I recently made a pledge not to buy any more cars until the ones I'm working on are finished because I'm still building cars that I bought last year.   Now a local shop is selling their Tamiya inventory for crazy low prices, I am being sorely tested, haha.

I think maybe sell my E Revo & both Revo Nitro's to get some cash together then I can move into 90s Touring Cars. Starting with JGTC.  Castrol TOMs Supra and a the trio of Skyline GTRs (Loctite, Calsonic, Pennzoil) are the hit list.

It's fantastic fun. I needed something fast which I could blast around without being in constant need of repair like my Tamiya WR-01 and WT-01 monster trucks. They're just too fragile - this thing is really tough. It's not even really "broken" now, the body just rubs on the wheels. And it jumps like a champ, great weight-balance due to the strange motor-on-axle design. If you've ever watched footage of the SST - Stadium Super Trucks - the Kyosho handles exactly like those, cocking a wheel on turning-in and just floating over bumps.

Was at that event, and every 500, the SST are my wife’s favourites, unfortunately we dont get them here anymore

I've been considering adding an Avante Black to my NIB kit collection, and the Tamico offer tipped me over the edge so it's been ordered.  Along with a TD4 and two sets of alloy diff nuts  :o  In for a penny in for a pound, right?

I'm now done for grabbing Hop Ups and kits while a) I've got some free cash and b) they're available to buy and therefore avoiding missing out or the prices rising.

Time to get cracking on the build queue I think!

Cut the body and wing out for my dirt master! I still don’t know we’re to go with this buggy in regards to the motor choice and servo’s etc so I thought if I cut the body out maybe I could make a decision about it? But it never happened^_^

Love it. What chassis/body is it  or is it the Traxxas one?

Thanks!

The chassis is the 4-Tec 3.0 and came as the Factory Five ‘33 Hot Rod body, which is based on the ‘33-‘34 Ford 3-Window Coupe. I got a clear body and a cam of Traxxas Racing Green, which appears to be British Racing Green, minus the “British” in the name the wheels and tires for the GR Supra version of the 3.0. I trimmed the fenders off to give it a fenderless hot rod look and just wanted it to look more like something that would have rolled out of somebody’s barn, shed, or garage after several months of wrenching and May end up with a picture of it tape to the dash of every cop car in it’s part of the state vs something someone wrote a check for somebody else to build, which is more of what these look like out of the box to me.

@BJoe76 love it - kit car of a kit car! Not many Factory Five cars over in the UK though they have featured in the magazines.

I always keep my word that "this is my last car (until the next time)".  So I am always honest.. :D

You only live once, get what you want while you can enjoy it.  GL with your purchases (note plural).

Servo 1251MG or equivalent, motor LeMans 13.5 BL gold.  :D   Modern buggy should be able to take modern power..I hope.

My Scorpion is borderline okay with the 19.5 BL LeMans.  Rear feels a bit light off throttle so going to program out drag brake completely.  My Beetles are running 14 turn brushed G14L 550 cans.  Very nice power.

With beach holidays not far away I've rebuild my Sand Rover over the last few days.

I really like those wheels and tires….

I really would like to get a holiday buggy and put those wheels and tires… i would assume tires are for subaru brat and wheels are from beetles?

To be honest I'm not sure anymore which tires they are. It's possible they are Brat tires or rear tires for buggy champ. As far as I'm aware they are slightly different. The wheels are m-chassis Beetle wheels but they don't fit the tires how they come from the factory. I made them bigger in diameter and narrowed them on the front as I've had narrowed the front tires.

Yeah I’m thinking definitely brushless but probably go for a ezrun combo or something similar because it’s going to be my go to basher so I’m not going to spend big money on it likewise with the servo I have a few unused metal geared servo’s in my toolbox!

Personally, I'd keep the electric one (because it won't go bad sitting on a shelf) and move the nitro ones on... they need constant attention. I recommend taking the wheels off the E-Revo though if you're not running it regularly, otherwise you'll get flat spots (and it's easier to store without the tires on).

Our local Traxxas supplier is doing the right thing and replacing the servo on the TRX-4M (again) but I'll keep my fingers crossed that the new metal gear one I ordered lasts longer!

The weather for later this week is looking nicer, so if the ground dries out enough I'm aiming to get the Konghead out on the weekend.

I wish I could find a Sand Rover..!  Mine would have Willy as driver. :D

That would be fun to drive outside.   Speaking of which, I got my milk crate so mounted a MIK adapter for my ebike.  It looks like I'm going to make food deliveries so going to decorate the sides with some PVC sheet + a few RC decals or something.  lol

The RC cars will be strapped to the bottom of the crate using velcro tape on the axles during transport to a nearby park or parking lot.

^I gotta get a crate for my bicycle, lately I've been putting my cars in a bag and dangling it from the handlebars.

Well yesterday (Sunday) was eventful.

I finally got to go boating (as @geewings mentioned the weather in our neck of the woods has been miserable) but ran into a few problems:

  • The second pair of 3S batteries I run in the Sonicwake hit LVD after 10 seconds - not sure why, but I'll rebalance them and try again next time,
  • The ESC in the M41 unsoldered itself - hard to be mad, the boat still has all its stock electrics after 2+ years of regular running (on 4S),
  • The Recoil 2 hit a buoy, which left a tiny chip in the hull - entirely my fault, and
  • It was so blustery and cold I packed up the sailboat and went home!

I spent most of that day running around expecting to find a puddle in the house somewhere. Somehow the old house held up!

Sounds like a string of bad luck for you though. Here's to better weather ahead...

I have a KongHead I purchased from a guy down at Philip Island a year or so ago. It's sitting untouched But I reckon it might be just the chassis for Toad (my next Mario Kart entrant) ;)

Very nice! I have been lusting over a couple of great Sand Rover builds on Instagram recently. I can feel an expensive purchase coming on :P
