Yep! I have two Honda City Turbos and my Wild Willy to complete. That said I’m still waiting for a couple of 3D printed parts for the Wild Willy but want to finally get on with it.
Plus, if course, a whole wardrobe full of stuff ;)

Oh, and last night I finally got my hands on a Bandit for a good price. I’ve been looking for one after lusting over conversions that @Nikko85 and @OoALEJOoO have completed in the past. Previously prices have been ridiculous but this one was very reasonable, especially as it’s a runner.

I just got the body shell and placed on a QD - but I have seen videos of people doing a full hobby grade conversion! Good luck.

I had originally intended to put it on an MF01x. Anyway, it’s joining a big pile of to-do’s so plenty of time to decide. Just didn’t want to miss out at a good price.

@GeeWings thank you sir! I am planning on driving it again tomorrow, if the weather holds...

Meanwhile, today I saw this at the dollar store and though of you20230426-174049.jpg

Had we been neighbors -or at least close enough geographically- I would have gotten it for you, although on second thoughts you probably have it already 😅

I got this today:

so I guess I need to build another entrant to the Mario Kart race!

I reckon a mad max style Kong Head would be a good fit ;)

@ChrisRx718 That mesh you used reminded me of drywall tape.. coincidentally I am repairing a small section of my drywall and used the mesh a few days ago.. looks very similar.  B)  but I am sure the Tamiya mesh has smaller pore and a lot more flexible.

For me, going to work on the Beetle body today.  :D

That's a car for you @Juhunio😁

Yup, I have that body set. Unfortunately I made a mess of the shell trying to get it to fit an FF03 so I've ordered another one to go on a scratch-built TT02 Type SRRRRXXX. Thankfully I still have the Seb Loeb stickers, I didn't butcher them yet 😂

FF03

Interesting, I couldn't get the shell to fit an FF03 as the front valance wouldn't clear the bumper. Did you cut the bumper down?

I don’t have the front bumper fitted and I cut a square hole for where it catches. When I get home I’ll take a picture

With the weather improving (well, warming up a bit whilst still chucking it down anyway), it means we are heading into painting season! Finally, the chance to put some shells on the various bits-a-builds I worked on over the autumn and winter. So today I have been cutting, sanding and shaping these beauties ready for masking and painting over the next couple of months:

1x Audi A4 STW, 1x AMG GT3 and 3x Skyline GT-R Gr.A! Yes, three R32s does seem excessive but there are a couple of different liveries afoot and one of them is going to be sold on (for various reasons)

I also took delivery of a bumper paint order from Modelsport, so I'm good to go 😎

I remember that chassis, this is going to be an awesome car with that shell. Looking forward to it 👌

Back from a short holiday so some light Jugger stuff.

Glued the rear exhausts to the bumper, fitted the headlights with LED lights, and tore down the chassis for cleaning.

Really need to get this car finished at some point....

Made a wishlist.

Ive done well with my Tamiya Collecting lately, but Im hooked. However I maybe after different things to most.

Some lust after a 959, an Avante, an Egress. Or even a humble Lunchbox or Grasshopper. Mine can be summed up by the opening video to the PS2 Game Gran Turismo 3:

Worked on my Kyosho mini z 4x4 putting on metal and brass parts , man the hardware is tiny on these things sure makes me appreciate my Tamiya's. Also drove around one of my Monster Beetles . Now going to make sure batteries are charged and take the rest for a drive.

A very good day today.

I have developed a system to polish out orange peel on cars that have been finished.

Tamiya masking tape will stay stuck onto raised detail and over decals even despite the wider surface being polished over quite vigorously.   The results have been very impressive.

Sure,

Usually I polish an abs shell when the paint is cured and before the decals go on.

& I take a lot of care to avoid polishing any raised surfaces on the shell because the paint would wear off easily on those parts

But lately I've been a bit annoyed by a small amount of leftover orange peel in the paint of my Black Lunchbox which was finished last year.

This raised a dilemma of what would happen to the edges of the decals on the finished shell if I tried to polish out any orange peel that was next to the decals.  Also the Lunchbox has a lot of panel lines which need a lot of care when polishing

So what I did was I put Tamiya 3mm tape over edges of the decals in the areas that needed to be polished and  3mm tape on the panel lines and the raised bits and just polished away without worrying about it too much

It worked very well, surprisingly the tape stayed firmly attached to the raised surfaces of the Lunchbox shell and protected those parts from the polish.  (the rubbing action of my polishing cloth didn't budge the tape)

I've finished doing one side and it was very easy with this method.

For me, I use micro mesh sticks and wet sand orange peel in tight spots as it is a lot more controlled than using cloth.  Cloth is great for broader areas and the very final work down with polish (diminishing abrasives like Meguiars ScratchX).

Been working on my "Streetle" build. Had to shave a little bit off the nose of the M06 chassis to get the body to sit where I want it, that was nerve wracking. Decided to use regular size rims up front and the F104 tyres at the back, made a mock rim and printed it to check the fitment. Bang on perfect. Looks nice and fat and fills the arch.

Today i got to spend some time with Subaru TT-01e. First it seemed very slow but as my kids and their friends wanted to test this was Ok at first, the i found a setting on the controller that said “channel 2 forward 50%”  :) (This setting is handy, did not know i had it), changed it to 💯 % and yup this kit was fast, but first thing i did was ram it into a post, back wheel went wobbly but strange enough there was no cosmic damage. So had to take it inside for a fix and it was Wheel Axl, i knew trying to get it straight was pointless as this had to be 100% straight or the gears would get the shake.

out with hop-up part in with stock parts.

So i got my standard problem the first runs. Screws on dampers needed threadlock, motor pinion had threadlock but apparently not enough as this started to slip. Added stronger put it together and added my last hop-ups as well as it now was open.

Then i found out what i knew, this chassis could not handle the uneven ground at all

spacer.png

On the positive side it was faster and could handle very well on Tarmac, so had a great time with it once i moved over to Tarmac. A bit to fast for me actually :), need some training.

So, i think i now fixed the “newborn” problems and next time i will put in in my RC bag with my cones and travel to a place with a lot of Tarmac and make a course for it :)
