea how little dust there is.

So, definitely no outdoor RC cars inside the house.

Amazing work. Is that just front wheel steering or are the track’s steering as well?

Just front wheels and a diff on the drive axle for now but i have made and fitted drums and brake pads on the axle, just needs a mechanism from the steering servo to apply the correct side when turning that direction, should just be a couple of levers with a bit of spring loading so its not an on/off deal but gradual application increasing with steering angle.

Thanks :)

Skipped the gym today as I’ve been a lot over the last 10 days, managed to lose 7Kgs this year but I’ve got another 10Kgs to go 🤦

Anyhoo put the new window set in my daughters LB, touched up the window surround with a sharpie and dusted the chrome work a with a small brush.

Family life dependant I’d like to think I’ll be able to set up trims etc on the handset this weekend and test out the shock adjustments I made the other day - nothing tremendously exciting to you but nice all the same for me!

I went back a few steps on my Mid build. Decided to go bling with it and fit a full set of Yeah Racing carbon fibre. Hard to believe there's a benefit in use for me but this is essentially just jewellery, I don't have any other cars I've done like this, and if any deserve it this one does, so I figured "why not?". Then I took it forward a bit. Can't finish it for a while anyway - the turnbuckles I have on order are a month away.

And I ran my XV-01 which is now lower on 50mm shocks. These wheels have a shade more offset than stock and the body sits low because it was positioned on rally suspension.. I think it looks great like that though. They just clear the shell...

Today, while at work, I suddenly felt the urge to see my Lancia Delta Integrale in motion.

Later in the day, I found a parking lot and made it happen.

This sort of triple figure of 8 made for good markers to drive around, and lo! The itch for postal racing soon started to come back, which is good.20230419-191536.jpg

...after the run, Didier and Bernard got to chill out and run their own Delta in the parking lot... 😅20230419-191130.jpg

I took the St Dragon out today, it's my first 4wd car

Unfortunately I could only run it at a park and there was a lot of leaves, grass and sticks on the ground....One day I will find a flat patch of dry dirt for it.

Making some slow progress on the Durga.

Lots of shimming.

Instructions demand 8 shims on the centre pulley that holds the spur gear alone!

Can't see the blue alloy suspension blocks from this angle as they're underneath the tub.

On this note, I noticed the tub has the screw holes to mount the DB01R motor heatsink. It also looks like it has the cutout for the heatsink, but it's filled in. Has anyone tried cutting it out and fitting the heatsink?

It actually handles pretty well on bushes /leaves! I run mine on local park / trail and surprised now well it goes over stuff.

I had a small problem with twigs going into the suspension, when I got home the battery tray was full of leaves  haha.  It was very fun to drive though

Next time I might take a broom and sweep away the sticks and twigs on the ground first.
