@Nick-W I too hate gardening and land scaping work.  My pops believed in child labor  and had me working from early am to dusk in the summer time with crappy tips as pay.  I honestly worked so hard like a slave, I saw plants and land scaping bricks in my dreams.  So I decided early on in my adult life I would NEVER do any routine landscaping work ever again as I already did my entire life's full of that kind of work.

I own a single family home and do not own a lawn mower, trimming gear.. at all.  I have my trusty landscape contractor do everything.  My landscaping looks professionally done all the time and I like that.  Down side is my two teen boys do not know how to mow the lawn... as men that is total fail in my generations, but luckily they are in the younger softy non-binary full of all sorts of options generation so it appears it is okay to let their future wives mow the lawn.        My sons can buy their wives RC cars when the wives cash in on their honey-do points.  lol

my mom asked me to mow the lawn today. it went fine but the weed wacker only had 1 cord remaining and 1.5" long... it was hard on the hands to use. didnt enjoy using 2nd machine...

You’re a good son.   In contrast, a young family down the street with a dumb kid in middle-school  had their mom mow the grass this morning.   I’m telling you man, that would’ve NEVER happened in my youth.. my dad would have kicked the crap out of me and pushed my lazy butt outside if I made mom do any yard work on Mother’s Day especially.

In RC news, I finished the red Beetle and posted in the gallery only thread.. also in my profile page or #pretendrcshop on Instagram.

It turned out okay, looked odd at first but it started to grow on me.  B)  Looks pretty good I think..

family aging stuff meant my father wasnt able to do it for a while. mowing did get easier than before, they put those large paving blocks that take up half the backyard last year. had to avoid the sprinklers but it wasnt very long 4-6" tall grass.

I too dislike gardening. Has sir considered one of these?

All the gardening I do, I see as an investment in future not-gardening. So I am anti flower bed and weeds are all in the mind (other people's).

Found out that the "blue parts" Shaft & wheel Axles From Ali E was yet another proof that there very seldom is a good solution to go to far away from trusted producers, Universal\main shaft started slipping and found out that it was because the end Axl on main shaft was not e perfect fit so would from now and then slip out of front Gear Box.
I still have the Shafts & Axle from the Box who im sure would last longer than these but it ended with yet another Hop-Up order from P-j :).

Here from the first trip out yesterday when i lost a screw on the servo steering arm, this was also replaced, but now i taken it all apart again and will probably wait for P-J order.

I've seen those robot mowers but it is just easier to hire someone to do it for me.. plus I check my shrubs and grass from time to time and need the human touch to make any pin pointed corrections and improvements (not just grass).. I would not be interested in programming a robot each time there is a dedicated project.  I just text my lawn guy I noticed spots in my grass or need tree trimming, etc and his crew just does it with professional results.. so yes, my lawn care is also my investment for the house as I am trying to keep the house and premise prestine and sell in about a decade when I move back to Japan.  Speaking of which, I have a fairly significant brick decoration work planned and cherry blossom tree planting this year.  :D

Took the Mugen Prime 12 chassis from its eternal storage to test-fit a new center gear set-up.

Goal is to electrify this nitro-chassis , but when I tried to fit a brushless motor I could not get the pinion and center gear close enough to gat any gear mesh.

Got a different gear mount and motor mount from Aliexpress, it fits in the existing mounting holes after some strategic washers to make it 1.5mm longer.

So happy with that, this project can move forward at some point in time. B)

Need to make holes in the bottom for the motor mount screws and a lipo battery box, and a new top deck for servo, ESC and receiver.

Changed the chassis stiffeners to strut braces and fitted the shock springs gifted by @toyolien to the front end 👍

The back is still a bit bouncy, my guess is that this is the way it will always be due to axle type.

Will add rubber bands to the rear rims to stop the tyres spinning under load - then it is time to move forward with the stalled Sand Scorcher 🥳

Hop’ing -Up today

The Subaru will stay in “Garage” until new Main/propeller shaft Arrives. Think the SuperStock will arrive from P-J soon so i will then have some fun with Top-Force.

@clobbo - It was plastic sooo i believe very little kept’ing is needed.

My wife loves gardening but because of a health issue can’t do very much now. She used to spend all weekend in the garden whilst I sat around playing video games 😆. Now she directs me on what to do because I have absolutely no idea!

I don't call what I do gardening, just tidying what is there. Mrs BC does the planting, etc. I just cut stuff.

I did so much cutting stuff yesterday (and fixing fences and assembling chairs) that my time in the garage on RC was reduced to moving some shells around and locating the dampers for our Dual Hunter rebuild. And finding one of the RXs for the Core TX I really should sell on. Never did take to sticks.

Pretty much finished the M03 off, I still need a few more bits however it's nearly there.

Very nice!  M03's rock.  Definitely one of my fastest and rewarding to drive FWD m-chassis to date.

With kits incoming I find my little obsessive tidy up far more pleasing than I should.

(and it knocked 2 items off my shopping list)

Very nice.

I have a Stanley tool box with the top part like that and a lower part large enough for screwdrivers, pliers etc. One of my best purchases, just pop it in the boot of the car when we go out.

I have so many leftovers and stock parts that I have promised myself a Raaco cabinet for the garage wall one day - Raaco link

BITD my Grandfather had shelves of tobacco tins filled with miscellaneous 1:1 parts. I feel like I'm going full circle.

I'll need a couple of days to organise the bits and fill it!

Very much agree, it's just a massive shame that the chassis are so hard to get hold of now 😭

For me yesterday wired up new ESC on two of my Scorpion base cars.  Too lazy to resize photos for TC, so did not post here.  If interested, my daily activity is posted in my Stories on Instagram (just click my avatar there and it will play the stuff in pretty much real time)  #pretendrcshop

Today I had to go to the office for my money making gig, so did not have much time to do RC, but managed to cut a fresh Beetle body.
